Jeffery I think it is sweet that you did this for your grandma's memory, sounds like she raise a great grandson.. I am going say this is by far my fav esp of Quaratine cooking with Paula. You cook just like my granny. the dish isn't complete until everybody in the house at the time has had their finger in the bowl 🤣 It hasn't hurt us yet!

And also why I think he said to separate the eggs,and beat the whites stiff,and fold them in,that helps with the denseness of the cake,cause that way the cake batter is lighter.

So tempted to make a “fruitcake” that my grandmother and her sister-in-law,, Josephine, made up when they were 30 yrs old. Granted they were born in 1883! They didn’t like the gellied fruits in a regular fruitcake. My Mama Flynn called them boogers!

My nana used to make a mocha coffee frosting that I loved. Yummy

I just happened to have 3 bananas so I decided to make a half recipe. I baked it in a 9x9" pan & it turned out wonderfully.

Everyone I know loves banana bread, but my mom always made it in a loaf pan, no frosting. This looks so good, and I was curious about the frosting (from the picture). I've made it all kinds of ways, including in two layers with chocolate buttercream, but usually use 2or3 bananas. I'd like to try this on a really cold day. Thanks for sharing the recipe. There's a difference between a banana bread & a banana cake. Bread is heavy (dense) Ik like Paula said this cake is dense, but cakes are still lighter & fluffier than a bread is. Idk if you know there's a difference or not, so I thought I'd luk just in case. But that's probably why ur mom made it in a loaf pan is bcuz it's a bread.

That cake has to be and taste fabulous, because it is in your hands Paula. I have never see you make anything that wasn't good. I LOVE YOU and the BOYS and THEIR FAMILIES SO MUCH. I LOVE WATCHING WHEN YOU and The BOY ARE IN THE KITCHEN COOKING TOGETHER.

I was wondering if you could make a video on raisin pie?? Just think how delicious and comforting a Raisin Pie would taste and smell in these fall days. I can still smell the damp air and the sound of leaves crumbling beneath my feet while walking to Grandma Sue’s house as a child to pick up my own Raisin Pie she had made me. Love those blue glasses Paula, Like your blue eyes. Paula be careful with that Kitchenaid mixer there. I see at 25:16 where you tilted the head back, just below that there is a hole there. There should be a pin in that hole that holds the whole thing together, the head to the base. If the pin is coming out the other side, tap it back in so you can see it on this side. Mine does this all the time and that thing could fall apart on you. That's why it wobbles like that when you run it on higher speeds. I don't want to see you get hurt dear. Take care.

If you want plump, puffed up raisins, you can soap them in honey whiskey, brandy, etc. 😉

Mmmm that cake does look pretty tasty! I dont like coffee much, so might leave that out or use bourbon or rum or mix a bit together and taste it first, i was thinking of adding unsweetened coconut in with the frosting and/or the cake..or crushed pineapple in cake and the juice replace the coffee.. just thoughts running through my head at 4am wishing I had some good treats.. thx for sharing Jeffery and Paula!!

This is exactly how I make banana nut bread except 1 can crushed pineapple will guarantee it to be moist. It is delicious.
