Join me for a discussion as I dig more deeply into the importance of knowing your scales.
A mentor of mine taught me that “Small hinges swing Big doors”
Today’s hinge is Scales.
I didn’t know how to play my scales with the proper fingering until months before entering college. Once I really learned them my playing continued to advance and became more precise.
Also, I didn’t start playing piano until about age 12 and only knew how to play in the key of C for a long time.
Hinge 2 and 3 coming soon
If you wanted to learn more with me and become part of my student group, you can start your journey with me as your guide in volume one of my course. “Conquering the Foundation”

Quennels gift is different when it comes to combining classical Jazz, rag, classical with modern day music. The others mentioned are great but when it comes to historical music with a modern day flaire , quennel is the best.
I went to five towns with you brother you showed me so much I still talk about I appreciate all the lessons 🙏🙏🙏
Dude you just are WORLD CLASS. CONTINUE!
14:46 just a reminder to go back and practice this progression.

Fireworks 💥
I think this is the original source where most keyboardists today got knowledge from.
Please do a demonstration of how you learn a song and talk through your thinking. That would be really eye opening. Thanks!

How long should I practice 1 scale before I change keys? How many hours a day should I practice scale?
What is the software that shows your chord choices?
Small hinges swing big doors!
This has a nice Mr. Rodgers vibe. He might be on to somn...
Uuuuuuwi this is crazy
you move in the light of lightning
My goodness............
just curious to know what your BPM was at this video and what it is now??????i have been rehearsing HANON for some years at BPM 130 unfortunately l stopped playing for a year and it was impossible to even reach BPM 80 as at now
I wonder what keyboard he’s playing? Really impressive if it’s a weighted keybed (wow)

If you see some praise break sheds like the one with glenn gibson, or if he's at NAMM at the baby grand or grand piano section. He does what he does on the soft keyboard touch or weighted keys. A true gift
The lick @ 0:31
🎹👍🌺/from Russia
seems the questionnaire weren't keyboardists there are some vital questions to development l would have loved to ask

Abraham Ntuk do you already play piano?
@bsdguy
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Quennel, I'm not sure what happened to Abraham. I'm a bass player that is trying to learn keys. For years when I have set down to try to practice, I always end up playing blues in F. So I am interested in the answer to Abraham's question. Thanks so much.

Could you consider doing a video on approach and applying what you're actually playing between questions...its sounds great but it would be cool to do what we hear you doing...

🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Why is people asking stupid questions like: "when did you start playing scales?" If you want to learn ask the right questions.
Quennel Gaskin is much better, than Cory Henry

I feel like Quennel is more like classical and Cory is more funky and has that great rhytm feel. Harmony wise they are both beyond human capabilities.

No one in this world can’t play like this dude. Nobody.
The dude asking him questions was acting like a reporter we love Quennel but we didn’t come here for his bio we came here to learn music can you please stick to music theory please... Like For Example The Harmonic Minor and how to differently apply it to Gospel Music Which Quennel tried to do but the Reporter/Interviewer Ugh....
@QuennelGaskin
4 жыл бұрын
My endeavor wasn’t to offer theory in this. The interviewer did what was doing what he was asked to do as my team member.
My man is just talking non-schalant and playing this ridiculousness!
We all miss this type of video tutorial, now this guy barely show us how to play like him lol
