This video, and all of the reaction videos on this channel, transform the original material from entertainment into education. The original content that is “reacted” to is analyzed by a musician who is now disabled and uses the performance to highlight technique and further discuss all aspects of the music-making process. In addition, musical theory and style choices are also often analyzed and discussed.
While the video does use the entire song (as things such as vocal endurance and song structure must also be considered), there are many pauses. In addition, often the original content is examined to further explain the musical process. During pauses, the reactor goes into detail on how sounds are produced, why or why not they are good, or if they are particularly difficult to make or play. The pauses often last a long time, so much so that this video cannot be considered a replacement for the original material. A link to the original video is always placed in the About section, and viewers are encouraged to watch it without pauses and commentary.
Please do note the total time of this video compared to how long the original song is. That should give you an impression of the lengthy commentary provided. If you wish for further proof of the educational purpose of this channel, please look at my other videos on vocal techniques, and singer health.

Thank you for sharing your love for Freddie. He truly left a lasting impact on so many people. I don't really have a reason why I haven't really delved into their non commercial stuff. As I said, I've even seen the movie, twice I loved it. I mean, there are many bands I love that I haven't went into their discography as far as what didn't come on the radio. bands like Kansas, REO Speedwagon, Rolling Stones and many others. I just recently found out that I really like a lot of blue oyster cult stuff. I mean, of course, I had heard, don't fear the Reaper. So I'm going to keep this in mind from now on. And when I'm trying to find something, listen to dive into some of these bands I have loved all my life, that I have no idea what a lot of their music is. But yes, vocally, Freddie is unmatched. And he is missed. And he was terribly judged, but not by me. It was a form of judgment when I said that he was mildly over-rated is how I thought of it in my head. Now I say out loud that in my mind he was terribly underrated.

I have been a Queen fan since my sister bought the album Sheer Heart Attack and let me listen. That started my addiction. I saw them 3 times during the 80s and of all my many concerts throughout the yeard those stand out as the best. If you want example of Freddie in action, I suggest the Rainbow Concert 1974, Wembley 1985 or for the ultimate 20

Freddie was an incredible singer with perfect timing, astounding range, and a great dramatic vibrato. He also had a legendary stage presence and charisma, not to mention the fact that he could apply both of these gifts to any style of music that the band decided to dabble in. There will never be another band like Queen. Rock In Paradise, Freddie, your influence is still felt to this day! 🤘❤

You didn't forget! I think this is the closest I've ever seen you to speechless! There has been and forever will be only one Freddie Mercury. Quite literally a freak of nature, he famously had 4 extra top teeth which gave him the cavernous upper palate that acted like an echo chamber. While he was terribly self conscious of this growing up, he later refused to have this condition rectified because of the change it would make to his voice. His stage presence is masterful, effortlessly choreographed in a way that no other performer emulates - your eyes are riveted to him and you cannot look away. Queen the band as a whole is stellar, with Brian May often rated as one of the best guitarists in the business. And Brian and Roger Taylor, both formidable vocalists in their own right, create the harmonies that hit you like a wall of sound. In fact, Roger's range is similar to Freddie's - he sings the top note in Bohemian Rhapsody, hitting the falsetto Bb5 on "for meee" (I had to look that up). "Freddie Mercury's vocal range spanned an impressive four octaves. While Freddie Mercury's entire vocal range was awe-inspiring, one note, in particular, stands out as an astonishing feat. In the song "The Show Must Go On," Freddie reaches an incredibly high note known as a B5." This performance is electric, and in my opinion the best example of Queen and Freddie's brilliance. I could watch it over and over again. On the subject of Delta Goodrem's cover, it's pointless to compare. She doesn't try to be Freddie, she is just Delta, her piano and a sole violinist, as minimalist as Queen's original is spectacular. It is a fabulous song that deserves to be played and sung, not filed away in the annals of Queen discography. If you watch Delta's performance again, I think you will still get chills, and likely crush on Delta big time as she smiles that bewitching smile at you.😉

Danny's reaction was hilarious, moving, and priceless! I agree with you in that Delta took the song in a very soft, minimalist direction, whereas Queen's was arena-rock bombast at it's finest. The thunder of the heavens called to set fire to hearts that would soon be mourning the passing of a legend. Both pull at the heartstrings in different ways. Freddie's combination of flamboyant charisma and fierce vocal talent was matched by very few. He is one of the greatest to ever do it. 🤘❤🤘

People keep trying to sum up the frontman of Queen by saying there will never be another Freddie Mercury. And he is unique, but what they need to be saying is that there will never be anyone as good as Freddie. He wasn't a saint, but he could sing, write, perform, and engage the audience better than anyone else, ever.

And I completely agree with you. But if we're looking at it objectively, and we as superfans usually do not, LOL. there are so many singers that think so much different types of music. It's hard to put anyone as the greatest ever. Now, operatic rock and roll. Yeah, by far. Nobody even in close proximity. I do not say this to undermine your statement. It's just that I hear this a lot from every single band in their front men or whoever it may be. Everyone saying that this is the greatest. No one compares ever, ever, ever. There are different types of songs, too. I mean, I think Dr Dre is the greatest rapper ever. Can you compare dr dre and Freddie Mercury? I think Hank Williams junior is one of the best country singers, performers ever. You can't compare that to Freddie Mercury. I'm just trying to give some examples of what I'm saying. The best band to perform light shows and atmospheric atmosphere. for like a better words, Pink Floyd. And a band that makes you understand, through words, not directly. Emotions would be Tool. So again, I agree with you. And I will say that my opinion on Freddie Mercury is completely different now. and having 200 bands that I would say are my favorite. and vocalists. Freddie Mercury is now in my top 20. I do not say that lightly.

Freddie never sang this song live at any concert. "Show Must Go On" is a song by British rock band Queen, featured as the twelfth and final track on their 1991 album, Innuendo. It is credited to Queen, but written mainly by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of frontman Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life, although his diagnosis with HIV/AIDS had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation that he was seriously ill. When the band recorded the song in 1990, Mercury's condition had deteriorated to the point that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. May recalls; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal". The power ballad was released as a single in the United Kingdom on 14 October 1991 in promotion for the Greatest Hits II album, just six weeks before Mercury died. Following Mercury's death on 24 November 1991, the song re-entered the British charts and spent as many weeks in the top 75 (five) as it did upon its original release, initially reaching a peak of 16. A live version with Elton John on vocals appeared on Queen's Greatest Hits III album. The song was first played live on 20 April 1992, during The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, performed by the three remaining members of Queen, with Elton John singing lead vocals and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi playing rhythm guitar. It has since been played live by Queen + Paul Rodgers and Queen + Adam Lambert with Rodgers citing one of the performances as the best of his career. Since its release, the song has appeared on television, film (including an operatic version in Moulin Rouge!), and has been covered by a number of artists. In 2014, CBC's Hockey Night in Canada used the song in their closing montage after the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup, in the final CBC NHL game before Rogers Sportsnet took over. After listening to John Deacon and Roger Taylor playing the chord sequence that later on would be the basis for almost the entire song, Brian May sat down with Freddie Mercury and the two of them decided the theme of the song and wrote some lyrics. May wrote down the rest of the words as well as the melody, and added a bridge with a chord sequence inspired by Pachelbel's Canon. May was convinced the song's title was too predictable and offered to change it, but Mercury refused. Demo versions featured May singing, having to sing some parts in falsetto because they were too high. When May presented the final demo to Mercury, he had doubts that Mercury would be physically capable of singing the song's highly demanding vocal line, due to the extent of his illness at the time. To May's surprise, when the time came to record the vocals, Mercury consumed a measure of vodka and said "I'll fucking do it, darling!" then proceeded to perform the vocal line. May sang most of the backing vocals (including the last line) and played Korg M1 synthesiser as well as guitar. Producer David Richards suggested the key-shift in the second verse. "The Show Must Go On" came from Roger and John playing the sequence, and I started to put things down. At the beginning, it was just this chord sequence, but I had this strange feeling that it could be somehow important, and I got very impassioned and went and beavered away at it. I sat down with Freddie, and we decided what the theme should be and wrote the first verse. It's a long story, that song, but I always felt it would be important because we were dealing with things that were hard to talk about at the time, but in the world of music, you could do it. - Brian May, 1994 The lyrics are full of allusions, metaphors and other figures of speech, making it somewhat difficult to understand. Thinly disguised tragedy ahead is announced. In the end, the text refers to the determination, the furious desire to live ("I have to find the will to carry on with the show") in spite of vanishing strength ("inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking").From the perspective of harmony, the song begins in B minor; then there is a modulation to C♯ minor as if the song implied a hope (an increase of tone); but eventually it falls back to B minor. I woke up one morning with this image of butterflies in my head, and I thought I would love to hear Freddie sing: 'My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies.' I thought: this is Freddie. And he's not going to write it for himself, because he wasn't going to thrust himself forward in that way, you know? But I can write it for him. I wanted to put those words in his mouth. And it was a gift from God. I don't even know where those lyrics came from. So I presented it all to him the next time he turned up in the studio, and by that time he was suffering a lot. He could hardly stand. I played him some of the demo, with me singing, which went incredibly high and was very difficult. In the past, Freddie was always shouting at me, like, 'It's too fucking high! You're making me ruin my beautiful voice!' So he downed a couple of vodkas, neat, then propped himself up on the desk and worked his way through singing all of that song. And it was amazing. I think he did three or four takes, and he absolutely smashed that vocal. It's like he reached into a place that even he'd never got to before. I remember saying to Freddie, 'I don't want you to hurt yourself. You know, don't force yourself to do this if it's not going to feel good.' But he said, 'I'll fucking do it, Brian!' And he did. And it was beautiful. I think it's one of his finest performances of all time. It's incredible. - Brian May, 2023 With Mercury's condition having deteriorated significantly due to complications with HIV/AIDS, no new footage of the lead singer was shot. The music video instead consisted of a montage of clips spanning Queen's music videos from 1981 to 1991, as a precursor to the imminent release of the band's Greatest Hits II album spanning that period. Footage from promo videos from the 1980s are shown in the montage, apart from "Under Pressure" and "Hammer to Fall", including "I Want to Break Free", "Friends Will Be Friends", "I'm Going Slightly Mad", "Breakthru", "Radio Ga Ga", "The Miracle", "The Invisible Man", "Headlong", "Calling All Girls", "Body Language", "Innuendo", "Back Chat", "Who Wants to Live Forever", "Scandal", "Princes of the Universe" and "One Vision". This, along with the manner of the song's lyrics, continued to fuel long-running media reports that Mercury was seriously ill, although it was still officially denied that anything was seriously wrong. The following month, Mercury finally announced that he was suffering from AIDS, and he died barely 24 hours after this announcement. The music video was compiled and edited by Austrian director team DoRo, consisting of Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher.

This was an amazing example of first rate editing, as Freddy never performed this live. Take a look at the official video, it was recorded 6 weeks before Freddy died from complications of the AIDS Virus. In the video, you can see how sick he was. Brian May didn’t think Freddy would be able to sing the song, and told him as much. 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal". Now watch the 21 minute video of Queen’s, Live Aid concert, performance. Freddy was also sick for this performance, not AIDS, but a severe throat infection, and he was told by his doctor, to not perform.

I really wish I would've known this. I've said it several times already in these communists, which I'm very grateful for, by the way. Thank you all for your engagement. I just told uh. in another comment, someone said someone said that Freddie Mercury was the best ever. I told them I agree. Only there is a lot of different kinds of vocals, a lot of different kinds of music and a lot of different ways to make music. So it's really hard for me to say one person is the best ever because there's so many different kinds of singing. I mean, Hank Williams Junior is an amazing instrumentalist can play anything. 1 entertainer of the year five times in a row. And he's not exactly country. but he's not exactly rock N roll. Two amazing performers. But you can't compare them to each other. That's kind of what I mean. But yeah, I'm so stoked to take a real live performance. O.M.G...... Seeing you react to THIS particular video makes me sooooo SAD. BECAUSE IT IS FAKE!!!! Freddie recorded this song when he was in the LAST MONTHS OF HIS LIFE... So, it was NEVER PERFORMED LIVE. And... knowing that he recorded this when he was physically so ill and weak that he literally could NOT stand up in the recording studio but instead had to be propped up against the desk, makes his vocals EVEN MORE ASTOUNDING. (I don't usually mind when fans make these "fantasy live performance" edits of Freddie, because I GET IT: We ALL MISS HIM, and we all wish he would've had time to perform these songs live that he recorded near the end of his life.) The ONLY reason that I don't like THIS particular "fantasy live edit"... is because the AUDIO IS ACTUALLY SUB PAR and doesn't do justice to Freddie's actual vocals. The audio of the original official music video - or there's also another EXCELLENT fan-made tribute video on YT, as well - actually do Freddie MORE justice than this does. You said "I had no clue he was so good"... and THIS was his vocals when he was sick and weak and near the end of his life... Just IMAGINE what he sounds like in his prime! (AND.... Freddie's ACTUAL LIVE vocals, BLOW THIS OUT OF THE WATER.) PLEASE TRY AGAIN.

HEY THERE… If you’d like to hear the song with the original audio and Freddie’s original vocals (before the “live echoing” effect was added to this fantasy live edit)… Here is a link to a really well-done video. (This one was also made by a fan… it has 174 million views. It includes some snippets of Freddie speaking, and lyrics on-screen.) The audio is excellent quality. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dYV1tpeqlKqepKw.htmlsi=0LvxILR37sr7gaJt And of course, there is also an original music video on the Queen channel. Both of these are a lovely tribute, showing scenes from Freddie’s career.

Thank you honestly. If nothing else, I'm going to watch this on my own and listen to it. I almost feel obligated to put it out there. I feel terrible. I mean, I know there was no way I could have known without doing a **** ton of research. Because we did research the song. I guess we didn't read the fine print, right? More queen to come for sure. And I'm going to check this out. Thank you.

@@DannyLeeOGT It would be really NICE if you could react to a “non-live” version… There will be other Freddie fans who will be squawking, as well, over this “fake live” video. (Partly because it’s “painful” to watch, knowing that Freddie was too sick/terminally ill to ever actually have done that.) …I feel bad for reactors of Queen songs because all the fans say: “React to the LIVE! React to the LIVE!” But then, like you said, you’d have no way of knowing (unless you’re a “hardcore” Freddie Mercury fan) that what you’re looking at is fake. (And, there are a lot lot LOT of “fantasy” edits of Freddie’s singing these days, esp with AI.) EASY RULE OF THUMB: ANY Queen song from their last three albums (1989 onward) has NO live Freddie performance. He quit live Queen touring post-1986. FROM FREDDIE SOLO: There ARE a handful of live Freddie performances c.1987-88, from his album of OPERA (titled Barcelona) with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé. …There are also NO live performances from Freddie’s 1985 solo album Mr. Bad Guy. (He never had time!)🖖

Believe it or not, Abba and Queen do have something in common, two best bands of all time ! Example, Queen had The Show Must Go On, We Are The Champions, Abba had The Winner Take It All, Thank You For The Music, they are very similar !

Yes, I am saddened by the news of how sick he was when he made this. part, I think Brian may actually wrote it, but Queen was always in agreeance that every written song would just be labeled written by Queen. Or that's what I'm understanding. Thank you so much.

This, I believe is just a fan edit because Freddie was too ill at this point to produce videos or perform on stage. To see a truly awesome live performance, you should check out “Somebody to Love” at the 1981 Montreal show.

Seems like you have COPD. Must be difficult to live with that. Anyway, Freddie never sang this live. It’s very sad that they knew he was dying and Brian thought he wouldn’t be able hit the high notes. He just leaned against the board downed a vodka and smashed it. Roger said he was awe struck.

End-Stage terminal 16% lung function. Yeah, it's kinda hard to hide. And I don't try to, but I don't want if this makes any sense, I don't want anyone to subscribe or to. feel sorry for me if that makes sense. I want people to love the art that I present. And I'm not just a reactor. I do have creations and I am a creator. Most of that was before reactions because that's what people really want to see. But thank you very much for noticing it does become complicated if you talk for a living and you don't have teeth and you're short on breath. But I'm 45 years old, and I'm still alive, and I'm doing what I love. So who am I to complain about the air I can't breathe? I'm going to appreciate the air I can. because light Freddie Mercury, a lot of people aren't here anymore, so I'm not going to complain. Much love and respect

Yeah, it's the same. There have been many bands that I have reacted to on this channel and that has opened my eyes so much. I mean, I was a music connoisseur and still am, but I mean, I didn't realize how many things I was missing out on by not like you said, taking a real deep dive into everything. from the instrumentals to the vocals to the production to the way they interact with each other to just be all in all discography of bands. Also lyrics I had been singing wrong for years.

Well I'm not saying they're not top tier but I don't really like to put nobody is the goat of Music let's just play too much music way too many different kinds of music in different kinds of vocalists and different kinds of style. The music is subjective so for them to be one band this is better than others is kind of impossible. But after just one Deep dive into a video that isn't even real I'm already got them twice as high as I did
