The difference between them is that for the US, Ukraine is not a key strategic interest as it isn’t a security concern for them. However it is a serious security interest for Russia and therefore Russia won’t back down, and is willing to fight a long war. Putin is betting the Americans will eventually get tired of aiding the Ukrainians (as it’s not a key interest) and will want to negotiate. Which is likely to happen, as there have been multiple pushes from US generals for this already, but Zelenskyy is unwilling to partake.

@@pb6839 Ukraine is absolutely a US security concern. Putin has stated he wants to restore the old USSR which does threaten the NATO alliance. The US would have to defend the NATO countries. You got proof of US generals are pushing to negotiate with Putin. US aide to Ukraine is a rounding error of the US budget and the money spent is destroying the Russian economy and military. Sure Putin is hoping that Trump is elected, because Trump wants to end NATO. The security concern for Russia is contrived, Ukraine was never going to attack Russia. I guess you need to review some history, Russia is the aggressor in E Europe. Russia is becoming third world and if Trump is not elected, Putin will have to rethink. Do you get your news from Russia Today? Ukraine has embarrassed Russia.

It certainly makes Ukraine vulnerable. But Ukraine got used and abused by the west in western fashion. And the west was so arrogant to think they could just go in on Russia like they did Iraq. Putin already proved to the west in Syria he could stop them and their agenda. But these dems made their money and so did some in Ukraine. Zelenskyy is now left hanging out to dry, stood up like a bad girlfriend, and lost 20% of the land. And for what?! Ukraine was never going to be part of NATO or the EU. They got played big time! The whole ordeal is as criminal as it gets. And Ukraine will have to make deals with Russia, which is what they were supposed to do to begin with before they leftists and intelligence agencies stormed in and overthrew their president and cabinet. @@chancergordy So were the prices. I was born and raised in Ukraine. My eastern relatives (Lugansk) were often travelling to Moscow for work while western ones (Chernovtsi) went to Spain and Italy. Usually the jobs were: construction, security, cleaner, babysitter. Even today amidst war Ukrainian wages are technically higher than in Russia, but if you compare them to local prices - it's absolutely the other way around.

I agree but let me just offer some perspective.... America makes deals. They are so rich because they make al lot of friends. They provide security in return of deals and resources that American citizens enjoy..... I'm not saying I fully agree with American policy but imagine the opposite. Imagine if America just said "we won't supply aid or security to ANYBODY", quickly then the deals they had in place will be destroyed. The countries that they import food and materials from will stop....... America does deals and provides security to other countries so it gets something IN RETURN.... yeah I'm sure not all the return goes to the citizens but one way or another u will benefit at least.... the world envies America, appreciate you don't live in a country struggling in africa😊

Budapest memorandum, Putin should stop going back on his word, and when he signs, if that happens, there’s no war, the US is only supporting Ukraine, when they signed the Budapest memorandum, it was agreed that Russia would not attack Ukraine. They're having their homes blown to bits and their cities destroyed and their economy completely and utterly hampered like Ukraine's. Also do you know of any good ways to get money to Russian citizens without it passing through the hands of Russia's government or Banks? Also this would effectively lower Russia's GDP and the sooner their economy tanks the sooner the war will end. Also you act as if ukrainians are living it up. So many cities have been completely leveled. The situation is much more dire in Ukraine than it is Russia. Also op never made it sound like that at all you're putting words in their mouth. Put more thought into your next comment.

You should definitely check the civilian to military casualty ratio. In modern warfare, it's usually around 10:1, but in this war, it was like 9:1. I feel like it's more brutal to kill more civilians than having more people directly involved in the conflict dying.

There are different opinions about what is right. The only people who benefit from this war are the arms industry, banks and construction companies. Ukraine is by far the most corrupt and most undemocratic country in Europe and most of the military equipment sent to them by the West end up on the black market while the population is suffering. Zelenski is a puppet for the West/NATO who owns multi billion dollar mansions in the US paid with money from his corrupt businesses.

Have you been looking at both sides. "You were helping" - the govt that was shelling and killing the Donbass Rusian for 10 yrs and when there is a pushback you start crying foul or complaining. A lot of humans beings are nothing but hypocritical self serving delusionists.

Why can’t the world admit that Russians are standing up to the world’s largest bully - America? After all, Americans did invade and destroy entire nations. Maybe you’ve forgotten recent history of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya and countless others?

Sure but he’s basically complaining that his life’s is not fair because he attacked Ukraine Mano a Mano and in comes these “friends” and “allies” and that’s true that Ukraine needs support but he’s the reason they need support so it’s like he lives in a dreamland where he just woke up and Ukraine was at war with Russia like he didn’t start the whole thing, but here we are. And ok so we prop up Ukraine. So what? They’re at war with Russia, why wouldn’t we help??? Too much is being made of if US pulls support, and it’s likely they will but Europe has clearly proven itself ready to fill that void if it happens which was unthinkable before Russia fully invaded. Not just Germany, England and France but Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Norway…countries that never spent money on weapons and defence lest they betray their left wing anti war principles are rethinking neutrality. Think about that first a second!!!! This war has UNITED NATO, UNITED the EU and the word on the street is Putin is entertaining talks for ceasefire. Never believe the administration when they without prompt start media blitzing their confident positions. Putin looks like Donald Rumsfeld circa 2005.
