A massive python swallowed an impala during our Miss Mara Water Safari at Marataba Safari Lodge. This unexpected event ranks among the most surprising moments we've experienced on Miss Mara, presenting a once-in-a-lifetime sighting.
While drifting along the Matlabas River, we noticed something unusual on the riverbank. As we moved closer, we discovered a massive python, at least 4 meters if not longer, in the process of swallowing an impala. The python likely caught its prey when it came down for a drink.
Miss Mara delivered yet another incredible safari moment for us, one that will be talked about for many years to come.
