Thank Jon, we live in the rural area of South Africa limpopo province, matlala village. It is very dry land with limited water. Our water is full of manganese chemicals from boreholes. It is full of salt taste. I will try to install this system for my family to drink pure water.

Thank you and greetings from Finland. My well water contain a lot of iron. Maybe this system is possible to filter the iron away. Another problem is cold climate. This system must be buried under the ground in the cellar because in winter the barrels will freeze to ice. Life is testing and learning, and eventually teaching, when you first learn something. Thank you.

Great system, thanks. You could use a final, end use filter, in a much smaller stainless steel container to get rid of any plastic chemicals for drinking water and cooking water. Also you can structure the water at this stage to make it more healthy to drink.

Hey Jon. It’s good to test the waters. You mentioned your village drinks this for 14 years already and it’s great that it is fine to drink. How ever, I would make sure to have it checked every 4 year. That’s a great thing to do to maintain the safety of the people drinking it. Because you don’t want to risk one day people get sick and then you go to get it tested. It’s all about prevention and safety first. 👍

Your system is something I am planning to use here with four 55 gal. barrels. Thank you for the explanation and answers to the questions. I have ponds .. but I plan to collect water from the roof here. We have composite shingles .. but are planning to put on a new metal roof. I already have a frame that is 5 x 10 ft. and about 5 ft. off the ground. Should work very well. I have watched many of your videos .. very good wisdom for all times! Keep speaking your words .. others are listening too! :-)

@@stebarg .. Tesla is producing some great stuff .. but also at a great price! I picked up a pump today .. about $13 US including shipping. It has a 7 M/23 ft. lift ability and a used solar panel to operate it ..$50 US My purpose is to pump water from a small pond to holding tanks for irrigation of a garden. If this works well I'm getting another one or two. We'll see. I wouldn't need a battery and controller .. since I won't need it at night .. or during the winter. By the way .. I use a 55 gal. plastic barrel with holes in the bottom to filter out debris .. and a large tractor inner-tube that inflates tight around the middle .. leaving another foot at the top. Then I put this into the pond .. with the pump inside and this way I can keep debris out of the pump and the barrel is riding the surface level of the pond. It works really well. :-) usa.banggood.com/DC-24V-Water-Pump-Solar-Powered-Brushless-Magnetic-Submersible-900LH-Water-Pumps-p-1269117.html?cur_warehouse=CN www.amazon.com/ALEKO-SP30W24V-Monocrystalline-Opener-Driveway/dp/B0158WSUYW/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=24+volt+solar+panels&qid=1596063662&sr=8-10

Merwin ARTist Thanks for sharing ❣️😃🙏🏽 Sounds good. I had a look on that pump. It has a flow rate of 350-900 l/s. Have you considered that? In practice you‘ll see the real flow rate. If there’s not much hight difference in your setup, it’s more on the higher side. It should pump between 1..3..5..10 cubic meters per day, depending on your location and height difference. Would be great to see your system in action. Unfortunately I’m stuck in Berlin in a not so nice flat in the city center. I’d like to have a nice piece of land in a good location and work on such things too but lack the resources at the moment. Any idea how to get there without much money? 😃

@@stebarg .. it's not Liters per second .. it's Liters per hour. 350 - 900 L/H = 92 - 237 Gal/H If I have only 6 hrs of sun .. that means 552 Gal - 1,422 Gal. I'm only filling two 55 gallon barrels .. and they are only about 8 ft or so above the water level. Considering the fact that I am using a generator burning gasoline .. while running a small electric pool pump .. the solar setup will pay for itself in a hurry. If it works well .. I'll order one or two more! If you are not able to buy land .. you can use someone else's .. that is what this guy Jon explains in his videos .. you should watch all of them. Learn about what he has to say! Just watched this one today and shared it with many friends. I have a lot of respect for the educators in our school systems .. as they are underpaid for the work they have done .. basically baby-sitting a bunch of sometimes misbehaving kids .. and mostly not family. However, there is wisdom in hearing another perspective about our traditional education models. Though I have lived in the city for brief periods of my life .. I've always been a Country Boy .. and so I share this link with you in hopes that the logic and common sense here will inspire you to make life easy! kzread.info/dash/bejne/ho6at9OboNuYaLg.html

Hey Jon... Been watching all of your works for sometime now. Love all of it! One question. Since you are so much into earthen building, why don't you try out earthen(baked bricks) water tanks too? It is a common practice in Indian villages to drink from medium sized earthen pitchers of varying capacities (20-200ltrs). Although I haven't heard or seen anything like your water purification system. But I think it may be worth a try, even if as a small project.
