Queen Elizabeth dies: Ex-Army pensioner bursts into tears talking about meeting Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth dies: Ex-Army pensioner bursts into tears talking about meeting Her Majesty | Chelsea Pensioner Archie Ferguson, 84, was brought to tears after arriving at Buckingham Palace to pay his respects to the Queen as her death reminded him of his wife's 10-year battle with Alzheimer's. He told MailOnline Queen Elizabeth always appeared interested and well researched when she came to visit the Royal Chelsea Hospital, his home. 'She's beautiful,' he said through tears. 'I think my favourite memory was coming to the garden party here. I cooked supper for her... It was good.' People from all generations and walks of life descended on the palace to leave floral tributes, light candles and simply be together as they looked for reassurance following the monarch's loss. 'The Queen will be remembered as beautiful' says Chelsea pensioner who met the Queen on many occasions. Archie Ferguson served in the forces for 23 years and says that Her Majesty was 'well researched' and knew what she was talking about.

@ItsMe They're not being narcissistic, they're informing people who clicked on this video thinking he'd burst into tears simply about the queens departure. When in fact that's not the case. They're trying to save the time of people who clicked on this video through the sheer clickbait title, like myself and most probably you too...

Well I for one can relate as someone who lost their grandmother to dementia. In 5 years I watched her lose herself, that by the time she finally passed, it was with reassurance that she can now rest. Slowly by her death she was sadly already gone. My one thing I have a hard time with is if she understood her last moments if she was loved. The pandemic prevented those of us who used to visit her consistently were prevented for a lengthy time. So it’s reassuring as someone who has witnessed a loved one suffering to know that the Queen at least passed peacefully.

I am a Canadian Army veteran, and like all servicemen and women in the armed forces in many Commonwealth countries, I have sworn allegiance to the Queen as Head of State of Canada when I joined. That was the year 1990 and I am now 50 years old. I have taken that oath to heart and despite having been a civilian for all these years now, I still consider that oath my lifetime pledge to certain important values such as my commitment to servicing others and the society, justice and truth, and high standards in everything that I do, just as the Queen has uphold them all her life and she encapsulates all those values. Her passing therefore means a part of me is gone. I don't suppose anyone who hasn't served or have taken a similar oath would understand.
