Queen - Spread Your Wings (1977 - 1979) Queen Live Montage - Live Killers

Музыка

Music video for the Live Killers version of John Deacon's hit-song "Spread Your Wings" released on News of the World (which is probably my favourite) album in 1977, then as a single with "Sheer Heart Attack" on B-side in 1978. This particular version comes from Live Killers - Queen's 1979 live album, which was recorded during their European tour and later overdubbed in studio. Recording date is unknown. Video recordings come from multiple Queen live performances like Paris 1979 and Brussels 1979.
First Spread Your Wings performance took a place on 11th November 1977, but the only available complete video footage at the moment is Paris 1979, which is average-quality one-camera recording. The second most-complete is probably Brussels 1979, which emerged recently in a great quality.
Queen Live Montage is my own idea of making compilations. It's similar to videos like "Queen Through The Years", but not exactly. Those videos are usually quite random, poorly edited with multiple audio sources etc.
My Queen Live Montages series is different - it uses only one audio source per video, I don't mix videos with different aspect ratios. The idea is to make a CONSISTENT and aesthetic compilations by using best available video feeds. And - the most important point - to show the most interesting moments and the best angles.

@Michael Pluto Michael Pluto- I agree. Freddie also became very close to John, who was shy by nature and also was the "new" guy,-just like Freddie after Tim quit. Freddie was always there for John and they formed a tight bond and friendship. Thanks Michael Pluto! I love learning more about the band from everyone!

JD was Queen's most important song arranger, along with Freddie Mercury! Fred once said, "I can only write as good songs, depending on what the bass player is capable of..." That quote marks John Deacons' status for the band. Every Queen composition passed through Fred's and John's hands before it was recorded. They put them into shape because both were taught musicians, with a background in music theory, compared to May and Taylor. After Fred's death, John loyally retired while the other two made the awkward attempt to record an album. The Cosmos Rocks! But where are the good songs on this junk? The reason is no good songs without Fred and John.

Sammy was low, just watching the show Over and over again Knew it was time, he'd made up his mind To leave his dead life behind His boss said to him, "Boy, you'd better begin To get those crazy notions right out of your head Sammy, who do you think that you are? You should've been sweeping up the Emerald Bar" Spread your wings and fly away Fly away, far away Spread your little wings and fly away Fly away, far away Pull yourself together 'Cause you know you should do better That's because you're a free man He spends his evenings alone in his hotel room Keeping his thoughts to himself, he'd be leaving soon Wishing he was miles and miles away Nothing in this world, nothing would make him stay Since he was small, had no luck at all Nothing came easy to him Now it was time, he'd made up his mind "This could be my last chance" His boss said to him, "Now listen, boy! You're always dreaming You've got no real ambition, you won't get very far Sammy boy, don't you know who you are? Why can't you be happy at the Emerald Bar?" So honey, spread your wings and fly away Fly away, far away Spread your little wings and fly away Fly away, far away Pull yourself together 'Cause you know you should do better That's because you're a free man Come on, honey, fly with me

Bob, I just discovered this montage and wanted to THANK YOU for the Supreme Effort put into this!! It’s a tragedy there isn’t very much GOOD quality video footage of Queen in the late 70s, so this is HIGHLY APPRECIATED… I hadn’t even realized that they did this song live!

They performed the song from November 1977 up until December 26th, 1979 in the Hammersmith Odeon.
