It was a boy that played Freddie. He was a child actor named Ross McCall, and continues to act now in his forties. This was done in November of 89 so Freddie had two years left with us. He was quite ill at this time according to Brian, and had grown his beard to cover up his facial lesions. Rest In Love beautiful Freddie ♥️👑🎹🎤🎸🥁

Brian May says that this is his FAVORITE song that Freddie wrote.... because even though Fred knew that he was terminally ill at the time that he wrote it, it's so full of hope, happiness and optimism.

This video is so much fun, and these kids are so talented. The little Dancing Disco Deaky always makes me smile, and the boy playing Freddie really got the moves down. But for some reason, I get a bit teary-eyed when the real Freddie comes on. Thanks for posting this reaction.

It was emotional because Freddie was so ill during the filming of the video. He stopped part way through and said he didn't feel well, but that he would finish it the next time they got together. Sadly, they never got together again, as Freddie died. This was the last video performance of Freddie.

Thanks for being a reactor that isn’t afraid to address Freddie’s illness. He was so brave, we should be too. ❤️

Great song❤️Hank is right. The video was made because they were to appear on Top of the Pops, because BoRap went to #1. They were going out on tour. So the video was made. ❤️🧡

One of my favorite Queen videos! The kids were so adorable & the one who played Freddie went on to become an actor. Yes, the BoRap video is considered the very first music video. Queen created the video as a promotional video!!

Hank .. an excellent vintage ... same era :) yes re BoRhap video because they were touring and couldn’t do Top of Pops (the must do music show in UK for promoting your song) . Loved the kids in this .. so good and they all looked like they were having a blast !

The boy who played Freddie later had a role in Band of Brothers.

For context I was about 5 or 6 when I got into Queen (Bohemian Rhapsody came as part of a various artists double cassette) and because they were playing on the radio and constantly making music in the 80s and appearing on Top Of The Pops etc. The song that got me into Queen was I Want to Break free which was played endlessly on the radio at the time, I would have been around 7 then. We also played them in school at the end of term disco

dont forget that Queen was making music and popular when this was made, so those kids would have heard Queen on the radio It would not have been an oldie when they were this age.

This wasn't old music in 1989 when this song was released. This is the music of the day. Queen was the type of music that the kids were listening to. Ross McCall, who played Freddie was 13 and the other 3, James Currie who was John, Adam Gladdish who was Roger, & Paul Howard who was Brian, were around the same age.
