Putin 'doesn't believe he can secure Ukraine' as Kharkiv could be last offensive|Maj. Gen. Tim Cross

"If they can begin to cause serious trouble deep inside Russia, then i think Putin can be put in a position where he's having to think...we've got to bring this thing to an end."
Russia's Kharkiv push could be the end of Putin's war to take Ukraine as word emerges he is considering suing for peace before Western aid can strike Russia proper, Maj. Gen. Tim Cross tells #timesradio

    With an economy the size of Texas this is unsustainable for the Russian economy. If they really have 5000 nuclear warheads, then the upkeep of them alone is billions. Their oil and gas industry has been decimated and sanctioned. Most of their skilled workers left the country or us and factories building ammunition and weapons. If you knew economics, you would understand that this cannot go on much longer. Also, the Soviet stocks are getting low and will never be replaced to pre-2022 numbers.

    Ukraine was NEVER going to be in a position to launch a genuine counteroffensive without sufficient air power. Until Ukraine gets the critical mass of military resources required and concentrated, it’s unfair to criticize their performance so far. It’s the Western allies who have been dithering that should take the blame for the slow going. Regardless of NATO, an independent pact to back Ukraine until Russia is defeated should be signed and backed up materially. Once that is in place, an ultimatum to Putin that he either withdraw to the 1991 border, or face the combined force of all the allies until that objective is met. “The Soviet understands only one language; action, respects only one word; force” - Dean Acheson

    Ukrainian victory is not profitable to the West, this is why Western milutary aid to Ukraine isn't enough for Ukraine to achieve victory, because West wants long war of attrition against Russia, so Ukraine was simply tricked and West uses Ukraine as a cannon fodder against Russia, not allowing Ukraine to win, but giving to Ukraine amount of help needed to not allow Russia to win. This is simply Western hybrid proxy war against Russia, Ukraine and West did everything to put Russian troops on Ukrainian territory, when US spent 5 billion dollars and CIA helped Ukrainian oligarchs to organise illegal coup in Kiev in 2014 and Victoria Nuland, head of state department was giving cookies to Ukrainian protesters. Because Russia have defeated the West in soft force. Russian soft force, economic perspectives of trading with Russia were better for Ukraine than impossible dream of oligarchic corrupt Ukraine to become part of European Union. So, even pro-Western president of Ukraine, Yanukovich, refused to make a deal with EU in 2013, Yanukovich thought that he will seat on two chairs between Russia and EU, and Ukrainian economic elites, Ukrainian oligarchs organised coup against him with help of CIA and Ukrainian far right groups who insulted Russia and Russian people, while majority of south-eastern population of Ukraine are Russians, and this is why Crimea and Donbass proclaimed independence and decided to join Russia, starting a conflict.

None of it came true. None of your battlegroup/maneuver warfare concepts from essentially the 1930's/40's work anymore. Everyone knows everything about the battlefield because of satellites and drones, everyone can communicate and see what their troops see in realtime, all the time from anywhere. The freaking Maginotline would actually make sense in this situation. Technological parity, no maneuvering (not really since everyone can see mass movements and concentrations and then bomb it), they're a recipe for positional warfare and like the tank before, we need something new to break that stalemate. Or, just expend men and material for small gains.

  • @a5cent

    @a5cent

    13 күн бұрын

    @@ronblack7870 You are oversimplifying to a degree that is ridiculous. Sanctions aren't intended to cut off supply completely. Raising the cost does make it impossible for companies to compete on the international market however. If you want to make anything that imports or exports to a western market, even if that is just a video game, you can't. That is devastating for a national economy. Will that stop the arms industry which needs parts in only small quantities? No. But that is not the goal. The goal is to dramatically increase the cost of fighting the war for Russia. And it is doing that! Will this stop Russia from repairing Mercedes and BMWs? No. But it will destroy their local automotive industry and already has. Will it stop Russia from creating fighter jets? No. But it will destroy their civilian aircraft industry, and already has. This has almost no affect on Russia's war fighting ability. However, over time, if the sanctions remain, this will wipe out a huge part of the Russian economy. That is the goal, and that is working. Putin must now consider whether Ukraine is worth sacrificing such a huge chunk of the Russian economy over. Unfortunately, Putin probably will sacrifice anything at this point, because very likely his own life is on the line if Russia fails in Ukraine. However, other Russian Oligarchs may not see things that way, as their own wealth, income and status is tied to the Russian economy doing well. That's what the west is really hoping for. It may work, which ultimately would also be the best possible outcome for Russians. But it also may not, in which case Russia will become an extremely isolated backwater economy like Iran or North Korea. We shall see.

We will have waited almost 2 1/2 years before wr sent any aircraft though we have the most in the world c'mon wr could send 500 tanks and 500 fighters and not even miss them it's a big geopolitical game. Russia is not even a conventional threat to the u.s. at all. If we get serious about giving the proper equipment, ukraine could easily win, but the United States, I doubt wants that.

    It is possible that Russia can see a rising chance that bordering countries could well take over the air defense of Ukraine, calls for this are getting louder by the day with both Germany and Poland refusing to rule it out. If Ukraine's skies were to be made secure it would pose a major problem for Russia as it would free up Ukrainian air defense to protect the front line which as we have seen given the chance is very effective

    Support to Ukraine from an American Republican. But it should be noted that because Biden at the early stages of war when Ukraine was doing well, did not give Ukraine the weapons necessary for air superiority so Ukraine could push forward, has made it so the eventual outcome is likely to be the EXACT SAME as what Trump says; a negotiated end of the war where Ukraine sadly gives up some territory. Also, this is ONCE AGAIN the US being the absolute CRITICAL factor on MILITARY SUPPORT for Ukraine, and other Europeans benefitting from the US, while having the nerve to criticize the US. Europe is right on the doorstep of Ukraine and the US also has obligations to lead in Israel and Taiwan yet the US STILL provides the lions share of military aid, which is more important than economic aid Europeans are giving because military aid keeps Ukraine from capitulating. All Europeans should be reminded of the fact that they live in the relative peace and security of a liberal world order only because of the US, who saved them after WW2 with the Marshall Plan and has continued to provide them security. No other European or Western country will EVER be as good as the US, because the US is the very reason those countries can exist in the prosperity and security they do

    A general should know that Russia can not take Kharkiv with 50000 men, which is Ukraines second largest city and has a population of 1,4 million people. The troops will be degraded by the time they reach the city. It's not a drive through. The city is 360 km2 in size and surely defended all the way. Remind him that they failed once already.

    Russia never officially claimed they wanted to take all of Ukraine. Their objective has always been a buffer between NATO, much like the US wouldn’t put up with Soviet weapons in Cuba. The hypocrisy is noticed throughout the world and the West’s credibility has been deteriorating since 2014 at least. We don’t have a Elites, we have Elitists. Former are the best and have humility, the latter are incompetent yet are arrogant.
