i love the pivotal shears, been using them for a year, it didnt take me any time at all to get used to them, i felt comfortable with them almost right away

When i do go get my haircut, I like it where the stylist talks only to me about my hair. I do not want him or her to have another conversation with anyone else while cutting my hair, it tends to be distracting the stylist and mistakes will be made during the haircut. I do not say too much during the cut, i sit straight in the chair, I do not smile, and i keep my legs uncrossed and feet together. So all of you who think sister is sad, she may be just trying to not move or say anything so as to get a good cut.

LOVE! You remind me of a stylist I used to go to who has since moved out of the area. I really miss her. I think you did an expert job and loved the explanation of the techniques and why you were doing them. I now have a long bob that I am itchin' to get about 1-2 inches trimmed off. My current hairdresser is on maternity leave so I still have a few weeks to wait before I see her. Thanks for the video!

I think you did a wonderful job of illustrating how to do a short hair cut. I am so glad you cut it both wet and dry. So many people just cut it wet, and send the mistakes home with the client. You can not accurately finish cutting someone's hair without seeing how it lays when it is dry.

I had that done 10 years ago, cut my waist length hair to a short bob. Tow days later I felt like I ha aged 20 years. It made me feel so old with short hair.

I was a hairstylist for over 20 years and had to give it up about 9 years ago. This video made me want to go back into the salon. I love the cut on her. Much younger looking and healthier. Looks really good. Loved the texturing to give it bounce. Great cut, style and instructions.

Even though she had made the decision to have her hair cut, it still was an emotional outcome. Been there!

I'm a first year Cosmetology student and I realize I still have a lot to learn, but I think April did a great job! She isn't finished with the hair yet in this video. I think she was just in shock. I've gone from long to very short and there's usually a bit of panic of 'what did I just do?!" but then later I like it because it is so much lighter feeling. I don't equate short hair with looking older, I think shorter hair can make someone look more put together than just blah long hair that is always up in a bun or pony tail. This makes me want to cut mine again...

I can't help but think that the growing out process is going to be brutal. The sister looks stunned.

So when you did your 'round' layers what is it that makes them round I didn't see you pivot your layers or continue to the front. It seemed to me you just did a square at around 90 and didn't connect it. 90 degrees dosent make long layers.

I must not have seen what many of the other viewers did. I never thought the sister was upset or about to cry. And I thought the cut made her look old, just a bit more grown up. Maybe she finally decided to leave the teenage years and join the world of grown ups. I like this cut so much I shared it with my daughter, the hair stylist. I'm going to get a cut tomorrow and I want it done like this. And whoever commented that the stylist was razoring and thinning so much because she's lazy, doesn't understand hairstyling. I'm a retired barber and understand the nuances this gal did and I think she did a great job. Thank you for doing this video.

I cut 11 inches a few years ago. I was totally excited and really thought I was ready, but when I first saw it I thought I was going to cry. I don't think it's ever easy for us ladies to part with that much hair. I'm sure she loves it now :D

First mistake- when cutting off the ponytail, you need to leave a few extra inches and cut little by little and ask if they want to keep going shorter

Models do not look like they are about to cry though. It looks like she regrets it. Having a long hair like that and cutting it so short so quickly without medium lengths hair period can be a shock. She has great hair however and I'm sure she found a style she likes whether it is long or short.

I want to see what your sister's hair looks like a year since you cut it. Please? (Maybe you've already posted another clip?) When I'm tired of long I want someone like you to cut mine short. Great job! Credit to your patient sister who probably listens to you go on about hair/your passion all the time and for bravely modelling for the world during your tutorial. I'm sure she loves the result.

I love this cut! It looks great on your sister... the fun layers and style just "brighten" her up. I have a terrible time finding a hairdresser to cut my hair similar to this. The only difference is I prefer my layers to be a bit more "piecey" and "choppy". I've resorted to cutting my own for the last 5-6 years. Not easy to do when I'm an OT and soo not a hairdresser...and layering especially in the back is extra hard. Thanks for sharing.

I wish you lived near me!! I love your videos because you go into specifics (eg angles of hair to head, hair thickness, etc). Would you please consider showing us how to do a pixi or asymmetrical pixi short haircut? Maybe you could do a video or series where you discuss (1) promblematic issues and how to deal with them (eg. cowlicks at the neck or forehead, hair that sticks out straight in the temporal area in men's hair), (2) how to color black hair so it looks natural or (3) how to cut your own hair (eg. short hairstyles). Thanks!

You have cut your sister’s hair very nicely done. My hair is very dried out as well . It needs a hair cut badly to rid all that dry damaged hair. I’m as well thinking of getting my hair layer cause my hair looks pretty thin and dried out . It’s helped me to be not as afraid to get my hair layered and back into health hair again . 👍🏼you did a great cut . I can’t wait to see the finished touch.

I know this is an old post, but I just saw it. I have a question. That is: Was her hair extra thick to start with, or is this just with a normal head of hair? I like the finished cut. My hair is super long, and would like to get a long Bob cut, but am afraid of stylists cutting it ALL OFF......which has happened several times already. Why do hair stylists HAVE to cut ALL your hair off, when you ask for a LONG Bob cut. They DONT listen, and still do what THEY want.

I like the back, but I am not crazy about the long front piece. Poor girl did not look happy with the end result.

You're very good and this video was fun and educational. I attended cosmetology school in 1970 so I have to keep up on technique even tho I haven't been in the business for well over 30 years I still cut for friends and relatives occasionally. I still know a natural when I see one :)

She's not unhappy. She's thinking and looking at herself with that new haircut, because she's so used to seeing herself with that really long hair that it's sort of a shock but I'm sure she loves the haircut she even told her she loved it while she was cutting it. I think it looks great.!

would have been a great opportunity to do a couple of medium cut tutorials before cutting short.

I totally enjoyed watching you create this new look. I'm hoping I can get a similar look. I am a 64 yr. old white/silver haired women & I just love how you layered this style. My concern is that i have such very fine hair that I don't know if this can even be done. I sure hope so. Does razors cause split ends? Or visible cuts on darker hair? I had my hair cut with one of those and it left my ends pretty damaged, i dont know if it was the razor not being sharp enough or that it just generally causes that. Coz i love the effect of razors but im scared of it lol.

I love this haircut! I wish you could do mine. I went into a salon a few years and requested a similar haircut--I even took photos. The cut didn't come out even close to how I wanted it, and the beautician said that my hair was "too thin" for the cut I wanted. You, however, show that this cut can give body to thin hair. Anyhow, my experience was so bad that I haven't been into a salon since.

I've had my long hair chopped all off many times. Granted, my hair grows fast so I don't feel that it's a big decision. Your sister looks great Loved this cut..
