    As a math teacher, I never wanted to explain what something was good for. If I did, the students would come up with a reason they did not need it.

    In my whole School/College life I didn't know what math was used for or how it would ever benefit me in real life. I thought only addition subtraction multiplication and division was enough for everything but it wasn't. I used my maths knowledge in later life for a lot of basic things that I never even dreamed

    Triangles are MASSIVELY important to graphical navigation on a Mercator chart. Until you get into large distance where spherical trigonometry takes over.

    DUde i know you're joking: but in my few jobs we have used the theorem to square foundations for building houses for squaring concrete forms of other purposes. I know you're joking but real - we use 3/4/5 - 6/8/10 etc
