In this video I am showing you three temples and their history which gave birth to the town called Purushottampur. Named after the famous Gajapati of Odisha Shri Purushottamdev, it is believed that the temples like Sundar Madhab was established by him with allocating lands to brahmins to run the temple. That's one of the many stories behind rise of each and every old locality and population in Odisha. While the river Rushikulya provides the much needed water for drinking and irrigation, this old town also has schools like ND High School which has given Odisha a lot of scholar students.
Apart from Sundar Madhab, the Kapileswar Siva temple is more famous and prominent temple here due to more modernization and development, but both the temples shares their campus despite a two different cult following in Odisha was there like Saivas and Baishnabs.
Along with these two unknown temples there are lot of things to see and explore around like Dakhin Kali temple in Pratapur, one of the famous deity just back side of the Taratarini mountains and the Tara Tarini temple itself. It is fascinating to see the view of Taratarini mountains while travelling to Dakhin Kali temple from Purushottampur.
Food- Puruhottampur has a great collection of hotels and shacks selling street food and lunch dinner, and of course you can come down to Brahmapur or Chilika via Khalikote-Huma if you wish to test something different.
Kabisuryanagar and Aska is two of the nearby localities with lot of history and heritage you can visit, but for me another day I will visit and cover them.
