Thanks for the shout out David! Maybe you have to rethink the idea of "randomness". You still have to be specific about it. People NEED to know what to expect when they read your bio or see your banner. THAT is the reason they sign up. I guess it's ok the cover random topics, but you have to find a way to make that specific. Is it news you bring? Is it about living in Ireland? is it about your personal life? Is it about the struggles in life? Dont think too much about the name of your channel. What is more important now is to figure out WHAT you want to make videos about. Write a content strategy: define the topic for your next 20 videos. When that is done it will be so much easier to come up with a channel name. Cheers ✌️

No problem Gert, thanks for your feedback! I get what you're saying. It's just hard to plan so far ahead, I have a list written with tonnes of ideas and I pick and choose form that when Im able to.. Some weeks I can't do anything on the list because I cant go there or can't afford to do the video. It can be really frustrating. But that will change over time 💪🏻 I think I might make another list of videos I can do that aren't so elaborate or expensive to do, but still interesting to do 🤔 I'll have a big think about it. How about just "The Irish Guy Channel"? I see your point and I get what you are saying. But this way it can still be whatever you post. I like that too. In a way, I know what to expect from your channel, and that is variety. I get it. It's clear to me. No confusion. I know I will get your point of view and that's why I tune in. The Irish Guy channel is a good suggestion, fhe Irish Guy Presents was another one I had, and Fridays with Dave 😂 which I really liked! But it felt a bit talk show-ish 😅 Well I'm glad that it's clear to you and I think that anyone who has followed my channel for a while will know its a variety channel and will hopefully appreciate that too. I think you need to do what works for you and what's fun for you to make. It sounds to me, like you enjoy the random as much as we do. I just like learning about your life, your world and the things you are interested in. Change only if it's what you want. Trust your gut!

Dude you will pass your driving test. The randomness is great i think. Some viewers will prefer some types of videos over others but you are and Irish guy and you vlog. Don't restrict yourself just be yourself.

I think stick the way you are personally. I like the variety! But do what feels best for you 😊 if you are gonna rebrand sooner the better I'd say!

Thanks for the input 😄 I know, part of me wants to stay the way I am because I can't really tell if it has a negative effect on my channel and I think it's partly my content as well, I love making the variety videos but if I want to do this as a career eventually I might have to streamline. It's so confusing because there's so many unknowns.

I say stick with it. It has done you fairly well so far. Random posts are better than the same thing all the time. I think people watch a video or two before subbing (i do) so I would think they would agree with the content after watching some rather than subbing just because of the channel name. Your channel, your decision. But my two cents is you're grand as you are. And hilarious too

Hey man, I think you are stressing out too much over this.. Random, all random, variety is the spice of life.....ever hear that? As for re-branding, dude you could call your channel "Elvis Lives" and have nothing about Elvis in it!!! Know what I mean!!! But if people are expecting a certain content and end up a bit confused over the "Vlog", what about Presents.... Irish Guy Presents!!! Then present any material you like, but I love what your doing at the minute and Fridays for me now is "I wonder what David has for us today".... and I'm sure most of your subscribers are like myself..... Entirely up to you at the end of the day but rest assured, randomness or not, I'll be here on Fridays waiting..... Good luck with the soul searching!!!! 👍👍👍👍

Thanks Ollie, yeah maybe I am overthinking it! And your right, I never thought of it like that. I follow channels with dumb names and I follow them because I like their content, it doesn't have anything to do with anything lol. I think because "vlogs" is in my name, maybe that's what people expect to see, which is fair enough. Honnestpy I really appreciate your input and it's great to get an outside perspective on it because I know I can over think things too. A few people said it to me over the past year or so and i just wanted to out it out there to see how my subs felt about it and most of them seem to be saying the same thing, don't change and I'm good with that 😅 Glad I can give you soemthing to look forward to at the end of the week and they'll get better and better as I do too. Thanks again ☘️

Looking at other channels i follow, some have multi channels. So you could have one for your keen interest on film marking and related issues. You then can keep this for one with the Irish focus which can be a mixture of subjects as you have done already. Nothing wrong with throwing in a random video in now and again. Of course if it's 90% random and only 10% Irish then the name might confuse the random viewer but you can write something in the bio what your current video plan is and that can be changed when your able to get on the road. I wouldn't hope people grumble about to much random stuff. At the end of the day, part of the reason for coming back is because people connect with you. They like your personality and surely random videos is part of that appeal. For reference in case you wondered. I come across your page searching for videos on Kilrush. Liked what i saw and have watched since.

Hey, thanks for your comment. Another friend of mine mentioned something similar yesterday, about having a separate channel for my bigger Video projects. I do have another channel but it only has one video on there so far 😂 It will eventually be the page of the company I want to start up, so maybe that can tie everything together, or help cross promote when the time comes 🤔 Yeah you're probably right in that, I know myself I like a variety of videos and it shows different sides to the creator too, it just one dimensional with one specific thing they like. I'm a scatterbrained kind of person with so many interests 😂 that's just me. And I guess that's the best way to gonforward, by just continuing being myself and if people follow me they do if they don't, then they weren't my intended audience anyway 😅 Really?? That's awesome! I don't have Kilrush tagged in many of my videos so it's cool that you found me like that and I'm glad you did! 😄 Thanks for your support and feedback, I really appreciate it ☘️

Maybe it's "Vlogs" that brings people here initially, but it's your personality and content that keep people hanging around. Keep doing what you love doing and a rebrand could be a good thing, now. I wouldn't what to call it though, "The Irish Guy David"? Good luck!

Thanks Bas! And you're right, it is about personality, that's definitely why I subscribe to other channels. That's why I subbed to yours! I think maybe I was overhthinking it a bit too much and I let it get to me. I just want to make it my channel the best it can be and I was worried that it might be hurting it somehow without really knowing if I was. @@DEADLINETV haha that's true! I think in my mind, and probably just in mine, that vlogs over time have became a specific type of video, like travelling, concerts, events and things like that. But you're right, it's just a vidoe log and it's up to me to make it as good as I can 💪🏻

Dude the only thing I expect from you channel is to do what you do and enjoy and do what you want to do. Don’t listen to anyone else. If you make the choice to rebrand that’s in you. If a few leave they leave if you gain you gain. But I’m sure with all the random you do are and for certain make you you and not your name. People follow you and take the time out of their day to watch what you are doing and enjoy you for you not your name! Kinda down to how you define Vlog really. Isn't a vlog a video log? So it's about you and whatever you're up to or what you're into. Unless you have a completely boring life then a personal vlog is going to have variety. I've looked into Irish vloggers and if they're not yet done copying Jenna Marbles it's largely them coming and going to and from work or their sports/hobbies. You do have a niche with your Irish head on ya and accent and living in the Wesht of Ireland. The majority of Irish vloggers seem to be all cut from the same middle class or hipster or trendy bolts of cloth. Don't compare yourself to them at any rate. Also that argument for niche is countered on YT with others saying if you don't have one to do verity until you do find onr. You're thing is very distinctive anyway and if you got picked up by some American viewers you'd spread far and wide, especially if you're bringing them local stuff. Start another channel for the project pieces but dance round them on the vlog to push traffic there. We intersect on several things you've covered not just the one, heritage, video, Geocaching and local radio being the main ones. Ya don't normally find those things on the one channel so variety does appeal to many. Ultimately you are the brand and you are the product here. I'm here to find out what Dave got up to this week and maybe learn a few things on the way.

Thanks Dave! I really appreciate your opinion. I get what you're saying. I used to watch other Irish vloggers, but I stopped because they were honestly boring I'm not saying I'm way better than them but some variety would have kept me a lot more interested in their content. So I get where you're coming from. And I LOLd at the you saying my niche is my Irish head and accent and living in the Wesht. As funny as it it, you're actually right. That's my usp. I'll have to think on it sone more but you made a great point there.. I'm not 100% sure about another channel right now, I plan to start streaming again on mixer fairly soon, doing some gaming and I'll see how the work load for that is going before starting a new channel. I have my lukewarm volcano page which I only have one video up on but that would do for larger project videos and maybe even for promoting other people's work 🤔 so it wouldn't be too hard to get rolling. You've definitely got the cogs turning man, so thank you! 😅☘️
