Patrick's guitar is just stunning!!!! Just fantastic.
I could be wrong, but "The Tree" is the only example of quilted mahogany. And it is stunning!

My guitar work as been a side hustle for many years. I just retired from the "real" job and had a bunch of stuff come into the shop. Hope it keeps up.
thank you Eric
Regarding radiusing…. I would say the two types you described are cylindrical radius and spherical radius. Well, perhaps three types as a “compound radius” fretboard is a conical radius.
I bend solid ebony bindings (2 x 5 mm) with a bending iron, no problems.
Suggestion: try a guitar with a Soft Maple back, rims and neck with a White Pine or Douglas Fir top.

I have bent solid basswood linings for violins. I went with 3mm and bent by hand when using basswood for guitars. 5mm may be a bit dificult. Basswood bends easily.
Casey at Casey’s Guitars Here, I only do solid linings, pipe bent, 2 laminates on each strip, appx. 5mm each strip.

Cherry is my favorite lining wood for solid linings. Bends like butter and does break very easy.
Not to mention that apparently George Lucas's office is said to be completely lined with wood paneling from "the tree" as well as a desk or conference table or something. Maybe there is more quilted mahogany out there from a different "tree".
Eric, do you leave the transverse bar and fretboard graft UN-radiused? And then glue these in place on a flat surface and not in a radius dish? This would then flatten out the upper bout as well?

The stock from the tree is old stock. There is no new stock. People have rescued some of this wood from furniture etc.
The tree was over 100 ft high and 10 ft in diameter
