You are fantastic! Hopefully I can catch you on the next Q&A to ask you about storing your inventory. How do you store it? Thanks again for the sweet vlog!
I enjoy watching and learning from you miss Meshe

+Paco Rodriguez Glad you are enjoying the videos, thanks for watching! xo
I luv your videos. I fell in love with working with metal and have started with rings. Since watching your videos, I have fallen more in love with the high shine. Keep making the videos, they do help people like me who has no formal training in silversmithing. Thanks 4 all the time u take filming the videos.
Thanks for another great vlog and answering my question :) You have also given me some direction and where to start and how to go about it. Looking forward to future inspirational videos and would love to send you a piece when it's completed
G'day again, i was working on some bezels and came across the same issue as another viewer did which is not being able to file the ends well enough to have no gaps. They mentioned using the top of the rubber disc which i also tried but didn't end up with a good result. Finally it came to me that i remembered watching another video from someone on youtube who was using a mitre jig which can give you a straight end at 90 or 45 degrees. I went out and picked one up today (not very cheap from the only supply shop that has everything in south Australia) and it makes a massive difference for someone like me who is new. Hope this was helpful to whoever asked for help on this :)

Hi Michelle..Thanks for sharing your insight regarding metal gauge uses. You gave excellent, sound advice...it all has to do with Scale..scale..scale...Your Q&A was informative, applicable and again, inspiring. I look forward to your next video be it a..vlog..a Q&A or an In-depth tutorial...I always come away from your videos with a "Just Do It" type of confidence..Keep the vids coming..... Happy New Year :-) Fletch
Hi Meshe, great vid, you cover a lot of stuff, and , yes, just like when I was doing wood working, the shop would get messy, would clean it up, and, start another project right away, and now with learning silversmith, same shit..lol, keep em' coming young lady!

+jim bettridge Hey Jim! I'm just a messy person and have learned that I need to try and control my mess but it's ok to have messy chaos when creating. So long as I always try to clean it up, but then it goes right back to a mess lol!
you can use a miter box to get strait seams as well

You're so welcome.
Miss M (!!!) you are so very generous of spirit, heart, and mind, and you are so appreciated! And talented in great communication! Great answers, as usual; well done! I learn much from you. On that note, wanted to confirm the bit about the torch, you said it's acetylene, is the torch the "Smith Silversmith" [for acetylene] - that is in the Rio Grande catalog?
I have used fine emery cloth on bezel ends and also the cutting disc. The trick is to have the bezel shaped already so that both ends are being flattened at the same time. Just have to be gentle.
Love your videos! Love that your personality comes across in them. I'm newly starting my journey into smithing and I am absolutely obbbbcessed! lol I am having a hard time finding metalsmithing classes in my area and think i'm looking in the wrong places because i'm in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area so there has got to be some here . But will keep trying. Keep the videos coming and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Will be ordering from you soon.

+Dawn Williams check out the Dallas Gem and Mineral Society. I'm sure they hold metalsmithing classes. You may have to email to find out exact dates.
Thanks so much! Really great information, as usual! In your next Q & A round could you give some tricks and tips on bezels for stones with sharp corners (can be hard to look even and smooth at the corners because of the extra metal) and working with patterned bezel wire, such as serrated, gallery/regency wire, etc. where you have to match up a pattern? Thanks so much! guiltyhedonist :)
Is square space the same as FB? What is "boosting". I AM doing my homework but some of these terms aren't readily explained on Google...as least not yet. Thanks M, great video again- and YES, you ARE super down to earth, you feel real and genuine, definitely not pretentious!! We are lucky to have the combo of excellent info with a real good heart teacher :)

Whoops...just hearing your answers to someone else who had similar questions to mine about pricing, marketing etc. So I guess mine were obsolete! Just started subscribing to your channel, so still finding my way around your posts. :-)
Thank you for answering my question!!

+Kaleigh Brewer was your question geared more towards how to make an item that doesn't have a flat bottom (like sea glass) sit in a bezel without rocking? Although she perfectly answered how it would be wrapped, she made another video that better explained how you can put sawdust or a bit of folded paper underneath the glass to stabilize it. Or better yet solder bits of silver under the glass as the paper/sawdust can get moldy &/or breakdown if moisture gets in. I intended to link the video but now I can't remember which one it was! If I understood your question correctly & you want to watch that video I'll keep searching. ;)
Hi, thank you for a great video. I just found you this weekend. I saw below that someone asked you about your torch, if it was the SilverSmith torch. I wondered the same thing, which Acetylene torch you use? Thank you for sharing so much!

+Dharlee Minter Hey Debbie! Yes the Silversmith Acetylene torch is the one I have! xo
try jewelspan its for jewelers to sell there goodies.
I absolutely love your videos. You're so down to earth and fun to watch. It's like hanging out with a chill ass friend. Lol I would love to learn more about pricing my jewelry. I just finished a pendant and the price I got seems high. Of course, I expected that. I've always made and sold beaded and assembled items and thought anything over $22 was too high. Lol So I'm trying to get rid of that mindset. But I'm curious to know how to determine an hourly wage for myself. Also, the pendant took about 6-7 hours. Not because it's crazy detailed but because I'm new to metalsmithing. So that jacked up the price too. I have a lot to learn and I know I'll get quicker with time. Thank you for your help! ❤️ Ps I'm @thejunepoppy on IG 😊
Love your videos! They are very educational and fun! I know you use acetylene but what torch do you think a beginner should start with?

+Danielle Blakely Hi Danielle, hard to say I really think you need to research the topic heavily before making any decisions. If you choose a systems I would have someone with experience set it up and train you for all safety procedures. A micro creme brûlée torch is a great way to start, you are limited with projects but a great way to get started! Hope that helps, thanks for watching. xo
Hi Michelle, Im literally about to place my order at Rio (tryin to catch the sale). Before I finalize my order though, do you suggest hard or soft silver sheet? And bezel wire also ...hard or soft. Thanks!
@meshedesigns
8 жыл бұрын
+JL Clark Sorry I didn't get to you in time, usually the bezel wire is soft its fine silver so it really doesn't have a hard or soft option I believe and you can always anneal the metal if its not soft enough. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! xo
