They did so many gorgeous songs, another fav is You take my breath away and Lilly of the valley:) They did write 'perfect songs' meaning from a musicians standpoint there is nothing you can add or subtract from their arrangements to make them and more beautiful:)

I appreciate your sentiment, but for me it's been beautiful since I discovered Queen and embraced them and their music. no other band captivated me like they and their music. Alas, Freddie is gone, John is retired and Brian continues with Roger. I bless and thank them all... one day we'll all be in the same place again and that will be beautiful :D but for now... let us live and enjoy these fine songs. keep smiling.

This song was released 22 years before I was born, and I'm 22 today. It's just magical how we all have shared experiences across time. Falling in love and being betrayed, and then that trauma impacting you throughout life so you treat everything with suspicion because it's the only way you can protect yourself. "I wasn't man enough to let you hurt my pride" I never understood this for the longest time but I understand it now more than ever. Amazing song, impactful lyrics.

"Jealousy" was penned by Mercury and features May playing his Hairfred acoustic guitar. The guitar had been given a replacement hardwood bridge, chiselled flat, with a small piece of fret wire placed between it and the strings, which lay gently above. The strings produce the "buzzing" effect of a sitar.[5] This effect had already been used on "White Queen (As It Began)", from Queen II. :D i love that sound!!

Maximiliano Penna Haha no it's just that Queen has a very artificial quality to their songs; they all have a "showtunes" sort of feel. Sort of a contrived sound I guess. Like they were thinking, "We need to have three ballads, four rock n' roll songs, etc.." instead of just writing a song based on an emotion or a message they're trying to convey. It's hard to explain...like compare a song like "Can't Find my Way Home" and Queen's "Save Me". Or "A Song For You" by Leon Russell to Jealousy. Or "Carry On" by CSNY to "Somebody to Love". There's a distinct difference in the tone of the songs and the way they are performed. Freddy Mercury almost seems detached from the emotion of the song while he's performing, like he's doing impressions of someone feeling that particular emotion. Behind the beautiful harmonies and melodies there's a certain directness and rawness that Queen just doesn't have.

LYRICS: Oh, how wrong can you be? Oh, to fall in love was my very first mistake How was I to know I was far too much in love to see? Oh, jealousy look at me now Jealousy you got me somehow You gave me no warning Took me by surprise Jealousy you led me on You couldn't lose you couldn't fail You had suspicion on my trail How how how all my jealousy I wasn't man enough to let you hurt my pride Now I'm only left with my own jealousy Oh, how strong can you be With matters of the heart? Life is much too short To while away with tears If only you could see just what you do to me Oh, jealousy you tripped me up Jealousy you brought me down You bring me sorrow you cause me pain Jealousy when will you let go? Gotta hold of my possessive mind Turned me into a jealous kind How how how all my jealousy I wasn't man enough to let you hurt my pride Now I'm only left with my own jealousy But now it matters not if I should live or die 'Cause I'm only left with my own jealousy ❤❤
