Sausages are called wurst in Germany. German immigrants brought the word wiener to America, along with the frankfurter itself (of which the wiener wurstchen is one type). Wiener wurstchen means little Viennese sausage. Wiener on its own just means Viennese. There's lots of foods named after Vienna, not just that sausage; Wiener schnitzel, Vienna rolls (not to be confused with wienerbrød, which is what the Danes call Danish pastries).

My mom actually has the same cat-related issue as Cariad. Severely allergic, can't even be in a room with one, so she tells everyone they're evil and no one should own one. Well back in November I got a cat. She admits he's sweet as can be but basically stands by her belief that he's the only good cat there is (and that former roommates' cats that were nice to her were all just pretending).

They are terriers, they were bred to go underground/ scent underground or dig up their prey for hunting or pest eradication, (terrier is derived from terra, Latin for earth), some may have been used as spit dogs but there isn't any solid evidence to support this although it's commonly announced at dog shows.

On the last part of the video where they talked about why it is we like to look at animal videos; I think it's because it does give us a good feeling. When people look at other people we are judging them in some way. Tall, short, dark skin, light skin, long hair, short hair, wearing a suit vs wearing jeans, a dress vs pants etc. I think people are just judgemental that way because we are always comparing other people with ourselves. But with animals it's different. They do not judge people at all. Therefore we are less likely to judge them. They love unconditionally. As so we are drawn to them more.

Dogs will love anybody. Even people who abuse them. Cats, on the other hand, don't need you. They don't need anyone, so when a cat shows someone affection, that is a special kind of person to be able to earn the affection of a cat. Not everyone is special enough to earn the affection of felines, and they know it. That's why people don't like cats. They don't like things that don't fawn all over them like a dog will. You have to earn the affection of that cat.

@Cinnamon Killjoy Clearly, you've got anecdotal experience, and haven't ever had cats in your home. Cats do not "attach" to humans the way that dogs do. Cats do it from choice, and are making the statement that you are worthy enough to be in their clowder. Dogs are pack animals by genetics. Cats have an extremely detailed and intricate method of communication. Subtle, by human standards, it can range from how they blink when they look at you, to whether or not they have their paws under them or in front of them when lying down near you. The first means "I trust you, so I don't have to keep my eyes fixed on you". The second means, "I understand you don't view me as lunch, so I will be comfortable, instead of ready to run away." Cats don't require any "maintenance" in terms we think of as maintenance. All you have to do is show them that you are a big, dumb, hairless, tailless cat with no intention of challenging them for leadership of the group, and you're in. That also seems to be beyond the average person. I have six currently. They all have different personalities, communicate in different ways, and show affection differently. I know which of the six is needing attention, and which of them don't. All of them chose to live here, and all of them are affectionate in their own way. It takes a bit of intelligence to understand a cat. As you put it, that's a significant hurdle for the common person.

The difference between cats and dogs. A cat doesn't care if you get upset when it knocks a expensive item off a shelf/table what ever, and it's more likely to take a swipe at you for yelling at it.

Can Neesh make a joke without any politcal commentary. I have never seen it. Watch the others, they all just laugh and take the piss. He has to get the shit political joke in. Something I observed recently since he bombed out up north because that was all the humour he had. Why I love Alan, he has variety and spontenaety, dont know what the joke will be about.

Was Alan really meant to wear the mask too? I understand that for some control everyone was to look like Alan, but, to a dog, doesn't he look enough like himself already? I mean, if he was meant to wear a control mask all along, why make it his face?

WRONG!! Come on, QI. Ask an experienced dog owner. Dogs don’t mate butt to butt 1:25. The male mounts and mates with the reluctant female in a doggie style position (surprise😊). Then, while the male is still knotted (look it up), the female tries to walk away, but can’t because the two are still mechanically connected. The female may try to walk to the side and then continues in the only direction she can… toward the back, and under the male’s leg, ending with the two dogs standing butt to butt. The do NOT try to mate that way. Nature keeps them knotted to ensure his “donation” is successful. PS, I currently have six dogs - 3 males, 3 females - and have seen this little dance a good number of times… unfortunately. 😊
