The maid deserves the biggest tip as she does so much work for all of us every day.. keeping us comfortable.

No. I’m not tipping at an all inclusive where tips are included in the price. You can if you want but it’s not mandatory. It literally says all taxes and gratuities included.

Tipping is not required it’s up to the person. Trips have doubled in the last year if at all inclusive the tips are included in the price!

That’s a lot of ppl to be tipping for 6 days!

Never heard of tipping at checking in… The Maid YES and Bar staff and a good waiter Yes yes yes but NEVER tipped anyone at check in before an Im from NYC

Hola! Tipping at the check in can be very helpful; front desk staff can feel appreciated and sometimes expedite the process of giving you your room before 3:00 PM ;)

They should be feeling appreciated from their company to pay them fairly, not to expect others to compensate

I always tip. $3 is enough for each person when you go in all inclusive resort. $3 is a lot of money for Dominicans okrrru. I used to live in DR so I kno .

$3 for what? Could you please elaborate? $3 tip per day for the room maid? $3 per drink at the bar? $3 per person at the à la cart dinner? We typically tip the room maid $5 per day, breakfast or lunch food buffett $1 per person per meal and $5 per person for à la cart evening dinner. Now that bartender tip will very incredibly wide. I average $1/drink tip. As I tip I tell them with clarity if it gets busy, remember me and my drink. If it’s busy, I’ll tip $5 if they don’t make me wait for my drinks or I’ll drop to $0 tip if they make me wait as long as non-tipping resort guests. Normally a $0 tip gets me showing and telling them the $5/drink tip they just lost by making me wait after they knew I was a tipping person - as I slide their lost tip from my hand into my pant pocket and we get up to head to a different bar. 🚶🚶‍♀️

The cost of all inclusive vacations in Dominican republic has almost doubled in the last 2 years. Shouldn't that be enough to pay all those workers more? so they wouldn't have to rely so much on those tips?.The customer/guest here is hit with a double whammy. How, fair is that?

It doesn’t work that way in tipping countries. In the United States, it’s mostly corporate greed where they pay the workers low wages and ask customers to tip. I don’t know if it’s the same for the Dominican Republic.

Imagine you save up for you and you family to finally go on your holiday. Then half of the spending money goes to tips?? Do the staff not get a wage? I understand the wages may not be much as if they were a Doctor but not everyone can afford to tip.😊

Probably because of inventory reasons, the mini bar staff keeps track of everything they put in the refrigerators

@@NittyGrittyTravelersI’m not sure if you will know but I’m traveling to the bahia principe luxury ambar in august & wondered what is actually in the mini bars ? We visited Mexico last year and the mini bar had 2 alcoholic drinks in it and the rest was fizzy juice etc

We usually tip bartenders one dollar. For the maids we leave 3 to 5 dollars every other day on top of the bed.

While the dollar goes a long way in the DR, the country is not cheap to live in and has gotten more expensive in the last couple of years. A dollar is about 54 pesos and it’s not that much to be honest.

Americans ruined vacation in the Caribbean by tipping for every damn thing.

LOL! Hola Ricaldo! =) It depends; if you're sitting at the bar and having several drinks, you can tip when you're leaving; if you come to the bar often to order drinks, then you don't have to tip all the time, just a few times to show your appreciation 🙂
