Let me translate: Zach should have sat behind a veteran year one, The OC was in over his head, Zach got pummeled behind the O-Line and lost his confidence which lead to extremely bad choices, terrible mechanics and panicking in the pocket. It was a combination of everything.

Maybe he should have, but Wilson was pick #2. That is a pick for a 1st year starter not a developmental project. Now it's true, you can't always tell if a given college QB is NFL ready, I get that - but being NFL ready is why the Jets drafted him. The NFL is a tough business.

But the end of the Lions game he was moving the ball under a lot of pressure and with better clock management we could have won that game.

This would be a great opportunity. Zach has all the damn talent, and he can sit and learn behind his favorite player.
We needed to get him a strong offensive line for him to even have a chance. After seeing Geno turn it around so long after his jets career makes me think Zach can be better
Man this felt like a PR run
worst thing about the whole situation is the jets realized at some point they were in win-now mode while a young floundering quarterback was in project status. the jets organization should have realized this sooner and gone and made big moves to grab a veteran quarterback instead of just now finally going after aaron rodgers. and zach - even if he has all the physical components necessary to be a great quarterback - might not be able to bounce back mentally.
I totally agree that it's all up to Zach to re-energize his career. I have never written him off, but he has a lot to prove to us, that he is not done as a Jet. I will root for him to make it happen.

I think Zach Wilson is one of the most physically gifted QBs from an arm talent standpoint. He’s right there with Stafford and Mahomes (pure arm talent-wise). He’s super young tho (only 23) and literally started @ 21 yo. He still has a ton of potential and most of his issues are maturity based, not talent based. Only he can fix it. I enjoy hearing this guy talk football and QBs.
The kid has the physical talent. And I’m rooting for him. But it doesn’t take a “guru” to see that the game was still fast for him and he has maturity issues. I’m thinking Zach needs a mentor for his character. That being said, I’m sure the coach is tired of all the negative and harsh people. And I’m sure Zach is as well. But that’s where the maturity part comes into play. Being bigger than what is pushing you down is the start. Good luck to Zach. I’m hoping he figures it out. This is a tough environment. His talent is up there though. But So was Jeff George and Jay Cutler (physical tools). I think this kid doesn’t have those types of jerk-like qualities? I’m not a Jets fan so I don’t know about his day-to-day struggles or attitudes but he’s got that same generational arm talent traits and that’ll keep him in the league for him long enough to get another chance. He’s still very young but I think he may be closer to this guys than Young or Brees. Hopefully he proves everyone wrong. He’ll have an opportunity to do so there or somewhere.
Spoken like a man who knows what he is talking about. This is the perfect opportunity for him to improve.
Impressive perspective!
I still believe in Zach with the Jets
Perhaps Saleh should have hired an offensive staff with experience developing QBs instead of filling up that unit with personal friends. HC + OC + QB Coach have all combined to develop zero franchise QBs. In Zach's rookie year, the Slot WR led the team in career pass attempts before week 1. Passing game coordinator was the ONLY guy with any experience. Saleh never bothered to replace his position entering Zach's second year.

Why doesn't anyone tell underlying truth to Zach's 'errant throws' and 'bad decisions'? All of these QB's are super-talented, obviously, but if you can't see the field, read defenses, and do it with poise and composure, you will always stink in the NFL. 'We gotta clean that up'.... like, HOW? I just described Zach, why can't these guys?
@jessejordache1869

Go watch J.T. Sullivan's all-22 of the first game of the second season. Take another look, particularly at how fast he goes through progressions or throws players open. Because saying he can't see the field or read defenses is just wrong.
This dude is full of it. The problem with Zach is very simple, but incredibly tough to fix. His issue is that for lack of a better phrase, he has stage fright, performance anxiety. He does have a ton of natural talent and I'm sure when he's in practice and low leverage situations he's good, even perhaps great. However, the issue is that when he's in high pressure moments, aka the NFL, he is unable to control the noise in his head. He panics, he looks at the rush far too much and then everything falls apart. What he needs is not a football coach, or a QB coach, but a sports psychologist. He needs to learn how to push back those natural instincts to panic. Simply put, he needs to learn to slow the game down so he can execute. Far easier said than done. I come from a classical music background and watching Zach play, it's painfully obvious to me that this is his issue. I've seen it time and time and again in performers who just were not naturals so they always had to fight that stage fright. It can be overcome with training and practice. The true greats are naturals and don't have this issue. They can put all that noise to the back of their mind and ignore it. Zach will never be that, but if he can learn the skill, he might have a chance.

That happened to all three quarterbacks. Watch Mike White against Seattle, where the line actually held up better than any game after week 6 - After getting pounded by Minnesota & Buffalo, he got the yips. He was backing away from a line that had him totally protected, and throwing interceptions because he would backpedal until he could no longer reach his target. Zach Wilson at least had to have someone after him before he got spooked. Also, teams that do this right don't throw rookies out with no coaching and a horrible line and expect the game to slow down in their first year (I know Zach Wilson has played 22 games, which is a season and five games, but his loss against the Patriots -- his first loss of the season -- was the beginning of him being booed constantly, and that was his 18th game.)

True. I always felt this. This is one area where don't know if it's coachable except through repetition and experience.
