Question: Should I Delete the Preloaded Manufacturer Software on My Windows 8 PC?

Ғылым және технология

I have installed windows 8 in my laptop. It is as Asus and I want to now if any of the asus application are actually useful or if i can do without them. Also there is always a lot of background processes and i do not know how to cope with them, can I delete every single windows 8 app, as long as i do not find it useful, would that actually help in the performance of my laptop, or do I upgrade to windows 8.1 .

CCleaner's startup manager is good for less advanced users but those who really understand what they are doing should be using Autoruns.

so I like this vid for the MOST part.... but what I've told my clients is consider what you are doing... if this windows device you are buying is for YOU and you are a casual user, IE email, online apps, office apps, then don't worry about what you have, it will work... if you are a dedicated user, meaning you use the device for a specific function then you want that function to work at the most attuned setting possible. To do this then my advice as always been that if you buy a computer then make the unfortunate decision to pay for the over priced software that accompanies software. That way you can reformat the computer or laptop and have just the operating system and nothing more. Then all you do is install the software you DO use.

There is also the risk of "junk" still being left after removing. I have to admit I ditch the software I get with every laptop (refomat).

Luv ccleaner, use it ~every 1-2 months to check on stuff. Soluto may be better for the average user though. It is not as powerful but more automated and has most of the same features. May have to sign up for it now, still free though.

Eli I would like to ask you if it is possible to get another drier for my touchpad. I have an ASUS bought recently and it has "Asus smart gesture' it is good and bad. The bad part is there is no 'sensitivity adjustment' and it is terrible. Just breath and it goes all over the place. My previous laptop I was able to download anoter mfg.driver and use it. However I am having erouble finding a driver and switching with the Asus. Any ideas?THank yoi

How about deleting the trial Microsoft Office, I still got the old Office 2007 disk, I am happy with that. I am afraid that deleting the office trial might delete some part of the bigger Windows operating system. Are my fears justified or imagined? Thanks Moonpie001

The most sensible thing you can do with an Windows 8 computer is to format the computer entirely and install Linux.

"bsd" i'd say yes if BSD supported more software. the amount of software that linux supports is tolerable but almost nothing supports BSD

Windows 8.1 is the best Microsoft OS now. Windows 7 is too old, windows 8 is an incomplete version of 8.1, and windows 10 is by far, but really far, the worst of all!!!

Bert Bijn Windows 8 is not very Tech friendly, It makes even the most experienced techs look novice because of how much searching you have to do just to get to a program that is related to Windows.
