Learning to play Quennel's "At the Cross" Unscripted and Unedited
Музыка
Recording my thought process as I learn a song from Quennel Gaskin. "At the cross" is a nice gospel hymn complete reharmonized by Quennel.

Ik you said you don't have a perfect ear, I wanna know who the he'll told you that, lol. I guess you mean if someone was to start singing you would have to find their key, however if you can hear all of those advance/ fusion chords thats a perfect ear to me, love it my brother keep it up please.GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!

Everyone says perfect pitch cause they want a quick understanding of how I’m picking up chords. But hearing chords has little to do with perfect pitch. I have tons of vids on the channel that talk about the process. Perfect pitch cannot be improved but the ear can, see latest vid on this Tips to hearing difficult gospel chords, runs, and moves |Ear Training and Breakdown

@@SeanWilsonPiano I think I understand what you are saying, my definition of perfect pitch is if some one start to sing you can start playing in that key without hesitation with no fumbling, however your great and thanks so much for your reply, i think ive seen all of your vids, and all of them are awesome, will continue to follow you, your the best to me, stay blessed.

That’s not perfect pitch that a REALLY good ear. Which you can develop as well. There is a link where I’m doing that on the channel, sometime in 2017

@@kennethjoshua3325 that's true pitch or pitch memory which I believe Sean has. It also let's you find the key of a song without an instrument but it's not quite perfect pitch
@SeanWilsonPiano
4 жыл бұрын
@@zoans6731 yes your memory serves you correct, I used the term "tonal memory" and "pitch recognition" which is my ability to remember what a note sounds like. People do this all the time, start singing a song in the same key even if they aren't musicians. They just remembered the notes, but that combined with good relative pitch, and a good ear, will be far more powerful than perfect pitch. FAR MORE... perfect pitch doesn't hear chords
This guy, goodness me, when Quennel plays, goosebumps all over. I can't imagine how many hours of grind he put in to hone his skills to that ridiculous level of monstership.
This Sean dude is FIRE!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Anybody ever watch the movie “Five Deadly Venoms”. Where the guy had a pupil that learned some of every one of the venom fighting styles. His name was “Yang Tieh” That’s what Sean is, he’s Yang Tieh. He can learn all of the styles. .

Finally, someone says relative pitch. That’s much closer to what it is, people say “perfect pitch” to cover everything... Anyway, off my soapbox, thanks man
Hi Sean,in spite of the fact that you are the best musician and share your experience for nothing, but most of all I like your human emotionality and admiration by other musicians for their performance. Just this also shows that you are a very good person. Thank you for your great work done!!!

Bruh.... I'm going to start supporting the hell out of you from now on. What software did you use on this video to reflect what you were playing?
There is also this guy who is deceased now I forgot his name, he post his videos as hammondxc3, the way this guy plays the hammond organ is amazing along with his setting, most organist can't get a Hammond to sound like that, however I would love for you to break down his preacher chord tutorial, I can't see what he is doing and I know you know, it would be greatly appreciated if you can ever find the time.stay safe my brother!!!!!!!

Is he still in the key of F# ? I wonder how is he moving in terms of numbers
@jairusdixon1758
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, always in the key. He just uses different movements and passing chords to get to the diatonic chords. The diatonic chords can also sound “out of the key” because of the extensions to them, but he stays in key, unless quick transposition through secondary dominants”
Sounds like lift every voice and sing

The major/minor/diminished movement going to Emajor7 is 100% Barry Harris' approach (probably mr. Barry got it from Mary Lou William, or Bach... He says jazz is the continuation of classical)
