Purple Sunbird
The purple sunbird (Cinnyris asiaticus) is a small bird in the sunbird family found mainly in South and Southeast Asia but extending west into parts of the Arabian peninsula. Like other sunbirds they feed mainly on nectar, although they will also take insects, especially when feeding young. They have a fast and direct flight and can take nectar by hovering like a hummingbird but often perch at the base of flowers. The males can appear all black in harsh sunlight but the purple iridescence is visible on closer observation or under good light conditions. Females are olive above and yellowish below.

They are very restless birds like hummingbirds as these guys also favors only nectar. It is hard to find these birds sitting around idly :D Thanks for watching !

Purple Sunbird is really cute with a sharp curved beak for taking out sweet nectar from flowers, melodious chirp, flashing colours, like a fairy it flits with wings of purposeful intent.

Marvelous singer. The bird manages to preen between singing 😊. Interesting species name, I would rather call it a yellow songbird. 👍👍👍

Hahaha we have another yellow bird who sings marvelously which we posted previous week, Common Iora. This Sunbird is like your humming bird, obviously can't match with the speed of hummingbird but these also feed on nectars only, so full of sugar burst. It is just the name given to another "form" of the same species. In this eclipse plumage they look more similar to the female of the bird rather than completely purple as the name suggests.
