Qor watercolor review and demo {daisy tutorial}
I have been asked a lot to review the new QOR "core" watercolor paints by Golden Artist Colors. They use a binder called Aquazol instead of the gum arabic used by other manufacturers. I bought the High Chroma set of 6 colors for around $24 which was a good bargain considering that they are $11 a tube and up if bought separately. This is the first time I have tried them so you can play along with me and we can get our first impressions together!
My findings:
The colors were intense and clear/transparent. They had excellent flow in a wet-into-wet wash. When using multiple colors in a background wash they did not get muddy, it was almost like some pigments repelled each other as in they did not mix as much as flow next to each other. I was able to mix a nice shadow color but as it dried in the palette you could see the colors l=kid of separate out. I really liked these colors and I am considering picking up the other sets while they are still on sale. You can find out more about this line of paint from the Golden website. www.qorcolors.com/
My friend Marty also reviewed these paints, here is what he had to say: • Qor Watercolor Paints

I am a massive fan I got mine in may of 2019 and they are now all the watercolors I ever want to use. I bought a 24 color intro set. I love watching other artists I admire using and it inspires me to try different things. I am glad you like these too and thanks for sharing the tutorial as well as the review
I want to try them now. My granddaughter was looking over my shoulder and said "that ladies hair look like my dolls hair." So there ya go...you're a doll.
I'm absolutely loving all your videos, the upbeat and positive commentary and tips. Yay, diehard fan! The ink one at the end was WOW! Never thought of using that tech. So clever and cool Thank you!
I LOVE the slow real time video style and the making mistakes and you showing how to fix them. GREAT video :) I know it was a few years ago but I'd love to see more like this...geared to very beginners :) !! :)
You are sooooo very talented. And the longer the video the better for me. I love all your watercolor tutorials. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
I am not a water colorist but these videos are relaxing. I love how you are so mellow when you paint! The stamp was AWESOME! It cracks me up when you ask if anyone is still watching. I answer "yes" as if you can hear me.
Gorgeous colors! I think i'd buy this set. I really like the real time tutorials. I always learn so much about water coloring from you when you do real time. Beautiful cards!
I like your idea of using a pill box for storing the paints. Very smart!
I had NO IDEA that youtube videos could be speeded up until you mentioned it. So I did. ROFLMAO!!! I spilled my paints on myself. Thanks for making my day!
Absolutely love this painting and surprised at how many new techniques I've learnt! Amazing as always! xx
WOW! Very impressive and beautiful. I think I will have to try water colors again. Thank you Lindsey.
Love your videos and listening to you talk. Its relaxing to me to watch and listen. Thank you for all the hard work you put in to doing all the videos you do.
I LOOOOOOVE IT! The colors are amazing. I liked the dark brown color and that you put it in the background with all those other colors. Really a happy panting.
Thank you so much for answering my question about cold and hot pressed paper. I understand better now. You're such a great source of knowledge!
Lindsay,I love watching your videos!! You are so down to earth and very easy to listen to..Learning a lot from you :)
These are definitely going on my wish list! I love the flow and colour vibrancy of them. And your stamp is gorgeous!
I am loving the colors you choose! I think I NEED another new tin of watercolors to play with. I learned a lot from this one! You are a hoot BTW! Happy painting!
Lots of us, I'm sure, watch you until the very end. We enjoy seeing the process all the way through. Thank you so much for your diligence. Love it!

Since you just commented 3 days ago, I thought I’d comment to you that many retailers are selling the 6 mini tube Qor sets right now for $20.99. I bought the High Chroma set from my local fine art store Plaza Art yesterday, but I saw that Blick’s & Jerry’s had the same price. Amazon was higher but then it is on Prime so you get free shipping. That’s why I like to do a big “general” Google search to get an overall price snapshot & then shipping always has to be factored in. (Shipping cost is often a dealbreaker for me unless I’m buying several items to get free shipping or make the shipping charge worth it.)
lol, yes I'm still here and watching! I don't know a thing about painting and always love watching you do so. loved the card at the end - great idea!
I enjoyed watching you paint and listening to your thoughts. The colors are vivid and pretty.
Yep, total die hard fan!! You're the best!! Totally love your content!!
Love to see you play& not practicing before great video! Love the longer ones💜😄👍
3 years ago and I’m just watching this. Can’t get any more real than this video. You go Gurl! Cold, belching and all. 💓
Great seeing a new watercolor card tutorial, I've missed them.
Yes, this was helpful! I loved how you broke down the way to paint the flower petals, I’ve had a hard time making them look natural and not outlined or overworked. I was surprised to see you go for the flat brush! Need to practice this more. I’d love to see how to paint a flower that is being blown by the wind.
Lindsay, I've just watched this through for the third time so I must be an uber-super fan. 😁I just want to say that I bought a whole set of Qor paints on the basis of this review and they continue to be my go-to my favorites.
Loved the bright colors. I stayed until the end. Great job
Enjoyed watching you paint, intersting to watch what you did on the practise piece..amazing how nice it turned....thanks for sharing.
Somehow I missed this when it first posted. Really impressed with the colors! Ordered these from Amazon. Good old prime! Can't wait to try them!
Hi Lindsey...I watched this Video and just loved the vibrancy of the colors....so I ordered them a few weeks ago and did some small paintings and just loved how the colors are so vibrant....thanks for inspiring me and I love watching your Videos :)
Awesome tutorial & not too long! I luv watching & listening to you! Really like the stamped image also. Nice bracelet!!!!! Just watched the bracelet tutorial before this one!
I LOVE your videos and stay to the end of them all! I love the stamping at the end!
I did watch it till the end I love watching other techniques. Qor watercolor really intrigues me I love how it moves in water so now on my list. Thank you
I wasn't loving the background at first, but once it dried, what a difference. Just when I thought you would call it quits with the color of the daisies, you added another layer and they were even more beautiful. Truly a die hard fan I stayed all the way to the end and was shouting out for you to use the.99 cent stamp. Beautiful result with the landscape stamp though. Simply lovely. Love the brilliance of these watercolors.
Love the technique. Haven't gotten in free hand watercoloring yet but love to watch you do it
TYFS the whole process Lindsay! It helps me keep the illusion that I am a true artist! LOL heehee, seriously, I learn a lot from watching you. One thing I can't seem to visualize very well is how much the colors seem to fade after they are dried.
I so love your painting...the paints look awesome! I love the end when you stamped the image on the test paper, that turned out to die for gorgeous! I love your detailed long tutorials, always learn something from you! TFS Anita
I just bought Quor and I love it! Love the colors and the flow
I bought the high chroma set and I just love the colours, I plan on buying more because they become my go to paints and just make my art work look beautiful and magical.
I'm a 💥super fan💥‼️ I'm happy with your stamp selection, beautiful!
you gave three great tips thank, you, and I did watch till the end, because I am new at play with cheap water colors and really wanted to see how you paint, nice job on the stamp will be doing that in the future
I'v been using them for a few months and really like them. I just put out a blog post on it, just swatching them out. Am loving how beautifully they move.

Love your videos. This was great seeing the new qor colors. Thanks! Watched til the end, no speeding up😀
Thanks! I've been wanting to try QoR, but was hesitant to go for it. Now I have an idea of what to expect. Great video and love the stamp idea.
Love the daisy demo haven't painted for some time but this is my style thanks love it Will be trying to this week love your videos so much always watching .
Yes....watched your whole video....great! Your very helpful in all your tutorials! ;)
I'm a die hard super fan. That card was amazing. Love the stamp at the end too.
Yep. Another great vid from my favorite Art Goddess. THX : )
of course we watched till the end, it was fab lindsay.
Loved the whole video glad you didn’t speed it up because I learned a lot from watching your techniques. The water colors are pretty and vibrant. That tin makes me want it even more. It’s funny how we all think differently. Very pretty card at the end too.
I have a number of QOR colors and love them all. I have had the 12-color set for years and recently added a few other sets. They are my "go to" set for when I want colors to really flow on a painting.
Dyyyyyyhaaard supah fan! LOl Love these colors!
I really liked that you could see the " little things" like lifting, thank , I'm a big fan !
Love your teaching style!

Benny Chavez enjoy:)
I love watching you paint a simple sketch and turning it into a piece of art. Loved the stamped card as well. Oh and the video was not too long, no were as long as the painting of the Sistine Chapel.
Hard-core fan here, so I'm cool with the longer videos... I'm even cool with the little burp. Like you said, we're all friends here. I love these paints! I saw Marty's review too. I really want these paints but alas, we just moved. Which means funds are tight at the moment. But they are going on my list so that as soon as I have the extra cash and a decent coupon ;-) I'm snatching them up! I think maybe the twelve piece set would be a very nice investment. I love both pieces you did today. Thank you so much for demonstrating the lifting and accessing techniques again. I have a condition that tend to make me blank out and forget the weirdest things sometimes (especially when I'm stressed) and even though I've been painting for years I forgot how to explain to my daughter how to lift the paint and add texture the other day. Watching you helps bring these things back to the forefront of my mind whenever I need them there. So thank you!
I absolutely love these Chroma watercolors, may have to save up for them. Awesome! Thanks for all you do. Alice
I LOVE these paints! I have the high chroma- and I am going to get the 2 other sets this week- they are so vibrant
really enjoyed your vid the daisy's turned out really pretty and love the the stamp card at the end it looks like the river is flowing, cool tfs
I love those paints! I so want them :D The stamp at the end is so awesome! It looks like a rainbow house lol! 🌈
I have been curious about these paints but the price was telling me that I could just stay that way, SO I was excited about this video. I love the vibrancy of the colors and the way they flowed and mixed...WOW I could go on and on. I hope the sets stay on sale for two more weeks. And I also love every minute of your video :-). Also the use as a background for your stamp was pretty cool.
oh i loved the stamp painting im going to do this thank you for such great ideas
The stamped card image looks so pretty! Reminds me of Northern Lights scene
I really enjoyed this demo and painting, and the card base you made at the end was so pretty. These look like really awesome paints! And I am definitely a "Die-Hard" fan! :)
All the way to the end and I love the stamped image at the end!
That was not too long. It was fun and upbeat and personable. I have a lot of paint, but I did like the colors and might look into them for a monthly Art Club that I belong to. Thank you for the demo. And YES the stamp on the color background looked great as a guy I would like that.
Wow, I am so impressed with those colors! Goodness, I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for a good sale on these. Thanks again for sharing your time and talents, Lindsay. I always learn something and I am so inspired by you. Seriously had to have them, ordered the whole series. I'm so excited. I work with seniors with Alzheimers and I think these may be the perfect water colors for them because of their mixing ability. I'm going to play with them before my next class and discuss them with the facility.
yep, still watching. :D I just got the QOR travel set to take with me to Hawaii in a couple months. Right now I am waiting on a shipment of De Vinci watercolors that I am really excited about. :)
I would love to see you do your experimenting and trying things out with new products!
I am loving these colors!!! I'm all about the bright and the flow!!!

Hello, Would you mind posting a swatch of the "Indian Yellow, Cerulean Blue Chromium, Ultramarine Blue, Pyrrole Red Light, Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna" set somewhere? I am specifically interested in the Cerulean Blue & Ultramarine (which I heard is a bit purple-y), and how transparent the yellow is. Could you maybe even mix some greens? I hope it's okay to ask. But I pine for those 3 colors :)
I'm just learning. I bought my daughter some water color paint for christmas. she really has no interest. so I picked them up. they are far from artist quality. but hey just learning they do the trick for now until I get a little better! I watch tons of your videos I love them all!
Lindsay, I LOVE that background. I'm RUSHING to buy those paints!
Yes, I'm a die-hard. I don't give up on you, because you are so talented as well as funny, entertaining ❤❤❤
Loved this review and demo. I have recently purchased the high chroma and earth tones of the QoR Watercolours and love them. As I use up my other paints, I plan to replace with this brand. I did read there are no animal products used at all in QoR brand for those who this matters to.
I enjoyed this video so much. I can't believe I sat here with my face to the screen like it was a major motion picture. Thank you

:rest demo Lindsay. I bought the QOR say and after a few swiped I loaded a new palette I just bought. prolly 1/2 tube ea. the pallete still looks more than 1/2 full I've used it almost daily. I hold the box with gold and deep gold. I am so in love with gold deep. you can charge it with magenta. maaan! endless combos ..so analogous.. love it
yeah i needed this painting video as im not able to do anything these days . thanks .
Beautiful love it love it. Gorgeous colour combinations. I will be trying this with what I have sadly don't have these lovely paints. Yes it would be fun if we could vote as I was shouting to you to do the trees but you couldn't hear me😄 but the stamp you used looked great too.
I must be a die hard super fan to because i watched all the way through and loved every minute of it lol, loved how it turned out and also glad you used the stamp you did it turned out great xx Wendy

Thank you. I’ve had my eye on this set.
I love both the painting and stamped one! Thanks for the review...:-}
You know, Lindsay, sometimes I don't know what I'd do without you! I am making the jump to artist quality watercolors, and came to see what I could find out about QoR, because of the introductory sets. Once again, as so many times in the past, you've posted exactly what I as looking for. Thank you SO much!
Love this video . The daisy's turned out so beautiful . I especially love the way you made a card out of the test paper , with the stamp ... very cool . This is kind of off topic , but my son has been wanting to do some drawing , so I got him some drawing pencils , and a sketch book , and blending stump ... and so on . I asked him if he had done any sketches , and he said no not yet . That he was kind of having trouble getting starting , and using it because he didn't to waste it . It reminded me of one time you spoke about us saving our supplies, and making them "precious" , and so on . So I told him what you said about that , and how it's really just paper . So he started using them . I found that interesting because I have been guilty of doing that too , but I wasn't even really conscious of doing it . So I had just watched one of your videos where you mentioned how we should use our supplies, and enjoy them . So it helped him get started . Thanks for posting these videos . I really love your water color ones :)

***** thanks for sharing and encouraging your son to create!
They’ve recently put out a half-pan mini set of these and they are really nice. And they really move on the paper. Lots of fun. I think all except the cobalt teal is included in this new set with some others. My granddad used to grow gerberas before he passed away. I always called the daisies on steroids, lol.
I'm so pleased to be one of your "hard core" painting fans. :) I loved watching you paint this picture. I use my scrubber brush frequently so I'm glad you showed how it "should" be done. I'm never sure if I need to go all the way to white or not and sometimes I have gone too far and roughed up the surface. I love the colors of the paints you used. I'll have to see if I can find an introductory price on them. TFS
I really like this look. Thank you for sharing
both cards are gorgeous!
Love it. Like the paints too.
Would like to try this and those colours. Enjoyed your video. Marie
I'm still watching! I'm also turning the limbs of a rabbit toy right side out and finishing off. Fiddly tasks that I enjoy much more with your company.
Your card is gorgeous!
I am just seeing this video now! Lol I don't know if you see comments from really old videos, but these paints are beautiful! I need them. I haven't tried Qor before. I also loved your daisy painting. I will try that technique with the petals!

Great job as usual.
I'm a die hard super fan!! Haha these are such great colors. I don't even need anything from blick but I'm so tempted. I love trying new brands of paint. I've used goldens liquid acrylics and had so much fun. I'm so tempted! Keep the paintings coming! They're my super, die hard favorite! :P

Antonea Payan I actually saw the sets of 6 for $20.99 at www.merriartist.com/Golden_QoR_Watercolors_s/1594.htm I have never ordered from them but the prices look really good on paint and pencils so I might have to pick up the other sets of 6. They have aset of 12 that might suit you better but there is at least one color that is in the set of 6 I have so I think I might get the other sets f 6. I played with them more today, after they dried in my pallette and I like them even more. I'll have to do a proper demo now that i am used to them:)

I look forward to your next demo. The set of 12 was definitely what I was eyeing! And also the nature set. I'm a big fan of the tin! When I was purchasing my first artist quality paints, I knew I wanted a metal tin to travel with them. These are also on Amazon. I just checked - and I have gift cards to use!
Oh yeah I'm a die hard painting fan of yours. I have these watercolors and I really like them but not always the first I reach for. I have 3 sets of these paints.
