I watched this Story on GMB (Good Morning Britain) then I found this Video. A very moving Story, about how this Man's Son, is doing this with His Dad, to help His Dementia, and also to have some good memories of Him, after He passes. I was in tears *:o(* Whoever has Thumbed down this Vid, must have a Heart of stone!

cutepie330 does msp No. He's still alive atm. His Son is doing this with Him, as it seems to help His memory a bit. Which is obviously a good thing. Sadly though, eventually it will worsen though, and people with Alzheimer's usually do pass over from it. I'm not sure why, but I think it's because the Brain controls everything in your Body, like breathing etc, so as it dies off, then I guess things in the Body start to stop working eventually *:o(* However, it will also leave behind some happy memories of the Dad, for the Family, after He does pass over.

My dearest mother very sadly passed away last year following a 12 year battle with dementia. Even on the worst of days she loved to sing & was word perfect when singing along to her favourites, Jim Reeves & Roy Orbison. Doctors are baffled as to why a patient can recall song lyrics or name an entire football team from the past yet fail to recognise a loved one. Keep singing Ted & very best wishes to you & your family.

My first KZread comment post ever! Perhaps it is because it the only one that has warranted it. Goosebumps, misty-eyes and a very loud singalong that I dearly hope annoyed my neighbors!! I'm 42, my daughter is 19, and this is what we do whenever the occasion calls for it, or doesn't. I hope she reads this post (not likely) because no matter what, the music brings us together and I hope this continues until my twilight years!!! We recently visited my 94 y/o Nana, and all it took was a word or slight phrase and we all broke out in a song from The Sound of Music. It transported us all, she included to another time and place, and was the best medicine imaginable. My cheeks hurt from smiling. :) Thank you so much for sharing.

Used to sing with my mom after she had lost her ability to talk due to Parkinson's. But she could sing! She was a trained vocalist with perfect pitch...could sing notes she'd never sung. She trained me and told me I was singing before I was talking. Anyway, I have a video of her and me singing, "Chicago," just a few months before she died. It was a joy to sing with her, so I understand the joy this young man is having with his father.

This is fantastic, it's hard to see someone you care about stop recognising you. The small glimpses of lucidness make all the good memories come back.

0:52 - 1:04 when Simon just gives way to the pro in his dad Tony who seems to have a flashback and easily switches up to another level where Simon couldn't follow but then still calls his son back in. Respect! Great clip of father & son bond, even in difficult times, still watched 3 years later. Best wishes to all.
