Summit and pilot? I guess the 2006 strain vs. the 1990 pond strain.

Yep, must be! I don’t know the dates personally. All I know is that the summit strain was introduced using Lahontan cutthroat from nearby Summit Lake after the original Pyramid Lake strain was extirpated. That’s probably the 1990 strain you’re referring to. Later on, a genetically identical population was discovered in a creek near Pilot Peak near Wendover, which retained the large-growth genetics that the Summit strain seemed to lack. The re-introduction of the original strain from Pilot Peak is probably the 2006 strain you’re referring to. Does that sound about right?

I’ll do better to show my flies and rigging while out fishing. But you can scroll through some of my past videos to find some solely dedicated to my set up. I also have fly tying videos for the woolly Bugger and foam beetle I’m using in this video.

Pectoral fins on that last summit were rad! Fondles the summits and flops the pilot back in!😂😂😜I must agree,the summits are more beautiful. I’Ii be fishing close to your rocks tomorrow.

The fish were really turned on the last few days. I had three landed and five hook ups on the southern end of the lake. No name beach

@@SoggySleeves I don’t know. If these weather temps stay then yes, water still seemed a bit warm to me. But the bait keeps getting broken up with these cold fronts. I might be going this coming up Thursday.

On this day, I did! Just depends what the fish are doing. When they’ve transitioned into the shallow beaches, it’s worth it for sure.

I just use an XL textured nitrile glove. Like an auto mechanic style glove. Sometimes I use just the nitrile glove. Sometimes I wear a knit liner under the nitrile. And sometimes I wear my simms mitts over the knit and nitrile. Just depends on how cold it is. I pretty much always wear at least the nitrile glove though while I’m fishing Pyramid, because the salt water and wind cracks my fingers and knuckles pretty badly after a few days if I don’t.

You’ll want to size up with that nitrile glove, especially if wearing a liner underneath. If the nitrile is too tight, it’ll cut off the circulation and your fingers will freeze.
