@@zakgeorge You too! Thank you for making it so that when people all over the world google "dog training" they find out about positive reinforcement training! Its a pretty fucking amazing thing you did! Be proud of it. It took an insane amount of work strength and commitment for well over a decade that I dont think any person could compete with.

@@kikopup That’s nice of you to say. You and I still have much work to do to help the next generation of dog guardians! Hopefully even more progress is made in the next chapters!

That is pretty awesome I will go check it out. We all train differently, every single one of us trainers. The mentors I have I disagree with them on so many things. I have my own particular way of training based on my education and life experiences and unique dogs I have had the pleasure of learning from. Its so easy for trainers to tear down other trainers, its much harder to build each other up, help each other and support the things that you like about another trainers work. Its very honorable :) I am so grateful for Zak George, because there was a time youtube was just compulsion and shock collar trainers, I tried hard to make videos so that people would find out about positive reinforcement, but the mean negativity and personal attacks finally got to me, my videos were an invitation for people to tear me apart, my training, my appearance... everything, being gay... and finally it was too much and I quit youtube for quite a few years... I was so grateful that Zak took the blows and kept going, he wouldnt let the negativity and spiteful comments stop him. There are very very very few people who are strong enough to do that.

@@kikopup I so appreciate when trainers can be kind and supportive of other trainers. There's a lot of nastiness and fragile egos in this business, and very high emotional and identity investment in our treatment of our animals, and anything we can do to support one another and help one another feel safe to try to improve and grow and help our animals be happy and healthy is helps the industry, the humans, and the animals. I am always so disappointed in people who understand the power of positive reinforcement and choose to try to hurt and harm other trainers. Thanks Emily for not tolerating that.

@@kikopup oh wow… I had no idea😣. But I’m not surprised. Just remember that you are ahead of your time. Everyone in our industry freely admits that! It sucks that it has to be harder for you just for being authenticity you, and it’s wrong. AND YET you overcome. This would actually be a great video topic if you ever feel like sharing your experiences. I, for one, would find tremendous value in understanding your perspective. Awareness is where it all starts. No pressure though! Totally understand if you want to keep it dog training!

beautiful puppy and I love the way you closed the video with them playing! I’m new to your channel but wanted to thank you for all the excellent content. I have an 11 month old mini Aussie and is is fantastic; but, sometimes a bit of a handful. I’ve been watching and utilizing your videos on calming, settle, and the relax on mat. It’s really working. 😀 I also loved the content about calming when they want to get somewhere exciting or go after a toy, etc. I am working on that for going to the park and even just putting the leash on. Really a lot of fun practicing the games and watching him get better. We’ve got a ways to go; but thank you again! 🥰

I have been watching a lot of puppy training videos as of late to try and gain more confidence; me and my boyfriend have recently adopted a border collie pup named Luna. While things have not gone poorly, I feel that I'm a sub-par dog owner. (I have never owned a puppy before, so this is a first for me) It feels both comforting and disheartening to learn how to look after her better, I make a lot of mistakes and I get frustrated quicker than I'd like to admit. But videos like these give me hope that I can be better and improve. Thank you for your content 💗

I used to just let dogs play tug whenever they wanted to play, but two problems happened - 1 it could hurt Tugs neck if the bigger dog pulled too hard and 2- they shake the long toys and hit eachother or themselves in the eye, After an er visit with wish after she hit herself in the eye, I dont leave otu long toys, they live in a drawer and when they come out dogs can play tug with them, then after they are done they go away.

Would _love_ to hear much more about this and training around this as our 1 y/o is friendly to a fault (new social engagement is top of his reinforcement pyramid), meaning no recall around social interactions and he very easily gets over excited. I hope we can learn from you in this aspect.

Yeah you can use greeting people as a reinforcer, let the dog say hi, then call away for a treat or toy, then let say hi, do this many times, to the point where the dog doesnt want to stay hi anymore, keep going and turn "go say hi" into a cue.
