Quest X5 & X10 Metal Detector Charging port protector when using headphones.

Having just purchased my first metal detector, Quest X10 I read in the guide that the weather cap that covers the USB and Headphone port should be secure to prevent moisture or sand from entering.
The problem is if you are using headphones then the cap has to be removed and the USB port is left unprotected.
I decided to make a little cover that can be placed over the ports and the headphones plug through a hole in it, this covers the USB and gives it some protection from splashes etc.

Great idea and video!! I noticed the same problem so I bought USB port protector plugs..The are inexpensive but this is a great idea and will try it out! They didn't think it through as they should have put the headphone jack and USB port separate with different covers.

Hello Jason, I didn't look to see if there was anything readily available to be honest. Having looked at some of the plugs on eBay I would have to trim a bit off the plug as my headphone jack plug is right on the edge of the USB. If left as they come it would prevent the jack from going all the way home. I think when they designed the detector it's like anything else, cost. I guess they saved a little by only needing one door over the ports and when that's spread over many units it all adds up. They tell us to make sure the weather cover is in place but if your using headphones it's impossible. Many thanks.
