Q-Up Installed on a Thorens TD-160 Turntable

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I installed a Q-Up on my turntable and had a minor issue.
the Q-Up liked to slide back and forth on its' base. The problem was solved with a bit of Cyanoacrylate Cement

I favor plain white school glue to secure the final adjustment. it is sufficiently strong for the job, dries clear, and the bond can be temporary, easily broken if you get another turn table or need to change settings for any reason, since it does not dissolve the plastic to bond the surfaces.. It dries into a surface film with a tension that can easily be broken with a slight twist of the plastic, of peeled off with a finger nail so you would never know it was there. It is also water soluble if you want to remove it the hard way.

Thank you, I didn't realise there was a smoothness slider and was wondering why my q up was acting like a spring compared to the official video

That's why it's always smart to raise the Tonearms cue lever before moving the arm. Stuff happens.

Thank you. There was so much good music from that era. These days I'm rediscovering music from that period including styles I didn't care for back then

Take the weight off the back the fine adjuster, that weight is set way to back get it as close to the hub of the tonearm as much as possible. Get some thick o-rings that can slide over tightly you need to really take the nut off the front first to achieve this but the thickest tightest o-rings you can get Super Glue them together sliding right back against the body of of the tonearm hub a a single o-ring as well used against the nut on the headshell

No instructions on the box? It says clearly “visit our website for instructions” on the box.

Yes, it does state "visit our website for instructions". I mentioned KZread videos, which is what they have on their website. It would still be nice including a sheet in the box with at least a description of the slide controls.

No I'm not Dave, but he's about 40 minutes from me in Essex, NH. I believe he is limiting himself to TD-124s these days
