I've listened to hard rock my whole life (26 years). Not once have I heard these guys on any FM rock station. Nobody ever mentioned them, never heard of them until I bought a newer truck 2 years ago and got 3 months of free satellite radio. It really is a shame how many great bands never got any air time.

Queensryche, didn't get any help from UK radio or TV but were huge in the States and Canada in 1991 which is where I bought the Empire CD (on my honeymoon). I saw Geoff a week ago (May 2022) in a club venue in Newcastle where he did the entire rage to order album and Empire album in two sets. He was amazeballs vocally, and the band were cracking (i.e. very good) too. I've now just seen Whitesnake and Europe and neither Coverdale nor Tempest came even close to their younger vocal performances unlike Geoff. Quite how he sang two full sets then ended on a song with the high notes of Queen of the Ryche I don't know. He sung even better than when I saw QR supporting Dio in the mid '80s. I know he and the rest of the guys had a big falling out with court cases etc, but a Queensryche reunion would be made so much better as a result.
@johnbraucher1499

By far not the only band either. For example they never play any of disturbed songs except for those two they're most known for since 2001. Stupify and down with the sickness. I decided one day, almost twenty years late, to check out their entire PLAYLIST, at the time all 113 songs including their off songs, odd balls and rare songs. Every SINGLE ONE of them are at LEAST good, if not AMAZING. I can't believe they only play their mainstream ones. They have some EXCELLENT MATERIAL all through their career. It's absolute shame they didn't get more exposure for their other songs through their career.

I don't know what stations you were listening to, but I remember you couldn't go 15 mins. without hearing Silent Lucidity. I love older era Queensryche but I can't listen to that track to this day. Anything else while DeGarmo was still with them is gold, though. Tate's voice back then was supernatural.

Only one person survived in what became known as the "Chinatown Massacre," the worst mass murder in Seattle's history.' Queensryche has always been very topical in their music. Yeah... the crime is upticking big time now. Crime unfortunately is the domain of the less intelligent and less educated but instead of making sure our children learn why crime is bad we worry about money constantly. We need to start finding out what our children are good at at a young age and then hone those skills so they will be able to make a living not teach a bunch of random crap they'll never use. I never found out what I would of been good aside from video games because nobody around me cared to find out what any of us were good at.

Or should I say that their commentary has proven to be false that none of the doomsday scenarios liberals predicted in the 80's came to be. Don't get me wrong, I love Queensryche, and I even love this song. But you can't change certain human natures. All their religious commentary in the Operation: Mindcrime era looks a bit silly today. Religious leaders have almost no impact on politics today unlike the 1980's. But I can see how it looked scary in the 80's. Even I got annoyed that religious leaders were trying to dictate what I could see on TV. But the conservative movement is dead (as seen with the recent Supreme Court decisions).

Saw the following wirtten about this song "Queensrÿche has never been shy to speak their minds in their music. Their outspoken and political style have make them one of the most distinguished bands of all time. They’ve written about war, drugs, politics, and all of the above. There hit song ‘Empire’ is no different, but just how accurate is it in regards to political information and current crisis’? VERY! ‘Empire’ was originally a narrative about a young man who sold drugs and got too deep into the business. But plot-line of this song is SHOCKINGLY factual! In the bridge of this iconic song, you’ll hear frontman Geoff Tate recite factual information about government spending. Though the information was based off of statistics from 1990, the information isn’t actually as dated as you would think! The bridge is truly compelling and resonates heavily to this day. But the most shocking part is how true and impactful this song is just with this factual information alone. It’s always scary when a song predicts the future,..."

racefan32 , Very well put! I've heard Geoff say that some songs are timely and others are timeless. You're exactly right about their music being more relevant today. A couple of good examples are Resistance, N M 156 and Enforce. I heard Geoff say in an interview, about the inspiration for The Warning album, that it was the Bible. Specifically, the book of John. I thought it seemed strange, because out of the 4 gospels, John is the only one that doesn't have the Olivet disclosure.

It's absolute shame they didn't get more exposure for their other songs through their career.

only when we rise up as a group and end all the rich/evil fuckers, taking the piles of wealth they have stolen from the rest of us and using it to advance humanity(just think we could have all new roads and bridges nationwide in under 5 years which would also employ nearly everyone out of work or not working enough hours to survive and at a decent wage as well) we could actually cure diseases instead of just "treating them" if all big pharma was owned by the citizens of the USA(yep all those ceos and boards need to be found hanging from lightpoles in every town in America)...........imagine the space exploration we could do if we refunded NASA(how did that one thing not cause instant riots in the streets??? just goes to show that there are more idiots than smart people) with a few percentage points worth of the money we throw away on weapons/wars we should never have gotten into...... we could instead.......bring home all of our soldiers and have them help rebuild Puerto Rico, Texas, Florida and the rest of our falling apart country................let the arabs eat oil.....ditto russia...............just stop sending money/medical supplies/food to those places and let mother nature have her way with them(last i knew you can't eat sand or oil so...............yeah).

Geoff's voice and passion when singing in "We're stars" video clip, awakened my curiosity, I went and searched for him and the band and that was it, I just felt in love with them 😍❤️
Cant figure whats better,vocals,the sublime bass lines or the thunder guitar tones..
"On Feb. 19, 1983, three men stormed into the underground gambling club, where they hogtied and robbed 14 people. To cover their tracks, they methodically shot all 14. Only one person survived in what became known as the "Chinatown Massacre," the worst mass murder in Seattle's history.' Queensryche has always been very topical in their music. That was such a tragic day, and yet, they chose to share the story, with dramatic license, about the up-tick of crime.. Always will be one of my favorite bands of all time!

Yeah... the crime is upticking big time now.
