Looks great, yes You are correct, let the new growth continue to grow. It will help the pumpkin to continue growing longer after the old leaves start to die off.

One more recommendation. You had mentioned watering 50 gallons a day. For a plant and pumpkin of that size, If there’s no rain you could safely water 150 gallons per day. Again your doing great!

Nicely done. I think I asked on another videos but this one is more recent. When you pollinate a quality pumpkin plant to keep those good genetics do you pollinate with male flowers from the same plant or a completely different plant?

You can do either. A lot of growers like to cross pollinate between two well known seeds and some will actually grow certain seeds ONLY to use as a pollinator. I however did not do that because I had this one plant so this one was pollinated with its own males.

@steves_garage awesome. I was just worried about inbreeding depression which may not even be a thing with squash. Either way selfing the plant should lock in those vigorous genetics even if I have to over plant to find them later
