That is John 'Deacy' Deacon. Bass player extraordinaire. Degree in electronic engineering. Creator of the 'Deacy Amp' which Brian May loves. Still married to the same woman since 1975. Creator of hit songs like "Another One Bites The Dust", "I Want To Break Free" and "You're My Best Friend" & the bass line for "Under Pressure" among many others. Multi-instrumentalist, hardly ever sings. You should check out his songs cause many of them have a soulful beat. Crushed by Freddie's death, he retired from public appearances in 1997. The drummer's name is Roger Taylor. All four of the guys wrote #1 hit songs - an honor unique to Queen. You should take a look into their lives & talent. Thanks for this reaction!

That's our boy Deacy, bassist John Deacon - multi instrumentalists, songwriter, electronics engineer. Creator of the Deacy Amp, used in conjunction with Brian's Red Special to create some pretty special sounds.

  • @karolyn8644
    @karolyn86443 жыл бұрын

Maybe you have already been informed, but Brian and his father made the "Red Special" guitar out of stuff found around the house when Bri was about 16. The family couldn't afford to buy a guitar, so they used wood from an old table & from a fireplace mantle, mother of pearl buttons from his mom's button box for fret markers, and her knitting needles for something else. It turned out to be a marvelous instrument, Bri plays it to this day and there are reproductions made. He uses a British sixpence coin for a pick. They are no longer minted, but Queen has similar ones manufactured with the Queen crest. You can buy them on their website.

Awesome! beautiful song! Their appearance on Top of the pops for Killer Queen was what catapulted them into the public eye. They hated that they had to lip-sync. Thats why they made the music video for Bohemian Rhapsody. They never gave in to the masses! Their genuine originality is why they stand the test of time! There was nothing Freddie couldn't sing! With the line "Be your Valentino" Freddie referred to Rudolf Valentino, a famous actor during the era of silent movies who was known as "the latin lover of the silent screen".

Bassist, John Richard Deacon... John is a brilliant bassist (try “Millionaire Waltz” to hear an amazing interplay between Freddie’s piano and John’s bass)... brilliant songwriter, and the quiet business-brains . He was more reserved than the other members, a bit shy... but there are interviews with him if you look.

💁🏾‍♀️ Well...tbh...Deacy thought he couldn't sing but Freddie felt otherwise hence the "All-Day-Long" bit they shared onstage in "Liar." Deacy did sing back-up during live performances when he was in the mood to do so. Deacy refused to sing on any of the studio recordings but for some reason, we'd see him singing during the official videos to songs like: "Bohemian Rhapsody" & "Somebody to Love" even tho he hadn't sung on them in the studio✌🏾.

The song was showing us (at least for me) that he was gay, and he was afraid to tell. I don’t know why the song is so underrated, it’s so jumpy and catchy. And I also think that Fred wrote “Good Old Fashion Lover Boy” for his Boyfriend back then. Yet again, this is one of my Queen Favorites. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of their Albums and songs.

Also the band members are: Freddie Mercury: Lead Singer (Not Leader of the Band, He once said) Brian May: The Guitarist Roger Taylor: The Drummer and the Backup Vocalist. John Deacon: The Bassist, he usually doesn’t sing because he isn’t comfortable with his singing voice, which I’m fine about.

This is one of my favorite Freddie songs though I have a whole lot of Freddie favorites. This is s fun song and it always brings a big smile to my face, nice and upbeat. That little instrument you mention is Brian on his guitar creating interesting sounds of other instruments with the help of the Deacy Amp built by John Deacon, that outstanding bass player whose name you didn't know. Freddie was a loverboy and a player and 17 is a gross understatement as far as his number of lovers is concerned. There was a time in Freddie's life when he would do just about anything that was breathing, by his own admission. He did settle down later in his life but around the time of "Don't Stop Me Now" the band was very worried about Freddie's wild lifestyle of Alcohol abuse, drugs and a multitude of lovers. AIDS was already a major issue and his friends were very worried about Freddie's devil-may-care attitude about it. He was for the most part living the gay club lifestyle in London and New York at that time.

I take what Brian says with a pinch of salt He admitted to being promiscuous early 80s after four failed relationships I think hed given up and wanted fun unfortunately they weren't aware of Aids Dont stop me now was recorded in 78 Freddie had been introduced to the NY lifestyle I think that's where he met Joe who he dated for a couple of years I think Brian had an issue with the song because of the lyrics super sonic man out of you.. Brian has said he had words with Freddie that some of his songs had gay overtones In 78 when he wrote dont stop me now no one knew of Aids And he wasnt really doing hard partying till early 80s End of 81 the medical profession realised young men were getting sarcoma skin cancer (which Freddie had in 87)but it was a while until they realised what was going on but it wasn't given priority for a long time and clear information and advice wasn't given Freddie friend explained they ignored it at first because they were being told it effected your immune system and was probably caused by taking certain drugs popular in clubs which they didn't do so didn't thinkk they were at risk When more was known he was in a relationship but of course he was probably worried but just shrugged it off if asked about it I think its disgusting that Prenter sold stories saying about people Freddie knew dying of Aids.. Freddie was furious about it

Yes, Freddie has a lot of lovers but he was always searching for a stable enduring love. He actually found two true loves in his life. The first was Mary Austin who he lived with for 7 years and they were engaged but never married. Freddie had to finally acknowledge that he was gay/bisexual so he and Mary ended their engagement but remained the closest of friends until the end. He used to refer to her as his common-law wife and he left the majority of his estate to Mary. His second love was Jim Hutton who he had a monogamous relationship with during the last 7 years of his life. Though Mary was special and no one ever could replace Mary, Jim was the only other lover after Mary he was every committed to.

I have a few suggestions for Queen, mostly towards the end, like ‘I’m Going Slightly Mad’ and ‘These Are the Days of Our Lives’ (The last two music videos Freddie made before his death). Also, it’d be cool to see you react to a video called ‘Freddie Mercury’s Final Days’, all of these videos show just how much work and commitment Freddie put into making music, even when he was dying.

Also : The Love of His Life was Mary Austin. They met when she was 19, he was 24. They lived together for 6 years & were engaged until he admitted he thought he was bisexual . They broke up, but were close friends forever. He referred to him as his common law wife. Later he did have lovers , eventually settling down with Jim Hutton, living together for several years until Freddie died. Jim was with him at the end. He was always looking for true love.

Freddie has been honest about going through a promiscuous stage early 80s But people have taken that to imply that's how he was throughout his life Roger got around quite a bit aswell! This song was for his first boyfriend David In the 70s he was with Mary then David then Joe who couldnt cope with not being able to be open about their relationship, there was concern it would affect the band They did become friends again in the 80s he became his chef and lived with him until Freddie passed he also supported him on tour from 83? Mary also stayed friends with him throughout his life He left his house and majority of money to her Him and David didn't end on good terms Freddie tried to make friends with him again in the 80s David was going through problems and had lost a friend so Freddie supported him but they didn't really stay in touch,David said he did regret that though He then met someone who cheated on Freddie as soon as he went on tour so Freddie paid to fly him over just to dump him but kept his cat! Four relationships that didn't work out for different reasons and he was busy with Queen so gave up on relationships for a while and just went out and had fun He met vince but he wasn't willing to risk loosing what he had to go on tour with Freddie Bill was bad news Winnie he met in munich they dated a couple of years He met jim I think initially in 83 but jim was in a relationship met again in 84 They were together till the end (91)and wore wedding bands and Freddie refered to him in private as his husband

Thanks, Jojo - this was a great song -- have you done ""Millionaire Waltz? that will blow you away -- BTW, these "official" videos - while portraying live performances often use official recordings.. and why not: here is Millionaire: although the studio version is maybe better - this one is live: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i5xrytl6n5uyZps.html

You think he just had male lovers later in life and not many? You mean you'd prefer to believe that because it makes you more comfortable to think he mostly had sex with women for the majority of his life? Well sorry, that's not true. Also, he wrote this for his boyfriend at the time, David Minns.

What you don't understand here is the history of music before rap. Almost all rock, country, and classical pieces have opportunities for the musicians to shine during their solos. Most bands I grew up with did this ALWAYS. Only rap takes music out of the equation -- and that's why I don't like rap. To me it is missing the soul of melody. Most of the older bands always had members who each were talented.

Film is not the reality .... please don’t get me started on how many inaccurate depictions there were in that film! Not to mention the widespread homophobia of the time particularly in the older generation of rock stars !

@@JaneRtn didn't say it was entirely true. I said it was a funny depiction of Freddie Mercury's rumoured loose personality.

At the Live Aid show, Freddie had brought Jim Hutton who he had just started dating and later married so really, that wasn't a time when Freddie was probably out trolling, but he certainly did his share of it, perhaps even more than Roger who fully lived the cute, charming and sexy rock n roll drummer life. Ooh! I think I would have hit on Roger if I'd had the chance, then again, the same holds true for the rest of the band members. Roger's charm, that cute smile of his and the sparkle in his beautiful, blue eyes, always melted me.

💁🏾‍♀️Like what Waggish Feline said, please don't refer ppl who has no knowledge of the true story of Queen or Freddie Mercury. If you want ppl to learn facts 'bout artists...just have them watch actual documentaries instead. That so-called docu-drama was BS! The only reasons that film did as well as it did were: 1) It was billed as a biopic 'bout Freddie Mercury AND Queen 2) The star of movie, Rami Malek has a large fan base/following 3) The other actors along with Rami had chemistry 'n made watching them together somewhat redeemable 4) Queen music itself was an unbilled star That Bo-Crap biopic was confusing to say the least 'cos it was more of a semi-biopic of the band which turned-out as a throwing Freddie under the bus fest. Many old school Queen fans are aghast that Bri 'n Rog had approved of how Freddie was written in it. It stinks of jealousy for them to go along with this farce of a story 'bout their dear brother 'n band member. They had everything to say 'bout Sacha Baron Cohen NOT portraying Freddie 'n having him fired from the project so they had the power to say SOMETHING 'bout how Freddie was written. That said, to get some idea of how that day went (Live Aid), just watch the Live Aid documentary part 'bout how Freddie Mercury messed with some of the guys backstage to 'intimate' & not to 'hit on' them. He'd particularly messed with Bono, Midge Ure, & one of guys from Status Quo✌🏾. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dn6V09pwj5rTZKQ.html .

Another reason for me to hate the film then! I can barely cope the clips I dont know how roger and Brian can claim they cared so much then depict him in that way Maybe they're still salty that a lot of the attention at live Aid was on Freddie!? The only pictures I've seen were Freddie talking to Bowie and Elton John When I saw these comments I looked it up He had a guy in a headlock and he said I did think homosexuals were weak but Freddie was strong He didn't say this in the video but a lot of articles claim he said he had made slurs against Freddie first not that Freddie was trying to hurt him but put him in his place Other accounts seem a bit odd And Freddie was there with Jim I really dont know why Roger and Brian wanted to show him this way And Freddie sister and family are watching this thinking its true or atleast close
