Push 3 Improvisation - Day 4 (Dub Techno)

Hello! This is pure improvisation; nothing pre-planned, nothing edited. My goal is to GIT GUD by practicing every day - recording it so I don't cheat.
These jams will be exclusive to my Patreon and KZread supporters, but every now and then, I'll drop one here that I'm especially vibing with.
If you enjoy this (or not), let me know so I can plan how frequent these are.
I'm also currently refining my 4K filming setup, so bare with me as I perfect that.
As always, thanks for joining me on this unique musical journey I'm on and have been since I had my mind blown apart by a We Are The Robots cassette single I found on the road when I was 7 .
Curious about the Push? Drop your questions in the comments, and I'll chime in.

WHOA! This was AMAZING! Thanks Tom for sharing your creativity! This was sooo inspiring. I've been following your work for awhile and love seeing your playfulness. I don't have the Push 3 but your video is making me go practice 🥰

I love how organically ideas can be composed on Push 3. This video really shows this. I'm going to pick up a standalone unit within the next couple of months I think. Standalone + MPE + built in audio inputs really have me sold. These are not "essential" features, but I love "low friction" devices that I can switch on and start creating immediately. Currently my favourite gear to use are the Deluge, Maschine+ and M8. All low friction, portable, and quick to use. I own a Push 2 for many years also, but I hardly use it - the reason being, I hate turning on my computer. I know how dumb that sounds, but I'm using my laptop 10+ hours a day for work, so when it comes to making music I really like groovebox type devices - and I think Push 3 might well be the ultimate groovebox. I love this jam by the way, it sounds great!

Totally understand, being able to take this out into the garden with headphones for two hours is a game changer - even working with laptops in noisy gigs/festivals was prone to all kinds of bullshit. I know its just a computer essentially, but not having to deal with windows or drivers or all that carry on. It just works.

Incredibly inspiring! Thanks for posting this. It’s really relaxing to watch, on top of being so much more informative than gear reviews. I’m currently selling some gear so I can get a Push. I can’t wait!

This is great, I just got a Push 3 yesterday and never having used a Push before I'm feeling totally overwhelmed. Been using Live for nearly 20 years now but always with a keyboard and mouse besides a brief flirtation with an APC40 many years ago. It's great seeing a workflow like this rather than having a tutorial video just dump everything on you in an indigestible way, I guess if I had a question it would be the best way to get fast enough at using it that I don't keep going back to mouse and keyboard for things I know how to do but don't know how to do it on the Push (I didn't get a standalone one). I know I need to just force myself to do it but it feels like a slow process when it's software I know inside out but then suddenly nothing feels intuitive anymore and the temptation once I get stuck is to just do what I'm trying to do with the mouse. I know at some point it'll become quicker or more direct or more controllable to use the Push but it feels like it'll be a long time to get there, so I wondered if you had any tips to help shortcut that process?

This video gave me a pretty good idea of what the creative process is like on the Push 3. In general, it seems enjoyable except for the preset browsing, that part seems like a potential creative black hole. 😂 Nice jam!
