Just about every two years, those of us in the know are gifted a new Grant-Lee Phillips album. So "Lightning, Show Us Your Stuff" (Yep Roc) is definitely a welcome guest on the shit show that is 2020. Initially wowing music critics and fans alike with former band Grant Lee Buffalo (the trio's 1993 debut, "Fuzzy," is a masterpiece), Phillips has established himself as one of our great underappreciated songwriters, a multi-faceted musician and visual artist who never fails to surprise and impress. (Yes, he's also the town troubadour from "Gilmore Girls.") And one thing is for sure: Grant-Lee Phillips ain't done yet.
