…I respectfully disagree… Alicent was not overly antagonistic, taking the severity of the situation into consideration. She knew that Otto would not report that to the king unless he had absolute trust in his sources (we see the face he makes when he realizes that he has to tell the king. It it not that of a schemer, but rather that of a man who is knows that it will hurt his friend but believes he has the right to know), and more importantly she knew Rhaenyra and her recklessness. And that if she didn’t talk some sense into her friend the realm would be at severe risk of civil war, for the next century or so, regardless of if the rebels were her sons or anyone else. 😊

The problem was that Rhaenyra was the princess who was unmarried. If rumors got out that she lost her virginity to her uncle out of wedlock it would seriously be bad for her reputation. Even when Alicent found out that Rhaenyra and Criston Cole had sex, she didn’t tell anyone. Like this was genuinely out of concern for Rhaenyra because royal women were treated MUCH differently in these times. Also, Alicent had no choice in her marriage, as most women do. She was a child having children for an old man so its truly a weird thing for you to point out when she had no control over that.

He had a duty as Hand to report information of this level of importance to his king, withholding it could absolutely be seen as treason. She knew the odds were inherently stacked against her cause of her gender in the beginning, but she does NOTHING to prove to the nobles and factions WHY she SHOULD be their future queen. They don’t fear, respect, or are willing to lay down their arms for her. They are mostly apathetically waiting to see what would happen to the realm when Viserys is about to die and what this silly little princess would do. For me, I think that Alicent is worried for Rhaenyra in two parts: 1: Her virginity. If word was to get out that Rhaenyra was no longer chaste, they'd call her wanton and urge Viserys against keeping her installed as heiress presumptive. 2: Rhaenyra's blindness when it comes to Daemon's faults. Daemon cares for his niece yes, but from the very beginning, Daemon's wanted the IT. And by marrying the heir, his son would be King.

If he was only interested in the throne, he would have killed his brother or niece long ago. Plus then he really would have taken her virginity. But he didn't. From the beginning, we could feel that he was attracted to her.And he honored all his words to the princess. Moreover, when it was already clear that his child would not be the heir to the throne, since there are already 3 children before his children, he married her even then. So I doubt he was driven by such intentions.

Because she's the princess and heir to the throne, she sleeping with someone before marriage would damage her reputation. And she didn't ask Rhaenyra's permission because she didn't know, she was just as shocked as everyone when Viserys announced their marriage

After, the snake arranged her both children aegon and Helaena

i never understood why this mattered so much to her

The most awkward thing here is Alicent's reaction. Is she jealous that Daemon is in bed with Rhaenyra? Is she in love with Daemon or perhaps even Rhaenyra herself?

I stand by Alicent doesn’t actually care about “right or wrong”. That anything that might’ve made Rhaenyra happy without her upset her. She was clearly upset with Rhaenyra and took her obsessions and turned it into hatred.

Alicent sounded jealuos, having someone as a hand that dislikes your brother is not easy for the king, Otto makes the impossible to bring Daemon Or Rhaenyra down

Alicent was just jealous of Rhaenyra! Even though she masqueraded as her friend, Alicent was always envious of Rhaenyra’s family, wealth and power! Also Rhaenyra could ride dragons, something Alicent couldn’t do! I hope we see Alicent’s downfall in season 2, she’s such a turd!
