主權移交25年 - 前港督彭定康勳爵演講 ⭐️
香港監察贊助人、前港督彭定康勳爵在 7月 1日發表演講。他於演講初段引述英國《經濟學人》雜誌的報導，指香港由最好、最自由的亞洲社會，在幾年內變成一個警察社會。他指，李家超實際上是由一群中共代理人、賣國賊挑選出來，而不是基於香港的經濟、社會、教育或衛生服務各方面被選出來。他被挑選出來是因為他一直負責管理香港警隊，並以可怕的手法去管治原來和平及穩定未來的社會，令香港變成一個由警察管治的城市。
彭定康勳爵指留意到習近平再三提出，香港必須由愛國者去管治。他批評，事實上跟據中共的定義，一個愛國者必須熱愛共產黨。他指，最近香港的中共爪牙正在篡改香港的教科書，指香港從來不是英國的殖民地，只是一個被佔領的土地。彭定康勳爵指事實上「佔領」香港的，絕大多數是為了逃離中共打壓的內地人，那些逃避大躍進、大饑荒及文化大革命的難民。
他指中共不但打壓香港的民主派，更讓國安法滲入普通法。他指現時有眾多被捕人士在等待審訊的漫長過程間不准保釋，是不能被接受的。中共亦攻擊香港新聞自由，又特別針對黎智英。這不僅是因為他展現了中國大陸難民可以在香港有一番作為，更是因為黎智英勇敢留在香港表明他不會因政權打壓而退縮，這是中共最為討厭的。
彭定康勳爵指我們現在必須繼續清楚了解香港發生的大小事情，確保不會讓中共任意編造故事或假裝過往如六四天安門大屠殺等的黑歷史沒有發生。他又指香港人在過去數年展現的抗爭精神值得被學習，我們必須繼續勇敢站出來，以捍衛香港的未來。

Lord Patten of Barnes, patron of the Hong Kong Watch and the last Governor of Hong Kong, gave a speech on 1 July. He quoted the report in the British magazine The Economist on 1 July, saying that Hong Kong was being turned from one of the best and freest societies in Asia to a police society in a few years. He said that John Lee was in fact selected by a group of Chinese Communist trustees and quislings, selected not on a manifesto about Hong Kong's economy, social progress, education or health services. He was selected because he had been in charge of the police force and had used terrible ways to govern, which turned Hong Kong into a city governed by the police.
Lord Patten noted that Xi Jinping had said again that Hong Kong had to be run by patriots. He criticised the fact that, according to the Chinese Communist Party's definition, a patriot must love the Chinese Communist Party. He pointed out that recently the Chinese Communist Party's stooges in Hong Kong are recently rewriting school textbooks about the history of Hong Kong, saying that Hong Kong had never been a British colony, it was simply an occupied territory. Lord Patten said that the people who ‘occupied’ Hong Kong are overwhelmingly refugees and the family of refugees from communism. He said Hong Kong consisted of people who were refugees from the Great Leap Forward, the Great Famine and the Cultural Revolution.
He said that the Chinese Communist Party had not only suppressed the democrats in Hong Kong, but had also attacked the rule of law by allowing the national security law to seep into the common law. He said it was not acceptable that so many arrested people are waiting for so long for a trial without bail. The Chinese Communist Party has also attacked Hong Kong's freedom of press, targeting Jimmy Lai and some others in particular. This is not only because Jimmy Lai has shown what refugees from mainland China could do in Hong Kong, but also because he was brave enough to stay in Hong Kong, showing that he was not frightened of the repression of the regime. This is something the Chinese Communist Party hates.
Lord Patten said that we must make sure that we remain aware of what is actually happening in Hong Kong, and to ensure that we do not allow the Chinese Communist Party to spin their own stories or pretend that incidents such as the June 4 massacre in Tiananmen Square did not happen. He also said that the spirit of resilience shown by the people of Hong Kong in the past few years deserves to be learnt, and we must continue to stand up and fight for the future of Hong Kong.
