Q&A | #45 - Sinking Fly Lines EXPLAINED!

Спорт

In this video, Brian Flechsig of Mad River Outfitters discusses sinking fly lines and their applications and when it would and would not be good to use them. **Please read below for Editor's Note**
Editors Note: We do realize that the Galloup Streamer Max Long does feature an "Intermediate "Running line and NOT a Floating Running Line as was implied (please see our website for further explanation from Kelly). Brian simply mis-spoke a bit there and also knows this. He was referring to sinking head lines in general. Being an Intermediate, we typically do not consider the Airflo Streamer Max Long to be a true "full sinking" line therefore and termed a "sinking head". Regardless, still our favorite and best selling sinking head line.

woo, this video came out just in time to snap me back to my senses. Temporary psychosis from prolonged fly fishing withdrawal was making me think my cat's hair would make a nice streamer... guess I can put the trimmers down

Hopefully you mean stripers? (this is a family friendly channel). If so, a sinking line is probably in order. Feel free to call the shop if you need any guidance on exactly what to get along with ideas on the flies. Thanks.

Thanks Brian, you've been really instrumental in bringing me back to fly fishing. Thanks to you and Kelly, I'm building a dedicated streamer rig around the Streamer X for up here in the Utah mountains. In one of your videos (which I can't find) you talk about Cortland's Big Shot and I was wondering if you still like that configuration for small to mid size rivers. I'm following your multi--spool guidance and I think the Big Shot fits right in. Thanks for all your great content.

After years of surf fishing I keep the line in the hand. I prefer full sink lines because while wading it is rare to cast over 30 feet but I have the advantage of fishing from a boat. EDIT: Thanks for Your Videos I really Apprechiate them.

Very informative video. I purchased the Airflo Max short from your site. Works well, but wondering if I should have gone with the Max Long.. most of the streams and rivers I fish are medium sized. Kelly wasn’t hot on the Max Short in one of his videos in the comment section part of the video.
