@@TeddyGreyOS @lmg.quince He wrote this 11 hours ago and I listened to the interview and Taemin clarified it very well. I think the analysis goes the other way: "Taemin mentioned on his "Suchwita" episode that dropped earlier today that "Guilty" was actually written two years ago at the same time "Advice" was and it was a choice between the two songs for his last comeback. He ended up going with "Advice" and "Guilty" was shelved while he was in the military. He also didn't write it, though he did absolutely choose it, so the words would have had to resonate with him. He said that when it came time for this comeback, he reworked "Guilty" to update it for 2023, but probably not a complete rewrite."

"he's talking about it in the third person, so he's saying that maybe somebody else should feel guilty and maybe he's pissed that they don't feel guilty for what they've done to him." ding ding ding! in an interview to NME released today, taemin said: "There are a lot of things I gain from being a singer but, at the same time, there are lots of things I have to give up, and these are the ones I emphasised in this single." this is the closest he's come to talking about the genuinely horrific things he was put through as a child idol, which a lot of people have caught on is most likely what this comeback is actually about. both the music video and the album photos were shot through a voyeuristic point of view. it's meant to make you feel uncomfortable and guilty of seeing him in private moments. it's meant to make you feel disturbed that you're gleefully watching as he's abused. it's turning the mirror to face the audience, showing the people who have treated him as an object his entire life what that looks and feels like. it's meant to make you question how you consume media and to make you think twice before consuming it mindlessly. art that makes you question yourself and the world around you is so extremely valuable. taemin isn't just an incredible, once in a lifetime artist - he's a necessary artist, especially in an industry that sets out to break children down until they're nothing but dolls to be played with.

The fact that you could say that much even tho u didn’t read any article about this comeback is amazing yes the purpose of this comeback is to make us feel guilty not him and it’s a reference to his past and the childhood he lost because of the industry and all the sexualisation he had to face and now he’s here to take back what’s his , his BODY and how to use it in the way he wants freely it’s supposed to make us feel uncomfortable and guilty

You really were on point in everything you said on this one ! You compared it to Advice and Guilty was actually the other option for a title track at the time ! You also talked about him dancing with both men and women and fitting both and that's exactly the point of his music and what he wants to represent ! He aims to be a genderless artist and his performances and his music are leaning into that aspect ! So if you got it without knowing that it's his goal at all, it means that he does well haha Thank you for your reaction as always ! ❤

Earlier he appeared on SUGA’s show called suchwita to promote his new song GUILTY and he talked about how his music is known for having that gender neutral charm. Him and suga also stated the fact that both taemin and Jimin have that same charm when it comes to their music. That really just made things clearer to me. He portrays his feelings really well with fluidity in his moves, his immaculate voice and facial expressions. I really enjoyed it all. Your reaction is amazing too Teddy ❤

💎 What can we say other than THE KING IS BACK!? I absolutely love how deep Taemin’s songs and MVs are…they aren’t just entertainment or for clicks/views, but he tells a story. He wants to make people THINK and question and reflect. This isn’t something one can watch and then move on. His concepts are intellectual and personal. 💎 Regarding the song itself, his haunting whispers with the beautiful runs on top give me chills…the rap section was unexpected, but fit perfectly and suited the song more than I’d have imagined. I loved how the song switched gears in unexpected ways…there are certain formulas that most kpop songs follow, but this moved in ways I’d never imagined it would and it’s perfect. 💎 As far as the choreography…holy freaking moly. I KNEW it would blow my mind…of course it would-it’s Taemin! With that said, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t some of his best work to date. It’s provocative without being slutty. Not only that, but you can SEE him being jerked around without any hands on him at all. Around the tenth time watching the video, I happened to notice some of what the background dancers were doing (it’s hard to peel my eyes from Taemin!). There are some genius moves that add to the overall look of the stage…some possibly inspired by breakdancing and some quite acrobatic. I can’t wait to see how it plays out on stage! 💎 All I can really say besides the King has returned is, if loving Taemin is a crime, I’m “G-U-I-L-T-Y … Who's gonna punish me?” 💎

Taemin had a really hard time during his mandatory military service. It started with some jokes within the soldiers' Kakao chat groups and escalated to sexual harassment, to the point where supervisors changed his shower schedule so he wouldn't have to be with anyone in the bathroom. I don't know what happened or how bad it was, but around 1 or 2 months after the Kakao chat jokes were leaked, Taemin was transferred to serve from home because he was deeply depressed. In South Korea, it is very rare to change someone's division due to simple bullying (there are many reports about it submitted to human rights groups), so this led his fans to believe that the situation was indeed very serious, and he was allowed to serve from home as a community service worker. So yes, this album does carry the weight of that time for him. I appreciate how you noticed it, even if you don't follow him as a fan.

Taemin is art, and thank you for your insights on his Gulity mv. As you experience more of his discography, you’ll see that challenging, even taboo, and complex concepts are his specialty. Taemin introduced or populaized the idea that dance is genderless, and he probably employs more female dancers than anyone, lol. His "girl gang" in Move is iconic. (I think Kasper contributed the under-the-shirt choreography.) Remember for Criminal, the lyricists said that he introduced the Stockholm Syndrome concept into the piece. (It may be in Taemin the Artist documentary.) Whatever the case, Taemin's art is always infused with symbolism. Enjoy your journey.

10:13 The crazy thing is that Taemin is one of the most precise dancers, but he knows how to use different textures so well. He never allows the need for precision to dictate the level of muscle tension or the style of movement. He's just THAT aware of his body and how to use it. It honestly makes me so damn happy seeing an artist who is so incredibly balanced in all that he does... singing, dancing, performing/acting all executed at such a high level. Plus he just has such a self assuredness that comes across, even though a lot of his music explores themes that touch on insecurity, being treated as other, feeling isolated etc. he must have really found some self-peace... because he's depicting all of these emotions from a place of owning them, finding power in them... idk I'm rambling now...

I love how you feel your reaction, and I love your rewinds!!! Jus saying. Taemin lived through hell in the military service...he already entered with depression, and suffers from anxiety. During his service, he could not sleep, the anxiety and panic attacks did not stop, he had to take many more pills and they had to transfer him to administrative duties. He had a really VERY BAD time. But the people who met him said that it was incredible how bad he was but that he never stopped encouraging others. Admirable and from my own experience, those of us who suffer so much never lose that empathy, precisely because we know what it is to suffer and we do not want others to go through that. And in the interview with Suga in Suwchita, he said that he had already written this song before military service. In fact they hesitated whether to release "Advice" or this song at the time, but they opted for "Advice" which was their last release before entering military service. But he has said that he has made new arrangements for this song so that it represents his present more.

I'm still confused about the exact meaning, but again, there could be different interpretations as with his other songs. But from the visuals i get the feeling it refers to abuse, it can be at so many levels. It can have psychological and physical or both, you can suffer it under your oen family, friends, at school, at work, in love relationships... Then who is the perpetrator? many times you can be trapped by those people, even in a group or the society, you don't even realise but by the time you realise you have been actually abused THEY are gone, who can you blame exactly? I have gone through my own dose of abuse, and after years you realise but you end up blaming yourself too, as if you hadn't known better but then you allowed it...😢 Also the images of classroom and rooms with beds, and a kid surrounded by a group...Taemin is watching him from the door as if he was watching himself as a kid... also at the end those kids in school uniforms, all spread aroumd, one grabbing the legs of an adult that grabs his leg, bleeding... South Korea also has buIIying as endemic.. at schools (kids also teachers committing suicide as they can't either find understanding or help by their surroundings, on the contrary they are treated as the outcast and weirdos) also at the workplace, in the Military, in university... Their social rules, their stratification and obsession with seniority, comparing their ages, wealth, posessions, their marks, everything... the social pressure on kids and in general on everyine to be better, the most xx the most xx...). The crazy mix of their traditional values and the contrast to the monstruos capitalism that devours all traditional values... traditional colectivism versus wild individualism...

From what I have picked up here and there, I THINK, don't quote me, the song is about training at an extremely young age in a very exploitive industry, his horrible experience while doing his military service, and his own mental health. Again, I am not positive about any of this. But, for Taemin, it makes a lot of sense. Especially the last two bits because his 2 years away was a nightmare that really messed with his mental health and depression. I hope this helps a wee bit. 😁

Love watching your reaction to Taemin. Please react to more SHINee (shiny) videos. They've been giving us great hits for 15 years! They aren't called "idol of idols" for nothing!

Advice was chosen over Guilty as a release, so the song has been hanging around for years.. and got a refresh for the release obviously... I think reading into the clip too much without doing any homework can produce some flawed guesswork... He's obviously sensitive and deep... what an artist! Great to have Taemin's music back, it has been a long time!

Off topic I have to plug another Korean Artist. Jo Gwangil. He's a Korean rapper. I would recommend to start with Orpheus - by HYNN ft. Jo Gwangil. And then checking out RAMBO and Acrobat of his. There is also a version of Acrobat on the YT Channel of dingo freestyle, where he collabs with different rappers 8 mins of glory. Absolutely obsessed with this guy!

Nice. I was hoping you'd see this. Your other reactions to Taemin were what got me stuck listening to him for the last month. Super talented guy. (With the military service thing, I've heard recent talk about how they delayed coming out publicly until after they were done the service, cause it was possible that they'd be bullied if it was known, and bullying in Korea is no joke)

The song was written by a woman who was dating a married man & she knew he was married, hence her feeling guilty. I think the video is him going through memories; warm colours happy memories & cold colours unhappy memories. He was raised Catholic & I know how they like to make you feel guilty about everything.

LOL it's super common, at least in the US military, for soldiers to be married to each other and have children together. Military families where both parents are enlisted are pretty run of the mill.

My take on this is that Taemin is singing the part of an abuser in a relationship and then is dancing out the part of the abused

I agree! I also believe he IS both and relates to both in his own relationship with himself! He likes the whole concept of speaking to and about himself in his song choices. He didn’t write this one so I can’t help but imagine him hearing and relating to it in that way. I so love Taemin! Such talent, intellect, mastery. He is King!

Hi, i am back. Good rection, ty. Good song. On 1st listen I felt strongly like crying. The tears were held in though the whole song though. But at the end i had to wipe my eyes. I just want to hug Taemin. On my 2nd listen i read the lyrics. And after i wondered was my reaction all in my head. There are layers here upon layers. Loved the fits and makeup. Some of the subject matter was an issue for me. I know Taemin had lots of mental health issues in the military. Based on the teasers I thought he would talk about it. And it looks like he does in his own way. I really want to hear his views on this song and album. I watched Suchwita ep. w. Taemin right after this. Glad he is back giving us headaches, lol. Perfect vocals in my opinion. The feathered headband is a Native American thing for me. I feel it has an important significance. The lyrics had nothing to do with the images in the MV. I think this is way over my head and i will watch some reactions to see what others think of Taemin's msg here. Feels based on imagery. Great choreo. Need the dance practice ASAP. =0p Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟

CHILLS, goosebumps, and in utter awe! Taemin only excels himself, his artistry and talent is only defined as T-pop (Taemin-pop). This MV more like gives me a "Lord-of the flies" vibe, and could be perfect for a re-written script for that book and movie. Also "Loving you is a crime" could refer to love freedom from a suffocating atmosphere, with strict rules and expectation, if it is interpreted from that theme in MV...

Gosh i feel like finally I got the meaning of story 💡...🧐this is how i think what it is about at least in my opinion 😊: In my opinion he is talking to himself _ At first we see him walking in a hallway and opening doors [ that's his mind and he's reviewing memories] and then there're some hands around his head like trapping him [ in the next shot we see him fighting the air but in the choreographed way ] so if we watch the MV with this thought ..that there're 2 sides of him [ Naive vs Evil] then it makes sense..because the naive side got seduced by the evil side and now he feels guilty for the things he's done [ you see him suffering and feeling judged ] that's why you hear him saying : YOU ARE TRAPPED INSIDE ME and things like : LOVING YOU IS A CRIME because you shouldn't be in love with that side of yourself....there's another shot that other people are in bending pose and turning around him [that shows his control] ... Oh god ..my English is not good but I tried my best to explain how I think the story is about.....sorry again for making it long💨👀😅
