Also would like to know if the laptop was in the performance or turbo mode? I think performance is 150w GPU and Turbo gives you the full 175W

Still sitting on old predator helios 300, seems to run new games and does it the work. Planning on buying new laptop, I'm very interested about temperatures and dust protection. As for old predators you need to repaste it every 2 years and usually I find tons of dust. This one seems to have gigantic vents, so cooling must be very good, but I'm imagine how much it can suck up dust. Saw advertising video on new predator models that it had some caps on vents that you can place.

GPU temps look great for such a beast with 4090m! My Strix SCAR 17 with laptop 3080ti sits at 80C all the time at high load while this barely goes over 70C. And all this while showing sick FPS
@losmosquitos1108

The 4000 series can blow anything off the charts when there is FG support. Then it doesn‘t even break a sweat and stays in low temp ranges. But since temp throttling almost always is an issue in laptops it normally runs hotter than a desktop gpu if it clocks high and draws its 175W. My 4090m stays about 20C cooler due to water cooling in a gaming laptop, so does the cpu (10-20C). But there is always a noticeable difference with or without DLSS 3 (FG). Maybe you need to open and clean it from dust from time to time.

I have same laptop 32.0 GB ram edition. Tested ton of games, only had problems with Star Citizen which is poorly optimized, on max setting 4k resolution it could run only on 50+ fps... Rest games runs minimum on 120+ fps. I only have 2 problems, but I think it is most of from software. Sometimes it makes static noises on battery and GPU switching system is not really good. At the end it is superb laptop, the sound is awesome, it even have bases, screen is nice. Build quality is very nice. I think it is best option for people who travel a lot.
Literally the only time I can understand and justify the lack of Runescape 3 in benchmarks - running it on a laptop would set it aflame, 4090 or not. Still, counting days till you get a beefy enough PC to benchmark it on.

For me laptop does work out well, especially considering modern day laptops are kinda beating the performance of previous gen desktops. Also it includes monitor and keyboard. For me it's not costing significantly more, if including screen and keyboard/mouse, it comes close to the same total. I also need the mobility of a laptop and even last gen laptop RTX 3060 and RTX 3070ti came within 10-15% of the perfomance as their desktop counter parts, used less eletricity or around about to do so as well. Even the Ryzen CPUs (3-7, not the 9s) were coming really close to their desktop performances s well. kinda works for me

Sure, that's a very good point. For those who games only at home however (or simply use their PC at home), and only want to upgrade their GPU, desktops end up cheaper to upgrade later on since you only have to buy the GPU. For example in my country, new RTX 3060 GPU cost roughly USD365, while a good new RTX3060 laptop are around USD1300. Bottle neck due to old CPU? Just crank up the game quality. Unless bottle neck is really really bad, then you maybe need to update the whole system. Ofcourse, this comes back to each individuals need. Unless, external GPU to laptop becomes common, maybe you can deal with the expensive update of laptops. Just maybe....
@DarkKnight2037

@@moonlightbuterfly Yeah that's fair. For me it's not that needed and there are external GPU things i can buy if i need just GPU upgrade. FOr me i have been able to make a 1000 AUD laptop last around 8 years before i had to get a new one, then bought a 600 AUD one that lasted me 5 years. I dont really see myself needing to update a laptop until 7 years. i also need the portability and i do not have space for a desktop currently either. Desktop we did have lasted 7-8 years as well before it got so unusable and that was $2k AUD. If i had the space and didnt need to move around a bit with it, id have gotten a desktop. For me the cost becomes even. I guess 200-300 AUD cheaper with desktop given i can keep th ekeyboard and monitor

I have the Strix 17se with the 3080Ti and 12950hx, for the 2k 240hz display I find it already sufficient to make everything run well ..these are excellent machines, nothing to do with msi and various barebones, I also prefer it to razer. The only thing is the ddr5 still stuck at 4800 even in 2023, among other things here you can't put the ddr 5 5600 because you can't put the xmp profile in the bios .. the only shortcoming of these monsters

Sir CPU max power limit is 65 to 157 watt 13980HX has power limit. But Asus can change . Please tell.
So for you, who are interested I found one like this at the local shop for 4600 usd, I've decided to build a similar in perfomance PC desktop with the same spec monitor and just a good keyboard. I was able to save up some money on CPU, using new Ryzen and I've chosen a RTX 4080. So my desktop PC in almost the same configuration ended up at a price point of 4000 usd. Yes delta is whole 600 bucks, and yes you are getting stuck with same CPU and GPU, but to be honest, I don't think it will be a bottle neck for 3-4 years, cause my current spec is Ryzen 3600 and RTX 3060 and it handles games just fine and it's almost 2 years old by now. But there is a problem, I had to move recently and you know where is my desktop? Yes it stands back home, and I have to use a shitty laptop provided by my company for already three month. So for me, it is very important to have a beast like this. I can just close it, put in my back pack and have all the power I need at any place I have to travel next. Is it worth to pay extra 600 bucks for this? Definitely yes.
