Putin will pay 'high price' when met with modern weaponry in US aid package for Ukraine | Poroshenko

US and NATO aid will help push back Russia says former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko adding "buying time" in 2014 was crucial to Putin's defeat in the siege of Kyiv.

“A team of researchers at the University of Adelaide have found that as many as 80 percent of tweets about the 2022 Russia-Ukraine invasion in its early weeks were part of a covert propaganda campaign originating from automated fake ‘bot’ accounts. An anti-Russia propaganda campaign originating from a ‘bot army’ of fake automated Twitter accounts flooded the internet at the start of the war. The research shows of the more than 5-million tweets studied, 90.2 percent of all tweets (both bot and non-bot) came from accounts that were pro-Ukraine, with fewer than 7 percent of the accounts being classed as pro-Russian. The university researchers also found these automated tweets had been purposely used to drive up fear amongst people targeted by them, boosting a high level of statistically measurable ‘angst’ in the online discourse. The research team analysed a massively unprecedented 5,203,746 tweets, sent with key hashtags, in the first two weeks of the Russian invasion of Ukraine from 24 February this year. The researchers considered predominately English-language accounts, with a calculated 1.8-million unique Twitter accounts in the dataset posting at least one English-language tweet. The results were published in August in a research paper, titled “#IStandWithPutin versus #IStandWithUkraine: The interaction of bots and humans in discussion of the Russia/Ukraine war“, by the University of Adelaide’s School of Mathematical Science. The size of the sample under study, of over 5-million tweets, dwarfs other recent studies of covert propaganda in social media surrounding the Ukraine war. The little-reported Stanford University/Graphika research on Western disinformation, analysed by Declassified Australia in September, examined just under 300,000 tweets from 146 Twitter accounts. The Meta/Facebook research on Russian disinformation reported widely by mainstream media, including the ABC a fortnight later, looked at 1,600 Facebook accounts. Reports on the new research have appeared in a few independent media sites, and in Russia’s RT, but not much else, so revealing the burial of stories that don’t fit the desired pro-Western narrative. This ground-breaking study, exposing a massive anti-Russia social media disinformation campaign, has been effectively ignored by the mainstream Western establishment media. It’s become almost routine during the Russia-Ukraine war.” - Peter Cronau, published: Declassified Australia, November 3 2022

"Subject to revision, initial reports of the composition of the $61 billion indicate $23.2 billion of it will go to pay US arms producers for weapons that have already been produced and delivered to Ukraine. Another $13.8 billion is earmarked to replace weapons from US military stocks that have been produced and are in the process of being shipped-but haven’t as yet-or are additional weapons still to be produced. The breakdown of this latter $13.8 amount is not yet clear in the initial reports. One might generously guess perhaps $10 billion at most represents weapons not yet produced, while $25-$30 billion represents weapons already shipped to Ukraine or in the current shipment pipeline." - LA Progressive [24 April 2024]

It takes some people too long to wake up and realise their house is on fire, even if you're shouting at them. This is what we risk if we do not support Ukraine _winning_ against Russia (not just platitudes, but real strategic victory), we risk destroying everything we have built, our democracy, our way of life, the peace that was so hard won post-WWII. Ukraine is the wall that separates us from the instability and tyranny in Russia - we _must_ support that wall!

The weapons being used are among the most modern with plenty of hype, but so far they have proved to be a scam on taxpayers. Most American weapons that cost even 10 times more that similar ones have proved useless, starting from the javlin and the bradley and abrahms tanks 😂

Russia has decided to fight a war of attrition which they can fight on indefinitely, but Ukraine is very likely now past the point of population and economic sovereignty. Putin stated a few months into the Ukraine war, with the USA unwilling to discuss a settlement "The West appears willing to fight to the last Ukrainian".

Tanks are not the answer. As an American, i am proud my country gave so much. But much is our military industrial complex sending the wrong things to make money. More bradleys, less Abrams. More patriots, less nonsense. Even f16s may prove a collosal failure. More himars, more artillery. We floated Stalins army on spam and jeeps. Remember that. "tanks win small battles and trucks win wars" An old saying

The current issue does not revolve around defeating Putin, but rather on the fact that the world we live in has turned into an insane one by deviating from the teachings of Jesus on how to build happier societies, groups, and nations. For instance, six years prior to Putin's invasion of Ukraine, he passed a law that restricted the discussion of Jesus' teachings outside of state-approved sites. This law led to a decrease in the number of Russians who would have opposed the invasion, resulting in Russia being in a worse civil and military situation than before the invasion took place.

American here. I ordered a Dominos pizza last weekend and the young man that delivered my pizza was a Russian imagre of fighting age. He had a heavy accent, and I asked him where he is from, he said Russia!! I smiled and thought why aren’t in Ukraine fighting the Russians. I bit my tongue and said nothing but smiled and signed the receipt. I have to admit I felt some resentment that he is in my country living a good life while Ukrainians are dying everyday at the hands of guys just like him. It’s an internal conflict for Me.
