I love your videos Rachel! I really needed to watch this right now. We’ve had our Mini Aussie for only 2 weeks but it feels so much longer with all the potty training/accidents, jumping, biting, nipping and barking, as well as getting my senior cat adjusted to having another animal in the home. You’ve hit every feeling I’ve been experiencing. There’s been anxiety, tears, and frustration as it’s all so overwhelming at times. I really needed to calm myself and take those deep breaths. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and showing us how to navigate this “small window” 😳 of time. Praying has helped tremendously too. 🙂

I really needed this right now. It's been a rough day. I've had my puppy for 1 week. The potty training was going so well but today was such a low in the potty training department. She had so many pee accidents inside. She also just started transitioning from milk to solid food and she's had an upset tummy and diarrhoea. I've been giving her medication for it but she absolutely dislikes the meds. I'm so stressed and my heart is breaking knowing that she's not feeling well. I haven't had much luck curbing her nipping. She's only 6.5 weeks old so I know the nipping is because she's still teething. This is exactly the encouragement I needed. Thank you so much.

Thank you for this. Just 2 minutes into the video and I feel like I can do this again. We just got our 2nd puppy a few days ago, he is about 5 months old (our other pup is 1.5 yrs). I've been overwhelmed. He likely was mistreated in his previous home because we've had some unexpected things to work through. He just started relaxing more and chewing on toys which is a huge step for him. it's sad he barely is interested in toys and came to us with absolutely nothing. He doesn't even get excited over toys. To sum it up its been more than I expected and I appreciate the encouragement. Everyday seems to be getting better.

I had to pause this and make a comment before finishing this video. Thank you!!!! We adopted a puppy a month ago, and I am just so overwhelmed. My husband and I have two teenagers (who are both a huge help with him, thank goodness) and honestly, this feels just like when my kids were toddlers. He snoops in the cupboards, wakes me up in the night to pee, chews on everything, is super busy and I have to constantly find things to keep him busy so he doesn't bug my cats or chew on my house, he pees everywhere. Oh but I love him to pieces and I just feel so torn between "what have I done to myself!!" and "this is the most loving, gentle dog I have ever been a dog mom to in 21 years."

The major problem I had was that my puppy was urinating sooo much I adopted her from a shelter... i took her to see a vet and requested a UA even though they said its most likely because she is a puppy well she was diagnosed with vaginitus and said she had blood and inflammation in her urinary tract... now 5 months later she is doing sooo much better after antibiotics and starting her on supplements. Now im dealing with her. PATIENCE IS THE BIGGEST THING WITH PUPPIES!!!

Hi. I just adopted a 5 month old dachshund/ rat terrier. He has become a velcro dog to me. How do I give him alone time if he yelps and howls when he's away from me?

We are overwhelmed with our new mini poodle of 8 weeks. She’s chasing our 10 yr old shih tzu all over the house. My question is should we put the new puppy in the crate to stop this? And should the crate be put in another room or in the closed off area where we let her play? Help! We are in need of help!!

Hey so I got a new puppy recently and it’s snowing tons outside. It’s not safe for her out there because she’s not vaccinated yet and there’s salt on the ground. She has boots but won’t wear them. So I don’t know how to train her to go outside during these cold times. I was wondering if you have any tips or ideas?

Thank you, I needed to hear this. I've had my puppy for less than a week and things are actually going pretty we've made a lot of progress with crate and a few obedience skills. There's one odd behavior that's got me stumped. For some reason he's terrified to go outside. He's totally find as soon as we're out there but I don't want to have to pick him up and feel like i'm forcing him because its making potty training confusing. I can't even lure him outside with food because he's that anxious and it's the only time he starts pulling, and I certainly don't want to drag him. I started carrying him outside in the morning in his crate but he's really trembling so I don't know about this either because it seems traumatizing for him first thing in the morning. Anyone have ideas on this one??

Hi, I have a question, so my pup has been pooping and peeing on puppy training pads, I was wondering if that will affect him in the future I have a busy family, but I go to school at 6:30 am, and my mom goes to work at 10 am, when I come back home at 2 pm, we are worried that he might poop or pee while we are gone on the floor, which is why we put pads in a closed off space.

So I happen to live with two roommates who have dogs that aren’t well trained and pee in the house almost daily. Would this be a bad influence on a new puppy? I want to get a puppy soon and have done a lot of research but I don’t want her training to be stunted because of the other dogs!

This comes at good time for me. I recently got a 9 week old aussie shepherd. One of the biggest issue for me right now is crate training. Ive seen your videos on it but I am still struggling. My pup cries when i leave him in the crate but i have been putting him in his crate even when I am at the house and around. He just doesnt like being in there but I cant let him just roam around with out supervision. Also my pup seems really interested in my cat. My cat is not having it. Hes to energetic for my cat. He is not used to the pup quite yet. I feel bad cause my cat hides in his room :/

Stick with the basics on crate training - and when home, practice in and around the crate 3-5x a day (shor sessions) and keep it light! You got this

@@RachelFusaro Thank you for the response! Should I let him sleep in the crate in the room with me and my older dog? I was thinking some nights he can sleep with us and others in the living room so he comes to realize its not so bad. For now hes been in the living room crated.

We are taking our 9 week old puppy out on a schedule with his bladder & after he eats. Every hour. But, he diverts on the way outside to do his business on the carpet. (Never on the puppy potty pads) 🤔 So, I've been carrying him outside. Is he ever going to learn not to go inside?

Can you train a puppy to go potty on a puppy pad and go outside? I want to be able to take my puppy outside when I'm home, but when I'm not home I want them to pee on the puppy pads. I will be closing off an area for the puppy when I'm not home. I know later in life I could probably let them go outside by themselves but as a puppy I don't want them to wander around
