I ditched the drop ins and spin on filters when I did my chopper, I just run a small inline oil filter that has a magnet and screen in it ( just too catch anything that will cause damage) I use that as well as change oil frequently… too bad those weren’t long reach later heads on that bike, I’ve had great luck with old 4018 Bosch plugs in shovels, also have luck with ngk… thanks for the video hippe

OK let me clue you in with a little tip, points ignition and resistor plugs don't play well together, you'll be lucky if those plugs run 10 hours, if you put those champion plugs in a vise, grag the metal end where the wire connects and unscrew it, then dump out the resistor and spring, clean out in the hole good, drop the spring back in there, get a piece of the solid copper wire commonly used in household wiring, cut a small piece the same length as the resistor and drop it in the plug, screw the tip back on and you now have a non resistor spark plug that'll run for years. I've got around 30,000 miles on some RN13LYC champion plugs, if the engine is an oil burner they will still foul out but it will take a while. everyone that runs points will appreciate this info, very hard to find non resistor plugs these days. Hey, maybe even do a short video of you doing it, It'd really help out our points runnin brothers. I do all phases of wrenching these old girls, bottom end up, been at it since 77, AMI "now Wyotech" trained, one thing that really stuck with me was my instructor repeating several times daily "always refer to the FACTORY service manual", I still do.

Bad ass content man! I don’t know shit about shovel heads so cool to see. Oldest bike I rode was a Evo Softail with a carb on it that ain’t got the right jet so it’s was a battle to keep it running lol. Didn’t know they had adjustable pushrods on those shovel heads but like I said I don’t know much about em

Use clothes pin (sprung type) to hold p.r. covers up. If ur using corks in pushrods to seal then they are inhibiting to return oil flow to the return hole in tappet guide ...just saying. Didyou mention that your using somekind of solid p.r.adjustets...or are they hyd.

  • @hippieschoppercorner

Solids and I think the cork is why I'm having issues with return oil at the tappet as well. Good call

Just out of curiosity, what made you decide to go with solid lifters? Also, don't worry about your videos getting long in the tooth. I think most would agree, we don't mind at all. Hell, look at some of those sagas Slickhead does. I enjoy every minute.
