Ya dude , those were the times , eh! I recall, quake didnt have chrosshair on by default , and the mouse movement was disabled, it had to be turned on via Console / config... Dad and I figured it all out!

Not with that dated, janky netcode. I prefer quake live because it works really well on modern systems and has good net-code. Quake one did have the gameplay formula all there. Idk if it was any better if you did lan multiplayer or not.

@@MarstedR Quakes original netcode was very punishing for HPB (high ping bastards). LPB had a tremendous advantage (if you had a low latency connection in the 90s you were a god among men). Playing in LAN felt perfect. Up till 50ms it was very playable.

I played LAN with my dad and his buddies in the warehouse at compuserve in the 90s

Oh this takes me back. The HOURS I sunk into QuakeWorld back in the day.

So glad they came out with this. I miss arena shooters man. I remember playing q3 arena on DC till my eyes bled. Then UT3 on ps3 was the first and maybe only console game at the time that you could download mods to a usb stick and use in game on ps3 and play with mouse and keyboard.

Nice, a Dreamcast Q3 player! Man, those were some really cool times and really gave us a look at whats possible; couldn't you host a dedicated server and have both PC and DC players join with the right patch?

The gamplay and balance of the game is still super solid comparing to the new games on the market

Purest form of deathmatch , no loadouts , weapon camos , attachments, killstreaks , character specific abilities, its all about mastering the map layout and having good hand eye coordination... Played this to death between 96/00 I just love it 😂

Yea but quake 2 was full of damn auto health cheaters, the only legit servers where railz servers.

Quake 2 next please.... or iD make a new Quake using the Tech engine from Doom Eternal would be a dream, the game engine is a gen ahead of the competition... it really is mind-blowing

There was really no need to evolve any further. Every element of what made and makes fps death match so good is perfectly executed right here. Id are legendary.

i remember a local ISP i had ran a quake server. I actually got 120 ping on dialup. it was nuts for modem internet play. lol

Hey @Lucas Black80 thanks for commenting. There are people playing Quake Remastered, and some in the Quake Enhanced community found ways to leverage the hex engine to have work-around dedicated servers. Truthfully, I think Bethesda should have done a lot more to support this game, but they haven't. Check out www.quakeqe.com sometime. With that said, I think it's absolutely worth buying. It's a lot of fun and even has options for coop, is cross-platform, and you really can't go wrong.

geez i miss this kind of shooter even though i was a small kid at their apex, so many fun movement options and fast, snappy gameplay nowadays shooters are so lethargic that the fastest entirely modern multiplayer shooter i know of (that has a playerbase) is like unironically splatoon as in the funny kid friendly nintendo shooter LOL id/bethesda owes us a high quality quake sequel and i'd drop the money on release day if they did

For deathmatch maps, bots are an option. I believe the modded reaperbots from the 90s were a bit better, but the bots that come stock in quake remastered are good. they do need improvement with getting weapons and items though.

@@REIVAXMEELAS there are no mods for coop, there are mods though, and you can’t do split screen or any coop with them unfortunately. But you can with the doom games why can’t we with quake lol

best part is bouncing people around with with rockets.

Looks so old and retro, but way more challenging and fun than everything else in fps🤩🤩🤩

technically, quake always had tcp/ip built in, and had additional multiplayer with 'quakeworld,' which added udp support. Im assuming the source ports of the quake supported quakeworld as well, but didnt check. With that said, the new in-game browser and matchmaking is with the remastered version, correct :-)

its messed up, isnt it? any FPS that came out back then had players, period. shogo, RB6, old/new games on mplayer, heat.net, kali, etc. now? despite more people online than ever, unless a game is the newest fad people dont even bother playing it.

I mean realistically Quake is a pretty difficult hit or miss game. Difficult for the average players to pick up. It's as basic a shooter can be compared to other titles. Even back in the day

The motion blur is pretty good for viewing but idk about playing

i have 32gigs of ram according to game only need 16mb anyways now that thats out of the way when i try to join online servers game closes and tells me i should use the console -heapsize 16000 every time i try i get unknown command any help??

not sure if thats trolling but ill bite :-) I havent heard that quake command since the 90s, I believe that allocates more ram. You might have to run the executable with that command line parameter directly for it to work. ex: quake.exe -heapsize 16000. good luck!

Is there a way to get that slight blur out? And for that matter how far can you make this into og quake dm (graphics & macros) settings? edit i mean gl quake variant for the og as software renderings probably is not in this version.

Thank you sir. Honestly I'm a bit rusty, but I have some leftover moves I guess :-).... Form what I know, yes, the crossplay is xbox and nintendo switch and PC. I mean, it's a simpler style of gameplay, but that's more up my alley. When I play any type of BR, I personally find you need a lot of matches to have a 'fulfilling experience' because it's kind of low on action sometimes with how long it is to find people. Here it's fast and constant so it's satisfying in a couple of matches. I find it fun. There's coop too, if you want to switch it up. Let me know what you do/how it works out!
