Eddie and Scott are the foundation of QR's sound and they are the ultimate on this album - they definitely don't get the kudos they deserve !!! Another great one is "Spreading the Disease" - hell you need to just review the album as a whole so you can experience the story in it's entirety, its amazing that 30 + yrs later how relevant it's subject matter STILL is !!!!! Great stuff you two keep em coming !!!

Incredible album and concept, one of the best in the Rock idiom. Also play some classics from their Warning album, like the title track, Sanctuary and On the Road to Madness. If you have not seen Take Hold of the Flame live in Tokyo 1984, do that instead of the studio, it is Geoff Tate at his best and the original band is amazing right from the get-go. Enjoy! 🎸

Tate hits that E5 belt in his head mix, and he's a baritone. Front nasal and excellent resonance placement. Crazy. This is a concept album with a story that's tragic. You should sit down and go thru it with the lyrics. It's amazing. It sits under The Wall for me on my top list.

Hmmm, the guy with the gun (Nikki) gets the gun from Dr. X (guy with the goatee) when he carries out his assassination assignments for Dr. X. Nikki's not really defending himself from him. BUT, it's a complicated story and Queensryche purposely included some slightly misleading visuals throughout the story, but listening closely to the lyrics will reveal all! EPIC, MONSTER OF AN ALBUM!!

@@purplekat5864 The cover of the album/cassette also looks like Nihilistic/Hitler. The Mission" and Suite Sister Mary" seemed like Bugs Bunny in the cartoon he floats down the river and ends up meeting the evil ether scientist and the red monster. Glad I don't have a castle haha -- it is funny/strange how big things like that were in the 80s and early 90s

At one point, Queensryche was actually more successful than Iron Maiden in 1990 - 1995 (This was 1988 when they started to break big commercially) The original band was truly a musical force... 🤘🤘But alas, all good things pass... and they ventured into non-metal music for decades... But thankfully, they made a comeback into heavy metal these last 10 years. Michael Wilton (guitar) does not get enough credit as a musician, but he was overshadowed by guitarist/ songwriter Chris DeGarmo for years, until DeGarmo left the band in 1998... The current Queensryche is an incredible band live in concert - I can attest to that! Michael Wilton (guitar) and Eddie Jackson (bass) are the only original members left... Todd LaTorre (vocals) does a great job singing (former vocalist) Geoff Tate's songs live... Mike Stone (guitar) and Casey Grillo (drums) are currently touring w/ the band.

Now to understand what this song is talking about you MUST go back through the ENTIRE CD from front to the end WITHOUT jumping songs or you will never understand what the full story is on the Operation album. Speak - Track 5 and is towards the Middle of the Album just before Track 6 Spreading the Disease. Speak talks about a Revolution that Dr X wants to happen with the help with a Druggie named Nikki who is hired by Dr X for a mission that Dr. X has for him in return for Nikki's Drug fix. (Revolution Calling) Track 3 Nikki ends up meeting and falling in love with a Nun who is a Former Prostitute (Suite Sister Mary) who you meet in Track - 6 Spreading the Disease and that the Priest takes Mary on a Vacation to Bang her. Track - 7 Mission you see Dr. X again who tried to get Nikki to Kill both the Priest and Sister Mary but Nikki can't bring himself to Kill Mary so Dr X ends up Murdering Sister Mary himself by Strangling her using the Rosary to kill her. Nikki finds out about Mary being killed in Track - 8 Suite Sister Mary When Nikki ends up pouring his heart out but Because that Nikki feels that Mary never said goodbye and she stole his heart he ends up Not Believing in Love Track - 12 (I don't believe in Love) Nikki ends up getting caught for a murder that he didn't commit and is sentenced to spend time in a Mental Hospital Track - 13 Waiting on 22 And the Mental Breakdown that Nikki suffers Track - 13 My Empty Room Then Nikki starts to understand that he can't break the Mental Grip that Dr X has on him and he takes a hard inner look at himself and comes to Reality of what has happened and that Dr X is Responsible for the death of Mary Track - 15 Eyes of a Stranger where the story comes to a close and Nikki has to deal with the Mental Hell that he has put himself through this entire time over his love for Sister Mary

I believe that when the original lineup fragmented in the middle to thousands or so, I could have that timeframe incorrect I'm not certain... that Geoff Tate the singer kept the right to perform this record and its entirety exclusively and the rest of the guys kept the band name. Before they had reached this term and settled accordingly, there were actually two operating versions of Queensryche out there on the circuit and it was kind of confusing. They will probably never reconcile at this point there's been way too much bad blood but queens ryke were a force of nature Once Upon a Time and the current version is not shabby at all, great singer stepping in to Jeff bootz can't be easy but the dude has done very well

Just like there's no replacing Peter Steele of Type O Negative, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell Soundgarden, this is one of those cases like Type O Negative they should just start anew. They disband because it's not Type O Negative without Peter Steele, just like the new Queensryche isn't near as good or the same without the mighty Tate on the mic
