Honestly I’m happy that you have been so honest about your anxiety journey bc seeing someone else my age giving their honest opinion about dealing with anxiety and panic attacks gives me comfort that maybe taking medication is not a bad thing, as someone who has dealt with anxiety and panic attacks her whole life this brings me some sort of comfort

As an anxiety girly I can tell you when I have panic attacks I find using something that’s cold really helps. There’s been some studies on it but drinking cold water slowly or putting your hands in a bowl of ice can reset your nervous system. Also essential oils have been helpful on top of my medication. I also would look into calmigo! Anxiety sucks but there is so much we can do now to help combat it! Wishing you the best!

mya seriously thank you for being so open about your sudden anxiety. i randomly got super bad anxiety 3 years ago and i’ve been trying everything possible to avoid medication to make myself better, but sadly nothing is working. lately i’ve been really considering giving it a shot, and hearing you talk about how you were hesitant but found comfort through your psychiatrist’s explanation, has inspired me to really look into it and give it a shot. so thank you soooo much

mya, i was on lexapro for almost 3 years and with therapy it really helped me end my panic attacks and most of my depression thoughts and i’m grateful for it. I would just pay more attention to your feelings, bc at the end I couldn’t feel anything and I hated that.

I’m 30 and boy do I wish I would have done more to help my panic disorder when I was your age. It’s amazing that you’re being proactive and doing what you can to combat it now. I just started taking Prozac and so far so good! I love that you’ve used your platform to discuss something so important and anxiety whilst it feels so not normal, is so common that talking about it should be normalized.

Mya, I HEAR you gf. I wanted to try everything but medication for my anxiety - but, unfortunately nothing helped for me personally. I also was put on Lexapro, I began it in July and I notice a difference 100%. Just be sure to stay consistent and it will get better boo😘❤️

I lost my personality when I was on lexapro, I was on it for 3 years bc I loved not having anxiety but I missed being me, so I switched to Zoloft and I got my personality back and have manageable anxiety

be careful with those meds! i actually picked up my prescription of lexapro and decided not to take them. it is super hard to get off the meds and i have known a few family members who had widthdrawals from lexapro when it was time to get off. i will agree, my first session of therapy literally made me cry more because i felt that i was being interrogated, so i didn’t end up going back.

I have anxiety for over a year and been taking medicine for that long. I know how you feel with anxiety. I have had 3-4 panic attacks two with medicine. It's scary. I got to the point I'm mature into my faith and gave a testimony at a big even in my town for something called FCA does.

You don’t need meds. You can’t take every “therapists” recommendations to heart. Having a relationship with God will give you true comfort. I have severe anxiety and when I pray and talk to God there’s a wave of peace only he can offer.❤️
