The hull of Queen Elizabeth 2 was painted grey only for a short time after the Falklands war in 1982, so the film must be almost 40 years old.

Yes it was the 1983 World cruise, I was on board and had many chats with Alan, I am shown instructing one of the chinese managers to replace a pipe in the Boiler room. In 1984 I became Chief Engineer.

Head Chef John Bainbridge. Used to go out with his daughter Clair.
