We are 99% white. Most homogenous people in Europe. I don't hate anyone, but I get your point. I'm from the Highlands of Albanian. I'm not anti anyone, just pro-Albanian.

My ancestors are from fisi Kuçi in Montenegro located near the Montenegrin capital. We were Catholic Albanians, may god return us our lands we lost centuries ago

I think Kuci is a sub-tribe of Krasniqi. Word of mouth, Im also from Krasniqi tribe and we settled in East Kosova, in the mountains of Gollak. The new village they founded is called Marec, from the founder Mara. Somewhere along the line we switched to islam and i guess because we were poor and unable to pay the extra tax (gjiza or whatever is called). I make this assumption because there is no tradition of ours were were religious. We still call some places with old names though like Prroi i Kishes..I wish i knew more about my heritage..

@@urtanp some people say kuçi is a sub-tribe of berisha which is referred to as Berisha e kuçe, but i just think the word Kuçi was a used name back in them days, as far as I know though fis Kuçi was at war with albanians to the south and Serbs to the north, as a tribe they stopped existing around the 1700/1800 AD due to serb assimilation/ genocide and displacement. mainly settling in neighbouring Albania and Kosovo.

@@bloodofaneagle5003 In Kosova we still have people with lastname Kuci, like the famous politician Hajredin Kuci if you have heard of him. But, what i remember from Wiki is that Kuci was an Albanian tribe, who later moved up north to get away from islam, and that they moved in a serbian speaking area. Soon after though they killed some of the locals and were forced to move out again, aside from two of them, who are considered the founders of Piperi. Again this is from wiki and based on my vague memory.

@@urtanp yeah, but a lot of times people have changed there last name, for example someone from the fis gashi has a surname that changed from gash to krasniqi even, its more of the fact that everyone in kosove (if origins are Albanian) know there tribe.

@@bloodofaneagle5003 That prolly happened. Though, it could also also be that some who have changed their last name in recent times, and that they looked up and chose smth of their origin. Either way pretty remarkable, the survival of our ancient tribes :).

I find it funny when Serbians say they are more indegenous to Balkans than Albanians. Besides religion, genetically and linguistically Albanians are much more ancient inhabitants of Balkans than Serbs or Slavs. Genetic tests show that Albanians in terms of genetics closely match to ancient/modern Greeks. dj mad she is singing a very old and famous song, about the motherland Albania.....the Arbresh people were forced out of Albania to escape the Ottoman Empire. She sings with sadness about the beautiful land she left and never to see her again. She left her beautiful mother and her brother never to return....they died and are buried in the ground....that’s what she is singing.... So 500 years later here we are singing their song and sharing the pain they must have endured....thanks for your interest....it’s one of my favorite songs as well. Lots of history about the calbrese Albanians that settled in Italy and still speak the language 500 years later.

The second song is from Arberesh in fact Arvanites (and in italy they called themselves arberesh same also those who fled from Albania's actual territory) who fleed Morea during the Ottoman incursions in the late 1400s. They settled in Italy in the lands the King of Naples had given Scanderbeg ( 🇦🇱 national hero) for helping him against the Prince of Taranto during Scanderbegs Italian campaign. This song tells therefore a story of 500 years and possibly is as old as the story itself. One curiosity I have noticed listening to Arberesh version of Albanian. Appart the obvious italian words which have made their way in the alphabet, arberesh is easily understood by gheg albanians of the north especially Shkodra / Mirdita / Kosovo as they do not use joint letters as much. These like G+j= Gj S+h = SH and so on are modern additions due to the evolution of the language. Therefore they use not Gjuha but G-iuha, just to bring an example. If all you guys substitute these with single letters and Sh with Sk, Gj with Ghi, Y with i, it is very easy to understand. Wonderful to be able to listen to your language of minimum 400 years ago and still understand it. Wowwww

The thing is, since Arbëreshët were a very small population, the language couldn't really evolve and develop like a much more spoken language. And I still can understand it! It's so cool that Albanian heritage has stayed true to itself for so much of European history

So much aggressiveness here. Forget those old disputes, which I know that unfortunately are still present. Why don't you just talk about this wonderful traditional song? I'm not from any Balkan country or even near that region and I simply found out this song and love it. I don't even know what it says, but it doesn't matter. I have in my mobile phone. I checked the lyrics in Albanian and I sing it just the way it is. Plus, I am still practising it. I neither have the lyrics of the other two, nor their names. Can anyone send me the names of the second and third song? And if someone can sum up the songs (do not translate, just tell me what she is singing about) , I would appreciate it very much.

The song is about a love for a girl, called "flower", which seemed so strong but she cannot be found anymore. In the older version, they name a greek region( More) and regret having to leave it, to find a safe place in the south of Italy. For what I understand, there are 2 versions of this old song: the modern one is called "Lule Lule", it is sung by several groups in arberesh, the Albanian language of exiled Albanians in the south of Italy. The older version, slow and heart wrenching, is called " Moj e bukura More", and talks about the greek region many Albanian families had to leave, to go to Italy. There are several versions of both songs, with different arrangements and texts: hope you have time to listen to all of them, they're great!Btw, despite being Italian and loving music, I do not know too much about this resilient community, I just wish school would prepare us more about this rich diversity we have in our culture since centuries.

Most Albanian music these days is either ancient illyrian or some modern variant. Nothing arabic about it.

@@marktwister432 he must be orthodox Albanian, unfortunately Religion has always been our biggest problem. In Balkans being orthodox your considered greek-servian, catholic=Italian and Muslim =arab 😂

I përket traditës origjinale shqiptare ende të pa-influencuar nga ndikimi turko-oriental që dominoi dhe transformoi më pas gjithë konstruktin melodik të folkut shqiptar. Sigurisht përpara se të bëheshim tallavaikë, kemi qenë mesdhetarë. Kjo është ruajtur në këngët arbëreshe e më pas edhe është përforcuar nga bashkëjetesa e tyre e gjatë në Siçili e Kalabri. Nuk mund të thuhet e njëjta gjë për muzikën arvanite të Greqisë e cila vuan nga të njëjtat doza orientalizimi otoman nën të cilin Greqia ndenji po aq gjatë sa edhe Shqipëria.

Baza muzikore apo melodia mendohet se eshte e njejte. POr mund ti kene dhene nuanca italiane sepse 500 vjet atje Nuk eshte se Nuk Kane ndikuar. Madje e Kane perthithur shume mire si kulture dhe e Kane zhvilluar ne mes tyre. Teorikisht kjo mund te jete me shume shqiptare se sa ajo me motive orientale qe degjohet sot.
