Interesting to see the Darwin International airport facilities before boarding the A330 . Then while taxiing we had a brief scintillating look at two brand new F35 A 2's parked nearby... part of the Northern Australia Defence Force.. Then the spooling up of the A330 engines and a smooth ascent. Four hours later the plane descends into Sydney after a great flight. Thanks Paul again for informative commentary and good video footage all encapsulating an enjoyable flight. Well done.

Before FJ purchased its two A350s, it’s early morning SYD-NAN flight was on a 737 while the earliest return flight from Nadi was on an A330. The A330 always seemed more spacious and as you mentioned, the seating layout is perfect for childless Av-Geek couples. But I’ll take a brand new A350 over both of those options 😉

I flew a QF 332 only once. From HNL-SYD. I loved it. It was in economy but for a 10 hr flight it was fine. This was pre covid. And honestly coming from the "U.S." it was so much easier doing that daytime flight from HNL than a horrid redeye from Los Angeles or Dallas. I hope that HNL-SYD flight returns at some point.

When I do PER-MEL I always check the aircraft type, and even if it is $20 more each way, I will book the A330 flight over the 737 everytime. The USA have a love affair with their narrow body MD80/90 or 737's but tend to do a lot of hub and spoke and shorter flight travel. Their philosophy is more flights more often, so it is smaller aircraft. Australia is a big country and continent, and the transcontinental flight needs a big aircraft. Give me the A330 every day.

Great trip report Paul, give me the A330 (preferably in business class) over a 737 especially for the longer domestic routes and with a 2-4-2 configuration, it gives more seating options depending on your circumstances. Fab review Paul! Agree, I’d fly the A330 over the 737 any day! Flew both Qantas jets and when I flew it Melbourne to Perth, it was so comfortable, especially with a great IFE and the flight just flew by! Food was dreadful though. 737s are tight and it was pretty uncomfortable. Never been a big fan of the 737, but they are a workhorse and do have a very long shelf life serving airlines for yonks. Look forward to the next video!

Wherever possible I'd fly in an A330 rather than a B737. Particularly on long flights such as Syd-Perth, I select my flight times depending on the type of plane and choose an A330. The A330 has a big more shoulder and leg room and I reckon it is much quieter than the B737. I have mainly been in economy but have been fortunate to get an upgrade a couple of times, which is very nice. I've also flown in the A330 to China, Japan, NZ, Bangkok and Hong Kong and found them great on long haul too.

Absolutely fabulous Paul, to see one of the holy trio of Australian aviation ( Steward, Bunnick and greener grass.com ?! ) is actually flying around Australia. I have to agree that this is a much better option for the longer domestic routes. My wife and I flew one to NZ for a short holiday to try the new business class seats before committing to the Melb. to LHR and return on the B 787.....loved both sectors. Hope Qantas will be able to forget the B 737 and fully commit to Airbus metal for all longer domestic sectors, especially the Melb. to Cairns sector, dragging all us frozen Vics to warmer climes. Looking forward to more great flying experiences with you whilst corona virus paranoia stops all of us from some real long distance flights.PS have you been in contact with Dennis to see how things are in Adelaide?

It would be helpful if you would always indicate the seat width. The legroom is one thing, but if the seats are narrow, the flight, especially a 4-hour one, could be quite unpleasant. Thanks.

Agree. On Dreamliners which were designed 2+4+2 airlines (incl. Qantas) stuffed in 3+3+3. Only for small people otherwise intolerable. Also angle of recline is of interest.

I definitely think the A330 has more comfort on longer domestic flights. I prefer it on a longer route but I still think the 737 is good if you've got a seatback screen. Great flight review

Reminds me of when I sat in the middle row, at the back, of the 747 flying back to Johannesburg from Sydney. It was highly uncomfortable! As much as the A330 is a novelty on short distance flights, I prefer narrow body aircraft. Things on the ground seem to be faster and more efficient.

Hi, Thanks for the video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love both the narrow body and widebody jets, though I will agree that I prefer the comfort of the bigger widebody jets. A330 are nice aircraft's in my opinion. I find it strange that there are no plug outlets on this QF aircraft. I think if the aircraft has wifi QF should have thought about adding power outlets. The engines I think the Trent engines are far less noisy than the GE. Our own national airline used to have A330-200 with Trent engine and I compared it with another A330 belonging to Qatar Airways that sported the GE one's.

Mum and I got stuck in the middle two seats from Melbourne to Sydney and it was intolerable. A go around in Sydney added to the misery. Melbourne to Darwin for us is Business class on the 737. Much nicer. Although not Melbourne to Perth at $3500 a seat. On the A330 pod.
