Totally agree with you regarding curriculum...."no kid left behind" is in reality leaving those un-equipped to handle what they need to in life and just passing without be ready, I find is a dis-service to the person!!

Love how genuine you are. As I wish for you that your channel does really well and you grow at the same time I hope it doesn't change you. Time and time again I find a channel I enjoy and they start to do really well and as that happens thier content changes and becomes less Relatable. They're still nice people but it feels as if it's become much more materialistic. Anyway, I throughly enjoy your videos and love the way you choose to live your life!

You do such a nice job explaining things. I’m 74 years old, I live in Erie, PA. FOR THE PAST 38 years we have traveled to Walnut Creek, Sugar. Creek area for our getaways. So peaceful there. I have learned a lot over all those years about the Amish and Mennonite communities. Your channel along with Lynnette Yoders and Megan Fox’s KZread channels have really taught me so much more. I love your simple ways, they remind me a lot of life as I was growing up in the 50’s in a small town. I know it’s not always perfect but I love the values that you have and how you pass those values to your children while still enjoying life. You have let me see behind those doors that I have wondered about for 38 years of visiting the back roads of Ohio. Thank you for that. I talk about your little son Zander all the time, he’s such a joy. I’m so anxious to meet his little sister soon. God Bless you and your family and keep posting!

I’m grateful for your honesty around putting boundaries in your life regarding social media. I don’t enjoy maintaining multiple accounts either & it really is looked down upon sometimes, unfortunately. Your perspective was refreshing. Also, The best advice our premarital counselor gave my husband and I was like you said, to never use the words always or never in disagreements; because it doesn’t give the other person a chance to improve. Something we try to be mindful of & has definitely helped our marriage.

Yes I think you are right on that keeping up with social media is far less important than being present with the face to face relationships right around us. We do not have unlimited time together and I doubt any of us will wish we'd spent more time on our phones/devices! Talking to myself 🙂

Glad that you are doing so well with your health. I was watching Fermenting Homestead & she has had a lot of "gut" problems that sounds a lot like yours. She was recommending a book called "Super Gut" by a William Davis, MD which I plan on getting.... She said that Dr Davis said people with Fibro actually have gut problems... so I want to check that out. Give Zander a big hug, he's going to be a great big brother in the future.

Love the Q&A’s. There was some great questions. I agree on many of your answers. Your very much of a honest n smart young lady. You are true to who you are n that’s why I love your channel n your family. I hope I don’t offend you but you don’t really need to do Instagram, do you? You have enough on your plate. Being a wife a mother, taking care of a home n all the duties that come with it. Soon you’ll be bringing home your sweet baby girl. You have your hands full doing what you love n then doing your Utube channel. I’ve heard it’s a lot of work to have one. It’s not like everyone thinks. You just don’t throw a video up n it’s done. So my feelings is go with your heart. We love you just as you are, I do. Can’t believe it won’t be long that you’ll be having your precious little girl in your arms. Time certainly does fly by. Your looking so beautiful n fresh. Prayers for you a speedy delivery, a healthy little one n you doing very well. I guess I have a problem too of rambling on. So sorry. Oh, before I go. I hope we’ll get to see the nursery you’ve finally finished. My prayers are with you. God bless you n family. ♥️♥️😊👍🙏

COMPLETELY agree with the IG stories thing and social media in general! You took the words right out of my mouth! One of my biggest pet peeves is people over-sharing online in the sense of always “needing” to take pictures/videos to post. Being present and “in the moment” is something that’s not very common nowadays unfortunately. Nothing wrong with documenting moments of course. I like to take pictures of differ memories, but, 99% I don’t actually post any of it. I just have the memories for myself and my family. That’s the difference.

Congrats on reaching 50,000! Pretty scary what we read is going on in schools right now. Hope to God it is not really happening, but we can see from the news that history is definitely not taught the same and neither is math! Laugh at some of the parents comments about the new math. Passing kids along from grade to grade when they can't do the work is epidemic. Videos about the general knowledge of the younger generations seem to indicate kids definitely don't know as much as their parents did. Private school definitely seems like a good route. Wasn't up for the deep questions today so won't comment on those, but with God first, everything is well, even when you lose a dozen eggs or so! lol. God bless.

I live in the Baltimore, MD area and taught for 30 years in public and parochial schools. I attended public schools in the 50's and 60's. My daughter went to Catholic school. I have friends who have homeschooled their children. I am glad that you are evaluating all of the possibilities for Xander. Your private school has, I sure, the values that you want to instill in your children. Hope these next few weeks fly by and we can share in your joy very soon. God Bless.

Congratulations! Long overdue. As far as school I think it depends on the district for the most part. I do agree that I hear more and more the standards are falling. I went to private school and I believe you get a much education in private school. My daughter is considering home schooling her children as the private religious school in our area has closed unfortunately and she disagrees with some of the things being taught to children, even very young children.

My children that are currently in public schools, plan to send their children to Private Christian schools. They feel that, they are being forced to sign up for the current culture, and their values jeopardize for the sake of MmMmM. This is how it is now imagen how bad it will get. I tell them that, Joshua in the BIBLE had to deal with a culture without his family support. They say we have had to deal with this till 3 years ago. The little one at the same time. We have had a little time to protect our hearts. The little ones have not had that Grace of time. That coming from children who are only in 6th and 10th grades.

My son in laws b’day is 6th May and he’s nice people! I think that marriage can be tough (40yrs in and still not that much wiser!), and people change over the years and it’s a question of maybe changing with your partner. Mine can still irritate me beyond imagining, but can also still surprise me. Perhaps that’s a balance that works for us. My grandmother used to say ‘don’t let the sun go down on an argument’. 🙄

It has changed immensely since I was in school (I’m in my 60’s😩) We got a solid foundation of ‘readin, ‘writin and ‘rithmetic and were taught things at a younger age than today! Once the state and federal governments got involved in what and how things were to be taught, it all went downhill😢 My husband and I never have arguments only moments of “intense fellowship”😉😂 Great Q&A! I love your channel and enjoy seeing a peak into your life. Hard to believe you’re 35 weeks already! I used to think the sandwich method was so good and then I heard someone explain it differently that made me really think. They said if I came to you and said things like… you sing so beautifully, and your shirt really is your color, and then add but your hair is such a mess that I’d like to help you with it. What would I remember? I would totally forget the nice things cause negative things always stick out in our minds, that’s just how our brains work. Instead it was suggested to give a compliment and let them know you appreciate them, then later or even the next day bring the criticism of how they could improve. They will still be remembering the compliment and it will be fresh in their mind so that when the criticism comes it will be taken better. This person that was talking said they didn’t believe in the sandwich method. I’ve pondered that suggestion, and still am pondering it.

You are such a Great Daughter. I am going through health issues that take my brain and my mom started with her just about 3 to 5 years before me. I feel that her children are all adults and she has done so very much for them. So they need to step up and help her. I have for the most part been on my own with my own family. I need to take care of myself because I still have young ones. My Mom always made it clear she wouldn't be there for me, so I don't feel the obligation. I am not a good daughter but, my own children claim that I am a good mom. That's they won't follow my example of a daughter because, I didn't follow my mom example of a mother to me. So I guess I got lucky with my children because they claim that they won't leave me.

Here in North Tx, we have at least 9 superintendents resigning due to challenges of the past two years. That speaks volumes for public schools now. This is unheard of in my 64 years and I used to work in the school system. So if financially able, I would recommend private schools these days.

I agree with you on the education! We pulled our kids out of a private Mennonite school, (for non-Mennonites: please do not confuse Christian with Mennonite) and now I homeschool our 3 kids, ages 14, 8 and 5. They are doing very, very well. We do school work for about 4 hours per day, and the rest of the day is free for anything that we want. Library trips, enjoying the outdoors, gardening (they each have their own), helping grandparents with farm chores, going to museums, etc...living life. We are using the ACE Curriculum, and my husband and I enforce an 80% passing mark. They have to have 80% to pass a quiz, test and the grade level. Our kids all have a GPA of 90% or higher for this year. Our 5 year old is almost finished first grade, and is a very fluent reader. She can read better than our 9 year old neighbor. Our 14 year old is in 8th grade, and his math is at a 12th grade public school level. Our 8 year old has just amazing reading comprehension skills, he came in at a grade 9 level. I find that most homeschooled kids that I know are years ahead of their peers that are enrolled in public school. We did public school for our first year, followed by a few years of homeschool, then a private Mennonite school for 5 years, and now homeschooling, and I can see us finishing grade 12 at home with all of them. That being said, though, I would still rather send them to a public school than a private Mennonite school. May I never make that mistake again! Private School DOES NOT mean it's a Christian school. Using a Christian curriculum does not mean its a Christian school. Adding Bible workbooks (like CLE) to the course load does not mean it's a Christian school... We do have many public school friends/family, and I'm not knocking the public school system, but you are 100% correct: the standards of the public school system are absolutely far too low. It's really sad, actually, because at the end of the day, its the kids' loss.

I am in education and I agree with what you're saying and I would like to explain why public education has been such a failure. The No Child Left Behind is allowing children to progress to the next grade level even though they are not ready because the government only pays for one year per student and so to keep the student behind would cost the school too much money. I don't know what it is today but when I was working in another school in another state that school got $45 a day per student who was in class so if a student was absent they did not receive that Federal money. For each student that gets held back they do not receive the federal money because they are retaking the same class therefore the school does not qualify to collect money for that student so it is in their best interest financially to push the student along. The second major problem is society. Kids are now being raised where there's a lot of technology so they don't do homework and they're on their phones all day and after school and both parents are working or there's drug problems in the home so kids are not getting the home support that they used to when I was growing up. The teachers can do the best I can in the classroom but if a child is not turning in homework or doing their part at home with supportive parents a child does fall behind. When children missed a lot of school because of problems in the home this is another reason why the child fall so far behind. Some schools have hired extra help to work with these children and this has helped with a great deal of them to be able to succeed but we're still dealing with the problems in the home. If the child is not coming because his parents are in jail or on drugs we cannot help the student because he is not showing up to class. The kids who are on cast or above task do you have supportive families and do their homework and are respectful in the classroom. Now, on the other side of my concern with Mennonite or Amish teaching children from the home is that when they go out into the real world they are unable to find employment because they did not learn what was needed to get a job. If anyone has watched the show Breaking Amish you can see how embarrassed these kids are when they cannot answer basic questions like who the president of the United States was or even how to add or subtract math or drive a car. There needs to be an even balance between education whether it be taught in the home or in the school. I agree with teaching the children skills in the home but unfortunately in a job market that does not matter. Realistically if a child stays in the protected Mennonite or Amish community they will do fine but if they choose to leave they really struggle in the ability to find employment because of the lack of proper training that would get them a job. An example of this would be a Mennonite or Amish teacher would not be able to be a teacher outside of the community because they have not had the proper education that would be required. I see both sides of her concerns I would suggest if you found a private school where their children are getting a good well-rounded education is the best but to just believe that you can take a child out of school at the age of 15 and teach them at home life skills, this will only work as long as they stay within your community and will not work for them if they go out and find a job outside the community because there is no proof that they are properly trained or that they have had to education that is required. The school system is failing our children, I will not disagree with that but I think homeschooling also can fail our children for not getting the proper education they need to be successful and when applying for college there is no proof from a credited school that the student must have in order to enroll in a college. We are in hard times, I am grateful my children are raised and on their own and that the education was not such a failure to our students when they were being raised.

It's so interesting to hear your description of the sandwich method! In my culture that works totally different, and criticisms are not well received in a sandwich, we prefer direct criticism (kindly phrased of course, but in a direct way nonetheless). I guess to me a sandwich would feel very unclear; like: 'ohkay, so are you happy or do you have an issue?', and as a result would leave me second guessing and doubting their level of irritation (or simply not picking up their frustration at all). Compliments are better received separate as well, mixed with criticism compliments feel fake to us, like you just say it to make me feel better, without really meaning it. I did notice foreigners really struggling with this directness and you explaining your experience made me understand why a bit better :). Thank you!

In conflect Resolution, its called using "I messages". For example, I need the trash taken out now and I just can't do it. Also, it is necessary to keep calm and figure out who has the problem. If it's the other person, say "let me understand" and repeat what they just said. Then stay quiet to see if they expand on their thoughts.. if I have a problem, use I messages. The worst thing I can do is be defensive--it blocks communication. sometimes the person with the problem just wants to to be heard. Learned this in college as an education major.

The school told our parents that we were more advanced for their school system so they skipped us a grade. That is a terrible thing to do to a child!!! The inner city school was actually very very crowded and was a very bad school. When I got to college I found out there was a lot that I was never taught. (And I was an honor roll student). I feel anyone who can afford a private school should send their kids to private school.
