Prince Phillip has been gone 1 year 5 months tomorrow. It has been said usually when a elderly spouse died the other one will pass within a year. The queen in all her grace has suffered quietly and with such dignity. You must know she has been heart broken and sad and lonely.

She will go well, she'll go surrounded by the best doctors other people's money can buy in her luxurious home, with her whole family around her. While hundreds of other men and women her age will die alone, freezing to death in their flats this winter. I thought she might have made it to 100, on average a wife usually lives longer than their husbands, George V's Queen lived for another 20 years after George V died, George VI's Queen lived much longer too.

This woman volunteered to stand with her military troops at war time. She put herself before an enemy, and displayed both courage and hope for her country....she helped rebuild a nation. Her efforts and dedication to Britain provides you the freedom and opportunity to post your sarcasm. Obviously, you take for granted that the images we see of Britain are those of civility, grace, and diplomacy...all guarded and practiced these last 70 years by Her Majesty.

She has never been Queen of England. That monarchy died out in the early 17th century and was replaced by the Scottish Royal bloodline, from which the Queen is a descendant of. The Queen is officially the Queen of the UK & Northern Ireland, with Queen Anne Stewart the first to have that title. Northern Ireland isn't a kingdom, but along with Wales, it is a member of the Union. It's why there are no English Crown jewels, and why Scotland's Crown jewels are kept in Edinburgh Castle, Scotland. The UK Crown jewels are kept in London.

It's a very, very remote relative to the house of Stuart and by the time George I ascended there were closer relatives of the Stuart line (to Queen Anne), however as they were catholics they were superceded in favor of Queen Annes closes living protestant relative (King George I, who were a second cousin on the female line). It's not a scottish royal family - it's a german one (however since the concept of nationality isn't developed till the late 19th century any distinction based on nationality is not only erroneous, it underlines a fundamental lack of historical understanding).

She's 96 years old and at that age issues are expected. However I am tired of these vultures circling around waiting for her to pass. I am in the health care field and I have seen people her age improve. She will get the best medical care in the world so let's not give up on her yet.

Sorry Jane, but if there was a chance of recovery they would never announce this. They wouldn't even say she was feeling poorly or tired. This is what we in the health care field call "the warning shot over the bow", or "raising black drapes". It is giving people time to accept what will inevitably follow, when you already know it's inevitable but the family, and in this case the world, needs time to process.

Everyone's time must come ..the queen was a grandmother to us all..when I told my 5 year old that the queen of England had passed he said ..she was quiet old mom but she was so sweet .That is so true..and so honest especially coming from a 5 year old ..May her sweet soul rest in peace and my condolences go out to the people of England and all who loved her 🙏. ..we will all miss her 😢 😔 ❤️

Her death was one of those moments where you remember where you were when you heard she was gone.
In Australia, at 7 am, in the car while taking him to school told me. I couldn't stop crying. I explained him, that might for his generation (15 yrs old) might be a big thing. But it for I grew w her ( I am 50).

The Queen has lived a very long and formidable life. I can't even fathom everything she has done for her people. I almost feel as though she's become a royal grandmother to so many of us. I lost my grandparents a couple years ago and it's so very hard, and with the Queen especially nations will be mourning for her. All I can ask is that she is kept comfortable and out of pain. No one deserves to suffer. My heart goes out to her and her family, and I hope she can rest easy, knowing that she lived a life full of important and wonderful service to her nation. Long live the Queen, and may her rest be peaceful ❤️

I remember seeing her in person when I was a small child when we lived in England. There was a parade, and I slipped out of my mother's grip, and I ran in front of the horses and guards. My father ran out and caught me, and our pictures were snapped on the front page of the newspaper! lol 😂🤣 I thought I was great! I was three and a half when this happened.

Similar story. I was at Weeton barracks In Lancashire when I was a kid. My uncle was in the Queen’s Lancs regt. The Queen was attending a ceremonial event there. I wandered off and saw a group of people standing near a footpath so I went over just in time to see the Queen arriving. She walked right up the path past me. Decades later in 2012 I was there to see her travel up the Leeds and Liverpool canal on a narrowboat when she visited Burnley with Prince Philip and Prince Charles.

Regarding King Charles. He has had his issues but I’ve always respected his views on the environment and he is well liked in his Duchy and other lands where he often interacts with locals. I live close to Burnley in Lancashire, a town he has visited many times and is fond of. I saw him as a child when the school lined us up outside a train station to wave at his car. He was visiting with his new wife, Princess Diana.
This is actually expected, most people when they lose the love of their life don't last much longer... My mom passed within 5 years of my dad , she missed him so badly... I'm just sorry I never got a chance to visit England before she passes... The queen is in my family tree... I'm sorry.... The royal family is in my prayers.

Oh, no! I so admire and respect Her Majesty, what a wonderful leader she has been for so long. I’ve never seen her looking so thin and frail as in this recent photo with the new PM. I hope she pulls through the present difficulty and sees a full century in good health, but 96 is quite old. It worries me on a more personal level, too, she’s only three years older than my Dad and I already lost my Mom this June. I’m American and wouldn’t want a monarchy for my country, but it is the choice of the British people, and I just can’t imagine a better monarch than she has been for so long.

I know a few of the wonderful things this great leader has done in her lifetime...but the one that stands out most in my mind is the gracious and kind way she welcomed President Obama and Michelle Obama on their first visit with her. She proved she had more class in her little finger than the majority of our own politicians. God bless the Queen!🙏🏽
